You know, I realized I didn't ever finish Fate/Zero as during that time I paused my marathon of it to marathon through the first 7 episodes of Attack on Titan which I became hooked onto. Now after watching... 5 series?... Fate/Zero popped back into my head and now it's time to finish, right at when the second half starts.

Fate/Zero 13

Damn I forgot how amazing the production quality in Fate/Zero was.
Gilgamesh and Berserker's aerial flight was awesome and since Sakura is shown as the sister of Rin with the same hair color I wonder how her hair became purple? As for Caster's summon I wonder if the show will explicitly name it as I really want to be C'thulu.

Aw man, the second half of F/Z is even better than the first. Have fun!

By fun I mean crushing depression.

Revolutionary Girl Utena 30

Akio stop seducing Utena. What I have learned from this episode is Akio exudes some kind of magical pheromone.

"I've been seeing this car a lot lately." Did... did you seriously just notice?

Anthy was majorly creepin' in this episode.

I'm fairly certain that Akio was conceived of the pheromones like Anakin Skywalker.

Blood C 7

It's Morphing Time!!

I swear I've seen this multi armed Samurai swordsman giant somewhere before, I just don't remember where . . .

I can't shake the feeling that I have definitely seen this cryptic, yet adorable little mammal mascot intent on granting school girl's wishes before, but where?

So yeah, here are my wild guesses based on what I have seen so far:

Saya is her own mother, or rather Saya is an Elder Bairn, has no mother, and that's all a lie that Tadayoshi's fed her to keep her fighting the Elder Bairn for him. Tadayoshi is the one who broke the covenant, which was a St. George's Dragon set up, where humans fed humans to the Elder Bairns in exchange for not total annihilation. Tadayoshi's wife was the last sacrifice, possibly to Saya, and that's what that is about.

Edward Cullen is also an Elder Bairn who made a bet with Saya that humanity couldn't beat the Elder Bairns or something, and Saya made a deal with Kyubey to become a Magical Girl to beat him, but sold her memory as the price. Edward Cullen's barometers are because it is getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes.

Saya is having an anneurism, and none of this is real at all. The lancing light pain in her skull is piercing glimpses of reality where she is dying /90skidsshowconspiracytheory.

Has CLAMP ever made a show which was not Awesome/"Awesome"?

These aren't bad guesses. I'm not saying if any of them are right or wrong per se, but there is logic behind most of them.

So I take it his amazing powers of seduction aren't a plot point? He's just that good?

We need some joint Touga Akio stripping action like in the Sega Saturn opening. The car doesn't count, despite being pretty great.

An identity crisis implies you had an identity to begin with.

KnK has no identity. It doesn't have a story. It doesn't even have real characters. There's no there there. It's empty and void, a soulless husk. It's nothing but a mechanical collection of things the author saw and enjoyed in other works. Every story ever written is full of tropes, but it does not follow that just mashing a bunch of tropes together means you've created a story.

I blame TV Tropes for causing people to seem to believe this.

I'm watching KnK for the animation, I swear.

It's pretty much Babby's First Media Analysis. Not really the site's fault though, it just gets misused.

It also doesn't help that the site itself feels like You have to be in the Know to even get what's being referenced. It's so dumb.

I'm sorry peaceiscloser but your idea would have made for a terrible show. All the good guys teaming up together is how every other show does it and its dumb and unrealistic everytime. R2's ending is one of the things I thought the Code Geass series actually did right. In spite of all the batshit craziness, they actually found an out and made an ending that was plenty satisfying.

You're right, and in the end it does figure itself out, but I'm probably just saying stupid things because the hurt from that twist is still fresh in my mind lol

on the topic of Geass, I found this part hilarious on a Code Geass Wiki:
However, the arms of Britannia depicted on the flag are not correct in the heraldic sense. For example, in the arms the serpent's Vert (green) meets the field's Sable (black) - both Vert and Sable are colors and thus may only meet metal, such as Argent (silver/white) and Or (gold/yellow). A similar mistake is seen in the mantling - the green leaves or cloth around the arms. The rule has it that the color is - unless the opposite is specified - always on the outside and the metal on the inside, while two colors may never meet even in the mantling. The lack of a motto despite the existance of The closest attempt to blazoning the depicted coat of arms of Britannia would be:

"Sable a lion Or langued Gules and a serpent Vert langued Gules(or proper), both winged Argent , fighting and intertwined. Mantled Vert and Imperially crowned proper."

