Evolve to support DLC better than "any game ever before".

With Evolve... we made these modular pieces - the way the whole game fits together means we can make new maps, new environment types, new wildlife, new monsters and hunters, and all of that stuff just plugs into the game.

As long as people are into it and the DLC does reasonably well, then we'd like to keep making more.

Interview with OXM here.

That all sounds a bit..... ominous.

The headline is a little cringy but the way they explain it in the article actually sounds good. It sounds like they can really adjust the game over time and keep the core game fresh rather than just ignoring and dropping that for unrelated DLC.

I don't think there's any chance the DLC is free because of how they worded that. They said they'll keep making it as long as the DLC "does well." Best case scenario it's DLC that won't segregate the community.

So what their saying is... it's free?

Nope.

"As long as people are into it and the DLC does reasonably well, then we'd like to keep making more."

Translation: If people keep buying our DLC we'll keep making more.

Payday 2 is the best at this, allowing unpaid to play with people that do have the maps. Unless they're doing something like this, the claim is already overblown.

Doubt that since nothing is topping TF2.

They won't even top Mass Effect 3. It has managed to keep a decent community 2+ years after release.

And this would be third place.

It's great that as long as host has the dlc, everyone can play instead of killing their own community with greed.

Maybe 2K should pay more attention to video games.
