I'm late to this news, and I love Ewan McGregor. But his American accent in Black Hawk Down is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Has he done a convincing one in anything else?

it was good until the final episode where one reveal made you realize that it's odd nature might not be as well thought out as you think
When retconing goes bad, totally unnecessary. good thing is, it was that in your face so many wouldn't even make the connection.

Season 1 was really fun and engaging, some things I didn't like too much, but overal I was hooked.
Season 2 wasn't nearly as enthralling, but it wasn't bad.

Looking forward to this.

The feel and acting in both seasons was astonishing. It didn't really matter if one scene towards the end of season 2 made some stupid story connections between seasons. The characters and overall outcome were supremely satisfying and the feel of the show is sublime. Nothing else like it is as effortless cool or suspenseful.

Yeah I think season 2 was a big step down from the first but it was still fun. If nothing else this guy is pretty good at giving us a humorous drama series.

I really like McGregor and Coon so this is nice news

Carrie's performance is immense in The Leftovers, truly great work from a very talented actor.

I guess it's time I finally get around to watching Fargo, as I'll want to be in a position to watch season 3 immediately - for Coon if nothing else.

I need to continue season 2. I've watched four episodes and I like it but not as much as season 1 so far.

Anyway, I love McGregor so I'm happy to see him on board for a good TV show.

Don't hate me for bumping, no news.

Why can't I find Fargo season 1 on Blu-ray? When I look on Amazon.ca, it's either stupidly expensive NA versions or European copies? I even tried ordering direct from FX and they cancelled my order.

Would it really be discontinued?

- David Thewlis joins the FX drama as a series regular
The third season of FX’s Fargo has landed an acclaimed actor from the Harry Potter franchise.

David Thewlis (who played Remus Lupin in the fantasy films, and also appears in the upcoming Wonder Woman) has joined the ensemble as a series regular, EW has learned exclusively.

The British actor will play V.M. Vargas,
“a mysterious loner and true capitalist who delivers Emmit (Ewan McGregor), the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, the bad news that he has just become partners with his employers, whose business interests lay outside the law.”

The actor joins star McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) in the next edition of the desolate and quirky thriller.

I didn't really like S2 all that much. Actually had a break about halfway through, not really wanting to finish it. Eventually did though.

S1 had some interesting acting and was overall, a decent watch. But it frequently devolved into murder porn and most of the deaths in the show were the result of people standing around, watching/letting the killer have his way. And of course there was a guy on the "good" side who was constantly denying reality, further allowing freedom to the bad guys.

Season 2 had good casting. But once the show got past the opening events, the plotting was cookie cutter and you were essentially watching a bunch of basal idiots do dumb, predictable things.

Oh snap:

- ‘Fargo’: Michael Stuhlbarg, Shea Whigham & More Round Out Season 3 Cast
Boardwalk Empire alum Michael Stuhlbarg joins in a recurring role as Sy Feltz, Emmit’s (Ewan McGregor) right-hand man and consigliere. Additional Season 3 cast members include previously announced Scoot McNairy (Halt & Catch Fire, 12 Years a Slave) as Maurice LeFay, a stoner with a criminal past, along with Shea Whigham as Meeker County Chief of Police Moe Dammick, and Karan Soni (Blunt Talk, Deadpool) as scientist Dr. Homer Gilruth. Fred Melamed (Casual, Lady Dynamite) plays Howard Zimmerman, a mover and a shaker, with a knack for spinning a yarn and making a profit, and Thomas Mann (Me, Earl and the Dying Girl) is Thaddeus Mobley, an award-winning science fiction author.
Stuhlbarg and Whigham will be a lot of fun on a Fargo show.

Scoot and especially wigham and stuhlbarg are some of the best actors tv has ever had so God damn this cast is stacked

And carrie coon, thewlis and ewan too? Will probably be the peak fargo tv show cast. I hope it's as good as season 1. Had a lot of fun with s2 but it felt like a step down with its characters

God, I miss Fargo already. Take your time with S3, Noah - I know he said he was taking a year off to work on it, and I think that is a fantastic idea. S1 & S2 are among some of my favorite seasons of television outside of Breaking Bad & Mr. Robot.

Is Stuhlbarg the second actor to be on the show who was actually in a Coen Bros movie, after Billy Bob?
Fred Melamed was also in A Serious Man.

EDIT: David Thewlis was in The Big Lebowksi, too. I'm sure there are a few more with a rotating cast this large.

FX confirmed today that Fargo started shooting last week in Calgary, and they're aiming for an April premiere date if they can make it. We'll see, that's a quick turnaround.

Hopefully they make it, but that seems a little optimistic
It really does. Sounds like they want to get it cranked out for Emmy eligibility. They already have a couple seasons under their collective belts, so I would guess they have a good idea about how long it'll take to produce.

Damn, they're gonna try and rush it out by April? Well, I suppose they know what they're doing...

- Warming Glow: The New ‘Fargo’ Actors Love The Show, And Those Crazy Names
Carrie Coon, who will play small-town sheriff Gloria Burgle, admitted her initial reaction to the show’s existence was, “‘What a terrible idea! Who does this guy think he is!’ But then I watched season 2, loved it, and here I am.”

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Nikki Swango, said it took her a little longer to watch, simply because she was so convinced upfront that it was a bad idea that she refused out of sheer stubbornness even when friends assured her she was wrong, but eventually dove in, and, “Pretty much as soon as I got the call from Noah, I said yes before I knew what the role was.”

The only new castmember present who hadn’t seen the show prior to taking the job was season 3’s lead, Ewan McGregor, who plays the dual role of twins Emmit and Ray Stussy, and he said it was simply him being busy, not an opposition to the concept of adapting the Coen brother classic. When a Fargo producer met him at a film festival and said they were looking for an actor to play a dual role — which he has done several times previously in his career — he was intrigued.

“I’m very experienced at playing with myself,” he joked.
- Deadline: ‘Fargo’ Grapples With Smartphone Era, Ewan McGregor Tackles Minnesota Accent In Season 3
Season 3 of Fargo is set in “Fargo-today,” Littlefield said, which is to say 2010 – current but just long enough ago to seem slightly nostalgic. It’s the first time the series has been set in the world of social media, one TV critic observed.

“[Creator/EP] Noah Hawley is enjoying that technology that is supposed to unite us perhaps is not what happens at all,” Littlefield said, noting a scene in which Eden Valley police sheriff Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon) boards a plane and notices everyone is looking down at their phones and not talking. “From her perspectivem that seems rather strange. Noah is going to have fun commenting on the world as it is today – for Fargo it is ‘today,’” he added.
