TV Line-up
Aj13lzX.jpg

KYOUSOGIGA TV
Director: Rie Matsumoto (Heartcatch Precure movie)
Character Designer: Yuki Hayashi (Driland S1)
Music: Go Shiina (Tales of Legendia, God Eater)
Animation Production: Toei Animation
Japanese Air Time: Thursdays at 1:30 AM, starting 10/10 (episode 0 on 10/3)
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoOp1vf98ac

Rie Matsumoto is a talented young director, and she's come up with a really unique world with a lot of potential in Kyousogiga. The TV series takes the material from the earlier ONAs and expands on it, fleshing out the characters and setting, focusing on the family that's at its core. It's good stuff.

P8e2PgR.jpg

VALVRAVE THE LIBERATOR SEASON 2
Director: Kou Matsuo (Kurenai, Red Garden)
Series Composition: Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Planetes)
Animation Production: Sunrise
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pagaPIi3XaA

The comedic genius of Valvrave returns, and it hasn't lost any of its touch. Karlstein crew swimsuit calendar when?

IcHqPnz.jpg

GUNDAM BUILD FIGHTERS
Director: Kenji Nagasaki (No. 6, Gundam 00 assistant director)
Series Composition: Yousuke Kuroda (Gundam 00, Gunpla Builders Beginning G)
Animation Production: Sunrise
Japanese Air Time: Mondays at 6 PM, starting 10/7
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVkcvXOOs70

A must-see for fans of Gundam or mecha animation.

2lk6lhx.jpg

SAMURAI FLAMENCO
Director: Takahiro Omori (Baccano, Natsume's Book of Friends)
Series Composition: Hideyuki Kurata (R.O.D., Kamichu!)
Original Character Design: Chinatsu Kurahana (Uta Prince)
Music: Kenji Tamai/agehasprings (Genki Rockets)
Animation Production: Manglobe
Japanese Air Time: Fridays at 1:20 AM, starting 10/11
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N184vpfST18

Low production values, good writing, quirky and interesting characterization in this Japanese Kick-Ass.

JDaZqVA.jpg

KILL LA KILL
Director: Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking)
Series Composition: Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann, Re: Cutie Honey)
Character Design: Sushio (One Piece Movie 6, Engage Planet Kiss Dum)
Animation Production: Trigger
Japanese Air Time: Fridays at 2:05 AM, starting 10/4
Trailer: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x14o2em_tv

It's crude, it's lewd, it's brash, it's fast, it's Imaishi.

tYOOW7u.jpg

YOZAKURA QUARTET: HANA NO UTA
Director/Character Design: Ryo-chimo (Birdy the Mighty Decode character designs)
Animation Production: Tatsunoko Production
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 11:30 PM, starting 10/6
Trailer: http://yozakura-anime.jp/pv_03.html

It delivers on the animation spectacle, but surprisingly also on fun character interactions. And pantyshots, if you care about that sort of thing.

sAuleJ3.jpg

YOWAMUSHI PEDAL
Director: Osamu Nabeshima (D. Gray-man, Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas)
Series Composition: Reiko Yoshida (K-ON, Girls und Panzer)
Animation Production: TMS Entertainment
Japanese Air Time: Tuesdays at 1:35 AM, starting on 10/8
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLZJUBspgO4

A gem of a sports series so far, with charming characters, well-visualized cycling, and exciting pacing.

gKpzvvY.jpg

HAJIME NO IPPO RISING
Director: Jun Shishido (Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, The Story of Saiunkoku)
Animation Production: Madhouse/MAPPA
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 1:35 AM, starting 10/6

Hajime no Ippo has a strong fanbase and a good reputation. Unfortunately, the anime has reached the point where manga readers say the story begins to go south, so how well this season to manage to stack up to the past ones remains to be seen. Impressions seem to be decent so far.

