The first column is number of votes, second column is Famitsu's original cross review score, third column is average user score.
Got tired of filling the numbers in after 20, but put a few key numbers in there so maybe you can fill in the gaps using your imagination (kind of like ioi with sales data).

Sengoku Musou 2 at #5? Is that the game that is also known as Samurai Warriors 2, which got wonderful average scores (gamerankings) of 61.5% for the PS2 version and 55.2% for the 360 version? Now I know why they keep making those pieces of crap.

Famitsu's really out of sync with the dominant game situation in Japan. Interesting to see NSMB so low.

EDIT: #96 :lol :D

Shocked to see 360 games in there, shows that MS are doing something better in Japan that's for sure.

Lost Planet tied for number one, though? Wow. And I thought Lost Planet was aimed at western audiences, and yet critically, it did better in Japan. Commercially of course, it did much better here. Strange.

Excuse me but this list was made by Famitsu readers :p

obviously a userbase thats out of line with the market reality then :p though in reality i find it hard to say the list is accurate when vote totals can be so off. a title with only 90 votes can hardly be accurately compared to a title with 300 or 700.

I agree with you to some extent, but worse than that is that no weighting is applied based on recency. Something released in December is likely to get a higher score than something released in January.

That's what I meant. My initial sentence actually excluded the subject (Famitsu fanbase), but I tacked it on at the last second just because. ;)

Three 360 titles in the Top 15? Amazing!

So WHY is nobody buying the console, when the games are so well received???

Because the games are well received among a tiny group of people.

The only reasons why it gets low scores is because the reviewers stopped playing them and just tossed a random score on them. The Musou games are akin to yearly sports titles in that they have the same basic gameplay but always add new things to mix it up and make the game play a little different or have a fresh feel to it. The only thing that's different is that the reviewers want to play sports games so they actually look at it indepth before putting a score on it. The Musou games are never bad (well almost never) but they get labeled as such by people that don't even bother putting time into it.

does anyone here think that if we voted on the top 100 games of 2006 that it would remotely line up with sales?

i don't see why you should expect the opinions of *hardcore gamers* like us and famitsu readers to represent what sold.

I take these charts with a pinch of salt - after all the same readers post their 'most wanted' and that usually never gets reflected in the charts :)

Not really this surprising, the only people who vote in famitsu's polls are hardcore gamers, many of which are otaku who just play RPGs and stuff (just look at the top wanted section in Famitsu and see how many poor sellers constantly show up there). NSMB was the type of game that sold to casuals and non-gamers, etc.
