Ouch for Kuro no Kiseki much worse result than even I anticipated Hajimari no Kiseki debuted with 83K sales and managed 104K lifetime sales last year so a 39% decline YoY in terms of the launch and little hope it will surpass 75K before it exits the Top 30 as these games tend to be extremely front-loaded.

[PS2] Melty Blood: Act Cadenza - FW: 67,409 / LT: 124,880
[PS2] Melty Blood: Actress Again - FW: 42,489 / LT: 60,979
[PS4 / SWI] Melty Blood: Type Lumina FW: 30,437

Debuted lower than the PS2 games but I think most expected that. Will be interesting to see how good the legs are.

Also interesting to see that the PS4 version debuted higher when for Tsukihime it was the Switch version debuting higher.

Metroid will not sell in Japan. In UK the sales will be lukewarm as well. It will do most of it's work elsewhere and in NA in particular.

OLED will sell whatever they can ship in Japan and the US for the foreseeable future.

Metroid Dread will have a great result for a Metroid game in Japan, its likely to end up the second best selling game in the franchise in Japan.

In terms of OLED, I think they will ship under 1.5 million units to Japan and around 6 million World Wide, which will be around 40-50% of their hardware sales this Q4 with OG making up 30-40% and Lite the remaining 10-20%.
In Japan Switch is heading for it's best holiday Quarter yet, beating out 2020. We have a New Horizon update, Mario Party Superstars, Pokemon Remakes, SMT V, and a bunch of other third party games and the above mentioned Metroid. A varied software lineup that will help hardware sales momentum.
In 2020 where they managed 2 million across OG/Lite, due to New Horizon momentum & Ring Fit stock. The biggest games launched were Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Momotaro & Age of Calamity combined both games ended up with just 2 million sales last year, Pokemon alone will outsell them combined. OLED combined with software make it far more explosive in terms of final results. We could end up seeing something over 2.5 million hardware in a best case scenario:

Switch 2021 Q4: OLED, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Super Mario Superstars,
Switch 2020 Q4: 2.002.858 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Momotaro, Age of Calamity
Switch 2019 Q4: 1.975.243 - Switch Lite, Pokemon Sword/Shield
Switch 2018 Q4: 1.755.871 - Ultimate, Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go
Switch 2017 Q4: 1.598.575 - Super Mario Odyssey,

It's the perfect storm at the moment for Nintendo they haven't actually had such a strong lineup since 2018 and I expect for this quarter the sheer volume of titles to outsell the combined results of Ultimate, SMP & Lets Go which managed 4.37 million sales in Q4 2018. But outside of those three only DQB 2 achieved more than 150K that year in Q4. Something at least two party games will achieve this Quarter. Overall 2020 this was the strongest quarter for third parties on the Switch due to Momotaro & Age of Calamity but lacked the Nintendo or Pokemon big holiday title, momentum from New Horizon and Ring Fit were enough while Pikmin 3 Deluxe was the major 1st party release with over 400K sales.

I could easily foresee this Q4 reach something above 5.5 million across just new titles.

Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl >2500K
Mario Party Superstars >800K
SMT V >400K
Power Pro Kun Pocket R >300K
Metroid >250K
TOTAL: 4250K

We've got SMT V, Pocket R, Voice of Cards, Super Robot Wars 30, Disney Magical World 2, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, Blue Reflection: Second Light, Megaton Musashi, Danganronpa Trilogy Pack, Monark also to launch from a third party perspective that's a lot of games compared to past year's Q4 line-ups on the Switch. This will be enhanced by the fact we actually have more than five third party evergreen titles doing the work.
The combination of OLED and first and second party software will do a lot of work. It will be great to see Switch reach DS heights two years in a row with Splatoon 3, Arceus, BotW sequel just around the corner.
We will see, as every year Nintendo has disappointing me with the amount of hardware they provide to Japan for Q4 it could just end up flat and it would still be a great result. But for me at least I think they can achieve greater peaks.

Those numbers would be fantastic but I think they are a little optimistic, especially for just sales in Q4.

No PowerPro has ever reached 300,000 lifetime, SMTIV didn't reach 300,000 and Metroid Fusion only did155,000. Maybe I will be proven wrong though!