wJghCZW.jpg

WHITE ALBUM 2
Director: Masaomi Ando (Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse)
Chief Director: Seiya Numata (Milky Holmes S1-2 character designs)
Animation Production: Satelight
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 1:30 AM, starting 10/6
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rITDXhpfaE

A surprisingly well-executed, low-key visual novel adaptation, with a love triangle where you can actually understand why the members would fall for each other.

fPN4sBf.jpg

MEGANEBU
Director: Soubi Yamamoto (This Boy Can Fight Aliens!)
Animation Production: Studio DEEN
Japanese Air Time: Mondays at midnight, starting 10/7
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olBsGuxnbxo

Soubi Yamamoto makes her TV debut at the fresh young age of 23 after directing a couple BL shorts at Shinkai's studio Comix Wave. With weird indie direction and the gaudiest art direction this side of Trapeze, this is perplexing but mildly amusing fun. ALL YOU NEED IS M-E-G-A-N-E.

NsgEB2E.jpg

COPPELION
Director/Character Design: Shingo Suzuki (K)
Animation Production: GoHands
Japanese Air Time: Wednesdays at 9 PM,, starting 10/2
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqNivE8KhGM

How many different filters will GoHands use? Watch to find out! Or not.

EqRsgWK.jpg

NON NON BIYORI
Director: Shinya Kawamo (Kokoro Connect)
Series Composition: Reiko Yoshida (K-ON, Girls und Panzer)
Animation Production: Silver Link
Japanese Air Time: Tuesdays at 1:35 AM, starting 10/8
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtOCzzLNsOY

If you're looking for a new cute girls doing cute things show, this is pretty much your only option this season. The rural setting gives it a unique hook. Quite a few people like this.

cdDMYDF.jpg

GOLDEN TIME
Director: Chiaki Kon (Higurashi, Umineko)
Animation Production: J.C. Staff
Japanese Air Time: Fridays at 2:35 AM, starting 10/4
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9tcyonlZAM

Seems like a mediocre adaptation, as you'd expect from Chiaki Kon.

DjFbUzF.jpg

LOG HORIZON
Director: Shinji Ishihara (Fairy Tail, Tokyo Majin)
Animation Production: Satelight
Japanese Air Time: Saturdays at 5:30 PM, starting 10/5
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhXgBkeduII

It's like Sword Art Online, but without the incest. Or the harem. Or the overpowered protagonist. Or the eyeball licking. And with Jouji Nakata playing a dapper catman. And airing on public educational television. So it's really not like Sword Art Online at all. Perhaps the most accurately researched MMO anime yet?

ACecXMb.jpg

GINGITSUNE
Director: Shin Misawa (Fire Emblem, Capeta)
Animation Production: Diomedia
Japanese Air Time: Mondays at 1:05 AM, starting 10/7
Trailer: http://gingitsune.net/pv_02.html

Kind of relaxing but kind of clumsy.

1PP2lwU.jpg

KUROKO'S BASKETBALL SEASON 2
Director: Shunsuke Tada (Kuroko S1, Bungaku Shoujo)
Animation Production: Production I.G.
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 1:58 AM, starting on 10/6
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ox9aQTegrU

The trailer shows that Kazuto Nakazawa is back with some delicious basketball animation. I'm sure there'll be plenty of delicious BL teasing too for those of you into that.

gt2T2U2.jpg

ACE OF DIAMOND
Director: Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Polar Bear's Cafe, Chi's Sweet Home)
Animation Production: Madhouse/Production I.G.
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 8:30, starting on 10/6
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RUV98RNnNg

Baseball with SHOUNEN emotions.

