I'm glad Bleach doesn't suck. Not that I give a crap about the anime, I just dig me some Treasure. That they like Indigo Prophecy is a mark of good taste as far as I'm concerned. And I'm surprised that Dawn of Dreams is out already, that seemed fast.

review =/= released.

releasedate is Jan 27th 2006.
Games should be/are reviewed before releasedate.

How are 7's "bad". Most places use 7 as "average" and Famitsu might go by EGM's "5 is average" scale. And we al know Battlefront 2 is good.

Are you a newbie to Famitsu reviews? :p

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Unless the conversion was screwed up, I'd like to know how Bleach DS scores higher than Samurai Spirits. Or did Treasure just hand over more money than SNK this month? :D

Also what's with the low score for Power Smash (Virtua Tennis) PSP?

Fahrenheit must be like shenmue3 to them.
'Hello, I am a minority stereotype, have you seen an old lady?'

'Hello, I am looking for an old lady'

Ghost

Chili Con Carnage!
Cant believe Fahrenheit scored that well. I wouldnt have thought the japanese would have gone for a game with repetitive gameplay and a stupid storyline...

...oh wait.

Exactly.

If a game gets pure 8's and 9's it's a solid title.

However, a 7 isn't a good sign. Even in by itself.

Example: 9, 8, 7, 8--good review score? no, there is a 7. It sucks.

It's just as omnious as 7up.com, 1up's evil xbox 360 alter-ego site.

Anything 30 or less sucks. A 7 is okay if there is only one.

Oh dear - and some complain about Famitsu scores being too high.

Here's the Bleach DS review translated by Kiyoka from the GFAQs Bleach DS board:

I just gotten back from work, I went to the game shop to pick up the newest issue of Famitsu (with todays release of Ys The Ark of Napishtim for PSP.. couldnt resist.. heh)

anyway, after reading the review, I've decided to get it,
I wasnt going to before just seeing the numbers..
anyway~ this is all abstracted and translated from Famitsu.

Main summary of the game: over 25 characters to choose from, using cards to make your characters stronger in battle, up to 4 playes WiFi to battle each other.

Reviewer Francis Hayashi - 8
This game, because of WiFi connection, a rich selection of game modes, a good storyline. The battles are messy, but its not too bad for character balance. It is very good to use Super moves by just a tap of the screen, which is a very good design.

Reviewer Amanossan - 8
The main con about this game is, because the super move can be used by just tapping the screen, it is extremely friendly for new and old players, however, because this is on a portable, I think it doesnt suit the portable system, its too hard to play a fighting game on a portable system. However saying that, there are alot of characters and modes.

Reviewer Fukami Sandan - 7
As the other reviewers, this game really shines on how friendly this game is for new players. However my complaint is, there is too much unbalance in the characters, some you know are strong, are really powerful, where vice versa. Also, the story modes of the other characters seem to be rushed, so its a bit of a disappointment. However, if you are playing this WiFi, this is a great pick.

Reviewer Keiji Kawashima - 8
Alot of the characters in this game show great similarity in the manga, As mentioned before, its good for new players in the fighting genre. HOWEVER, to me, this game feels more like an action game than a fighting game

There you have it, the reason for the number. This is what I'd rather see than 8/8/7/8.

From what I've seen from the reviews, is that this is not like street fighter, its more of an action game, the good part about it is just tapping on the screen will unleash special attacks, and of course, Wifi.

I've preordered my copy tonight at the shop, they said I'll be able to pick it up on Monday.. then I'll give you all my review.. and hopefully see you all online ^^

After actually reading the reviews it sounds like a mediocre action/fighting game saved by online play.

I like the Bleach anime but I have no plans on getting any video game based on it.

I don't really understand how you can get mediocre out of that. All I got out of those reviews is that it seems more an action game then a fighting game and that the secondary playable characters don't really have a good story mode. Unbalaced characters are common in Treasure games, and games like Guardian Heroes turned out fine regardless.

Although I would not put it past you to be quick to mark a DS game mediocre.

Thanks.

Man, that's really sweet.
I'm surprised this feature isn't getting more advertisments.

Hell, its the first Japenese third aprty NWFC game, right?
Lost Magic uses WFC too.

I'd like to see a translation of the Onimusha 4 reviews. What I really want to know is how the co-op works. First they said it's just 1 player and you switch characters, then it was in but as an unlockable, and now I've heard it's 2 player from the start.

I dunno where you're hearing all that. The game has 5 different playable characters, as long as they're in the party you can swap them in/out with 2 characters at any time. You control one, the computer AI controls the other aided by your d-pad commands. The 2 player co-op mode is unlockable.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.

Has any of the newer NWFC games utilized any other online features like chatrooms or anything deeper than Mario Kart?

It's the only one I've experienced so far.

Judging from DOA4's 10, 9, 10, 10 scores, a 10 is "average" in Famitsu. 7 is "kill yourself."