TVTropes helped call attention to common elements throughout media, but also dumbed down discussion as now everything get shoehorned into one category or another.

Yeah, most of the time when I browse the examples it tends to be a really big stretch.

I think they've been moving away from the let's-make-all-the-trope-names-in-jokes thing, although I haven't visited it extensively in a while.

Ookiku Furikabutte - The Summer Tournament Chapter 01

The first thing that pops is the visual improvement to the show. Everything just looks nicer and cleaner and it shows when they flash back to the first season, lol.

I thought it was pretty nice to get two rival characters to basically recap the big game and it was a nice and deep look into strategy.

Already looking forward to watching one whole game in the next 12 episodes!

I haven't either. That sounds nice, but at the same time... I really don't want the chance to get sucked in to see if they did.

They have, and a lot of people were pissed about it.

Although I think more people were pissed off when they took off the hentai and porn stuff, which I think was around the same time.

Well, goes to show I can still make edumukatud guesses every once in a while.

Akio is sexy. Don't worry your pretty little head about why.

Blood-C 8

This is easily the least most professional censorship job in the history of anime. And I've watched the dubbed versions of DBZ and Tenchi Muyo.

Some stuff from the last thread I wanted to reply to...

Save 'N Quit said:
He chooses Akane.

That wouldn't be so bad but she loses her red haired, fiery personality and the author explicity makes Shizuku cry about not being chosen.
Save 'N Quit said:
Nope.

He stays as a male in both the LN and Manga.
Unforgivable!
Just having a 'he does end up with Akane' end wouldn't be THAT bad, but having Shikuzu cry, and Akane loses her more interesting side, and Natsuru loses his as well (girl version)... ugh! What a horrible ending!

I like the series, but that's one bad ending.
Okay, losing their Kampfer powers makes sense given that in the end they surely beat the Moderators, stop the awful "game", etc... but still, pretty disappointing stuff. Worst of all of course is that Shikuzu doesn't win; I don't dislike Akane, but Shikuzu is so much better... it's a predictable move, since Akane is the main female character, but it wasn't a good one.

How will A Black Falcon be able to withstand Smile Precure?

The world may never know.
The characters in that act like complete idiots, then, I assume? I imagine I wouldn't be able to withstand it. I did manage to watch all of Sailor Moon, but that was quite a trial sometimes, between all of the repetition and how incredibly stupid the main character is... never tried to watch any Precure other than a couple of episodes of HeartCatch, though, and it didn't interest me enough to keep watching.

Serial Experiment Lain - 13
OK, Now this eps I don't really understand shit of it.

That was awesome ride btw, I can't say much of it but I'm so engrossed and immersed with each episode, its so captivating..

The story is much less confusing than I thought will be like the last two eps of Evangelion for the whole show, I can get the most of information aside for last episode, not counting the meta and symbolism though.. those kind of stuff always passing my head.

Amazing show.
Wair, are you confused, or not? You say you don't understand it, but then that it wasn't as confusing as you expected... so which is it? I thought the last episode did a great job of explaining just about everything, so as to avoid Evangelion's problem just about completely.

Also, yeah, it's the best TV anime ever for a reason! Such an incredible show. So the question is, how long will it be until you can look at power lines in the same way again... :)

Dual!! Parallel Trouble Adventures 8
Dual's good... might even be my favorite Tenchi-related thing apart from the first two seasons of the Tenchi OVA. It's reasonably well thought through, for its genre particularly, as you noticed.

Also, Gundam Age sounds really, really horrible.

Others actually believing that Natsume is a guy is well, way beyond my suspension of belief. I had though others were just going along with the pretense, but actually believing it considering her character design, voice, and name? This is worse than even the usual unconvincing anime character pretending to be a different gender.
Yeah, this is a good point. Natsume's look and voice are both pretty much entirely feminine. Sure, she's in a boys' uniform, but that doesn't mean she look anything like a boy. She doesn't, and isn't trying very hard to seem like one either. How exactly have her classmates not noticed that she's a girl? The series hasn't even attempted to explain it.

peaceiscloser said:
Actually, I really don't.

It makes it so people get antsy about spoilers, and then they overhype twists ruining the impact for anybody who hears about it. I actually prefer my stuff to have minimal mystery.