UcMKYDt.jpg

KYOUKAI NO KANATA
Director: Taichi Ishidate (Nichijou assistant director)
Animation Production: Kyoto Animation
Japanese Air Time: Thursdays at 12:30 AM, starting 10/3
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnfeVrAAS2k

KyoAni applies their technical prowess to some of the worst light novel dreck out there.

cPCIJA9.jpg

GALILEI DONNA
Director: Yasuomi Umetsu (Kite, Mezzo Forte)
Character Designer: Shingo Adachi (Working!, Sword Art Online)
Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Japanese Air Time: Fridays at 12:50 AM, starting 10/11
Trailer: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x14wfja_galilei-donna-pv_shortfilms

Umetsu shows that he can't tell a decent story.

9xOSx5U.jpg

MAGI: THE KINGDOM OF MAGIC
Director: Koji Masunari (Magi S1, Welcome to the Space Show)
Series Composition: Hiroyuki Yoshino (Guilty Crown, Macross Frontier)
Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 5 PM, starting on 10/6
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ8cFBcXYsk

Mor.

BRnUN1R.jpg

ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL
Director: Seiji Kishi (Devil Survivor 2, Danganronpa)
Animation Production: SANZIGEN
Japanese Air Time: Tuesdays at 2:55 AM
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30GHXmIyWJk

As a full-length CG TV series from SANZIGEN it's a curiosity, but the implementation still leaves something to be desired, not to mention Kishi is the laziest director alive.

Qy3qWWh.jpg

BLAZBLUE ALTER MEMORY
Director: Hideki Tachibana (Dragon Crisis, H20)
Assistant Director: Seiji Mizushima (Un-Go, Natsuiro Kiseki)
Animation Production: Hoods Entertainment/teamKG
Japanese Air Time: Wednesdays at 12:30 AM, starting 10/9
Trailer: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k3DNfJmkyuEd4A4qdhu

Without adapting the gag endings, there's really not much point.

IStu6JR.jpg

NAGI NO ASUKARA
Director: Toshiya Shinohara (Red Data Girl, Black Butler)
Series Composition: Mari Okada (Hanasaku Iroha, Aquarion Evol)
Original Character Design: Buriki (Haganai)
Animation Production: P.A. Works
Japanese Air Time: Thursdays at 10 PM, starting 10/3
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpWCIwPQS3Y

Okada writes that tangled romantic drama she does so, er, characteristically.

There's more... but does anyone care?

LITTLE BUSTERS REFRAIN
Director: Yoshiki Yamakawa (Little Busters, Kill Me Baby)
Animation Production: J.C. Staff
Japanese Air Time: Saturdays at 8:30 PM
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNEQUd7BT_U

The patented Key melodrama will kick into full gear in this season, so if you're into that, have fun. Expect ghosts.

SEKAI DE ICHIBAN TSUYOKU NARITAI! (Wanna Be the Strongest in the World)
Director: Rion Kujo (Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, Samurai Harem)
Animation Production: ARMS
Japanese Air Time: Sundays at 8:30 PM
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC5P8lRD-X0

Closest thing to porn you'll get on TV.

YUUSHA NI NARENAKATTA ORE WA SHIBUSHIBU SHUUSHOKU WO KETSUI SHIMASHITA (Yusibu)

Character Design: Tetsuya Takeuchi (Yuji Seijin Naoko-san)

This might have been posted already, but interesting bit about KLK's recent script from Trigger's newsletter:

Higuchi@Trigger said:
A lot of people probably noticed the difference in the script. To reveal the secret, the scripts for episode four and five is actually not done by Mr. Nakashima. Episode four is done by the creative officer Hiromi Wakabayashi, and episode five is done by Hiroshi Seko!

. . .Although all of the scripts will be done by Mr. Nakashima from episode 6. . .

I'd say they both did a good job, since those were the best episodes so far in my opinion.

That IE mahou shoujo makes me feel uncomfortable.

Is hyperneptunia neptunia exactly as shit as I imagine it to be, or...?

Hoping Galilei Donna picks up and finishes strong.

That IE mahou shoujo makes me feel uncomfortable.

Is hyperneptunia neptunia exactly as shit as I imagine it to be, or...?

I liked it, though it does have a big roster and some strange episodes. First few episodes are nice and then it kinda loses momentum.

