Joy spoke to Collider recently about Reminiscence, a new movie starring Hugh Jackman which serves as Joy’s directorial debut. When asked about the Fallout show during part of that conversation, she said it would be unlike anything anyone’s ever seen before.

“It is just a gonzo, crazy, funny, adventure, and mindfuck like none you’ve ever seen before,” Joy said. “It’s pretty cool.”

Joy offered similar comments when speaking to BroBible about the Fallout show. The word “gonzo” came up once more as well as “irreverent and mad and humorous” to give some ideas about the types of tones that the creators are looking to strike with the Fallout show.

“We’re producing it for these two brilliant writers and the world that they are making is so gonzo and so fucking crazy,” Joy said. “It’s just ridiculously baller and I can’t wait. It’s totally irreverent and mad and humorous and just insane. It’s just insane.”

Howard was asked about Fallout during a Reddit Q&A celebrating the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Anniversary Edition. While Howard had little to say about the project, fans of the games should be happy to hear that the show hasn't been given the axe!

"Moving ahead. Really excited to be working with Jonah, Lisa, and Amazon on it," Howard wrote on Reddit.

The debut episode will be directed by Westworld co-creator and executive producer Jonathan Nolan, Deadline reports.

Captain Marvel and Tomb Raider 2018 film co-writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Silicon Valley co-executive producer Graham Wagner, have also been appointed as showrunners.

Nolan, fellow Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham will executive produce the Fallout series for Kilter Films, along with Bethesda Game Studios game director Todd Howard and Bethesda Softworks‘ James Altman.

I loved me some Shane from the shield; only other decent thing he was in was the hateful eight

A job listing on the industry website StuntAccess is looking for new hires for the Fallout gig. Prospective stunt performers would start work on June 20, 2022, in New York. It’s exciting to see that this project is actually happening and getting off the ground after years of rumors!

Unfortunately, the job listing doesn’t give us new plot details. The logline from the stunt website states, “The future once envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself after a nuclear war in 2077.” It does give us a tidbit about casting. At least some of the project is being cast by renowned casting director John Papsidera.

We can also report that the Fallout TV series uses the working title or code-name of “Hondo.” Why a working title? Film and tv productions often use a different title during production to try to keep details under wraps. Marvel does this if you’re a fan of the MCU, and fans have made quite the sport of guessing what colorful names match upcoming projects.