There are a few very notable exceptions, though.
Sometimes I read descriptions of the story of something before watching/playing it, so I can decide whether I actually want to watch it or not... so yeah, I don't like surprises either. I'd often rather spoil myself first, so I can avoid the pain of watching something I would end up hating... such as, perfect example, that horrible atrocity of a series there, Code Geass! I mean, I disliked the first episode and would not have continued watching anyway (stupid pointless violence mixed, no thanks), but
reading about how the MC proves himself to be a villain protagonist and not any kind of hero when he murders someone who did nothing wrong except for obeying an instruction that she was under HIS magical compulsion to obey? Conclusive moral event horizon indeed.

On that note, it wasn't quite on that level, but the events of ep. 18 of Gosick, where the main characters cross a moral event horizon of sorts... just because I wish I HAD been spoiled for that, so I'd have known to drop the series at ep. 17. The series was on a decline anyway, but I did not expect that... unfortunately. I could explain it again, but I've said before about how disturbing that episode was.. but the main characters' behavior at the end was awful.

JCG said:
If we're talking scale here...the TV ending of Evangelion was more abrupt and the real world controversy was so much greater that it led to some Japanese people sending in letters with death threats.
Little would those people complaining know that the TV ending of Evangelion was actually by far the better one, compared to the EoE ending that followed... and given the way the new movies are going, I expect it to probably be even worse.

There should be a dating sim where you play as Akio. It'd be the easiest game ever.

This was the
incest
episode.

Akio's harem is now every girl in the show except Jury.

"People tend to trust the people they're in love with, they can't tell if they're being used." HINT HINT.

Show, I told you to stop making me feel sorry for Nanami.

As far as I care to know, I'm entirely correct.

TVTropes is still there though ._.

Yes.

I'm betting that it would be difficult to even make it past the intro due to the stupidity.

Samurai Flamenco 5

I was expecting Samurai Flamenco and Flamenco Girl
to finally split up
but I certainly didn't expect
Mari to create a Magical Girl Trio with the other two idols.
lmao this fukken show is incredible

Fate/Zero 15

This episode was great for each of the Servants were featured doing battle.
Caster finally got taken out and Matou got pwnt by Tousaka. Really interested in what Berserker's identity is (also Assassin's as I don't recall it being revealed earlier, if it did then I forgot).

I say that the new OP and ED are nice to listen to with the new ED being superior to the first. As for the new OP, I really like the intro of it... the rest of it makes me wish for the previous OP back.

I get most of it, which by far so much more than I'd expect to.

The bit that I didn't understand is the one in last eps.

Lain revert the time? considering what that happened to the 'god'
I get the whole series is about memory manipulation, but does Lain have power to control time too lol

Yozakura Quartet - Episode 5

Holy shit. That was a blast to watch. No lewdness, action packed, stuff getting real, great animation, no signs of the FBI coming for me. Fantastic stuff. This episode was produced by Trigger too. What a great showing. The only bad part is that it looks like a two-parter, so I'm going to have to wait a few days for the conclusion. When this show is good, it's surprisingly really good.

Well that's not quite true. The camera is up girls butts quite often you just don't see any panties or actual 'butts'.

The part towards the end definitely tugged at a few heartstrings, but I felt like they didn't develop these characters well enough for it to really matter. If they really are gone, as a viewer I don't feel sympathetic. What was their reason for being in the story? Will it provide Hozuki with the resolve to protect someone later in the show, or will they write it out and forget it even happened? Hopefully the former will happen (so it'll at least have an effect on the characters), but I'm expecting the latter considering how rushed it feels. In a 22+ episode show, that wouldn't have happened until the second or last episode in that arc.

I think what really got me about it all was that Hozuki basically fell in love with Theo, so when he died, Hozuki was broken down into tears and it all just came through. I guess also it was because I never expected them to introduce characters, build them up through the main characters (and by giving them a basic story), then kill them all in the same episode. I was just completely unprepared.

I am with you though, hopefully they take the opportunity given by these characters death to really build out Hozuki in the future episodes.

Fate/Zero 16

The end of honor indeed. What can I say I really like this episode for showing the flaws of positive concepts such as hope and honor; Saber is cool and all but I find her ideals naive
(which is also carried onto Fate/Stay Night)
Kiritsugu is such a badass compared to
his adopted son Shirou.

Yeah, this was a great episode.
Lancer and Kayneth's deaths were nasty, but it's really easy to sympathize with the way Kiri works.

Seriously, KnK's 6th episode is one of the better KyoAni episodes I've seen in awhile. Certainly better than anything in Chuuni.