This may be a bit of a tangent, but if these stuff don't do well commercially then how come they keep getting adapted? Is it that easy to get an anime serialized?

Is hyperneptunia neptunia exactly as shit as I imagine it to be, or...?

It's decent , they actually know what they are doing and aren't exageratting on the setting.
It's watchable as long as you don't expect AOTY.

Plot is based on the second and third game that are legit improvements over the very poor first attempt.

Naruto Shippuden Episode 337 – The Izanami Activated
tumblr_mvw8f38xyU1qbxqfpo1_500.png
tumblr_mvw8f38xyU1qbxqfpo2_500.png

Cute impatient little brother Sasuke was pretty fun and hilarious to see during this episode helping lighten up some of the Izanami events going on. Along with that it was a great adaptation of the material and kind of a bit easier to follow than the associated chapters. I think they did a good job not trying to put the explanation of the technique this episode by having the Tailed Beast Counting Song and the Ending Theme play when it reached the 19 minute mark. I hope it will be explained well as the text explanation in the manga was a bit confusing to me back then, though that was just a quick read and I hadn't gone to reread it indepth.

Kyouka no Kanata EP 6
Funniest episode of the show yet. This would have been the best episode had Kyoani spent less time exploring fetishes. I literally died at the shower scenes and the singing at the very end.
Bubble girl
had me in tears and they just killed it with that
youmu girl
doing the lead vocals haha. This should have been the boss youmu instead of that cloud.

Hajime no Ippo (whatever it's called) 5
The best episode of the show so far. Aoki is the man this season and he fucking deserves to wear that belt. It honestly felt like the fight should have been over this episode so I'm going to be sweating bullets until I have audio confirmation of Kimura calling Aoki "sir". Those moves he pulled off were sick haha. The music leaves much to be desired. The audio fit pretty well when Aoki was all deformed though haha.

Galilei Donna EP 4
Most boring episode of the week. I'm about ready to drop this nonsense.

Monogatari S2 EP 18
Over 9000 times better than episode 17. The beautiful scrolling backgrounds, narration by Shinobu and music came together to make for a hell of an episode this week. Shinobu Prime must have been a sight to behold. That is one hell of a shitty experience she had with her
first and only minion
though. All this just makes me want to see Kizumonogatari more. :/

Valvrave the liberator Season 1
I couldn't stop watching. This show just pulled me in and never let go. It took practically all I've got to stop myself at the end of season 1 haha. This must be what happens when you give "crazy" wads of cash. I honestly can't remember if I saw any giant robot shows after Gundam Seed (which I hated with a passion for some reason). The shows were practically dead to me, but Valvrave just brought the subgenre roaring back for me. I have no clue why people hate :L-elf so far, but I like him. He brings the action and keeps these greens alive. This show would have ended in like 3 episodes if it weren't for his cunning. The cuts to the far future are tripping me the fuck out. It feels like some star wars nonsense which I find fun. What the fuck is going on with that eyepatched dude who turned into a wizard though? I don't even know where this show is headed anymore lol.

Steins;Gate EP 17-24
wow wow wow

This show was a rollercoaster. I mean that quite literally. Characters I thought I'd never see again make a triumphant reappearance, the D-mail twist was horrifying and the budding relationship between
Okabe and Kurisu
was perfect. I am so hoping for some kind of sequel. I have to watch the OVAs that came out and I gotta buy the blu-ray. I didn't shed a single tear, but I sympathized so hard with these characters and the struggle Okabe had to go through.

Log Horizon EP 1-5
I'm really enjoying this so far. It's not getting tripped up on fetishes and the main character isn't an inexplicable babe magnet that gets all the gamer girls. The ninja watching his back is pretty hilarious though. It's not as pretty as SAO, but the battles are solid enough and the cohesiveness of the cast is great. It won't be in my top ten for this year, but I'm glad that I finally started watching it.

Hyouka - 02 (rewatch)

This feel even better on rewatch, so good.. Such a good looking show, so many attention to the details, I especially liked they use so many angle for just one room like this.

I should taking notice if they reusing a lot of these in future episode though

I always liking the banter between the character in this show, but Chitanda oppression to Oreki felt funnier and ridiculous (in a good way) in this rewatch

There's other moment that more often got screenshot or .gif, but this the one that really made me laugh. No shit Oreki got disturbed lol

And last, there's chunk of characterization that you can really appreciate after rewatch like Oreki feel he just different than others when seeing the rest of group chatting, Its pleasant to see that after knowing where the show goes, just satisfying all around.

Came for the passionate and intense Akihito Hiromi shower scenes but then was left with so much more. Episode gave me many of the same feelings UtaPri dance sequences evoked and the song was alright too. Hiromi and Akihito's moves and that final pose, amazing. All around just one plain hilarious and fun episode for everyone involved. Akihito and Hiromi should sport the sleeveless look more often, much better than their traditional outfit. Additionally, they are so similar in the things they are passionate about, that whole outdoors scene was amazing.

So how has Gingitsune been so far? Just more of what we got with the first episode? I'm behind on a few shows, and that's the lowest on my watch priorities. I'm thinking of dropping it.

Everyone should watch Kyousougiga btw. I'm up to EP 4 and this show just oozes charm and personality. I can't wait for the action to ramp up again. As much as I love the reminiscing I really fell in love with the show because of the crazy OVA (episode 0) with it's over the top action scenes and the trolling Koto and her brothers inflicted on the city.

I will never understand the love Kyousougiga has been getting. Tis a decent series that is currently being mired in endless dull and repetitive backstory and expostion in order to make this thing make sense. Truly the overrated series of the season.

I didn't mean for this to happen.

Don't worry, you could have written "Don't watch SAO unless you've figured out how to be monetarily compensated for doing so, otherwise your time would be better spent doing literally anything else. Perhaps even real life incest." and that would pull in a few more viewers.

Maybe reverse psychology is worth a shot. There are people who haven't seen Wolf Children yet, for example. "It's the best anime of the year." "Eh, I'll get to it when I get to it."

I understand that there are too much backstory , but i can't for the heck of it find it repetitive.
Each backstory was focused on 1 character explaining what they felt and how they adapted to the new city after their parent left , each time with a different view point and featuring different events.

If anything i cannot find the repetitive aspect , like at all.

I like it for another reason, kinda must adjust my expectation to it though. Its going to different direction than what I thought.

It is repetitive if you have been paying attention, in fact, this is a big reason why I have been slowly turning against this series. It is a smart and sharp program when it wants to be, the problem is it is making everything way too straightforward for a series this based in surreality.

Maturity, bitches.
Remember how in the Anime Voting thread of 2012 I wrote this about SAO:

"no one wants to talk about this show ever again."

Guess I was totally wrong.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree then . I mean the anime is not without problems but for me it has more problems and just being repetitive.

For example you could argue that there are too many flashbacks , or you could argue that nothing get done ( even if it isn't the point ) or the way each character was introduced felt uneven ...

But repetitive ?

It's not a matter of "not paying attention" , each episode has been quite different in their "theme "used and even the way they used flashbacks.

So it's finally time !

Hall of fame time !

Code:
cajunator 1,117
KirbYayoi 857
CorvoSol 699
Gazoinks 617
Admiral Woofington 565
Articalys 542
Branduil 518
Hitokage 510
Jarmel 461
ZachDeKoromaru 412

Admiral does pretty good for it's first time , but cajun remain the undisputed champion.

Still in the top 10 I see, what am I doing with my life?

Well that thread wrapped up quickly.

Didn't even make the wall of shame this time. Ah well. I'll probably get back on it once I find another anime that'll hook me like Gurren Lagann or Code Geass did.
