Third parties haven't been too great year so far in 2022 (outside of Elden Ring and partly eBaseball) should pick up more later but hopefully we get more third party games dated and announced.

Wow, Switch sports did better than I thought!

And if both weeks are combined, then the hardware sales are a bit dissapointing to be honest. But nothing terrible.

Sony really needs a portable solution for the Japanese market. Either that, or they enter some strategic alliance with Nintendo?

Hopefully one that ends better than the Play Station. Anyway tho, good numbers but especially for Nintendo.

Portable solution won't really help Sony, what they need is Japanese third parties to start delivering PS exclusives with a wide appeal again.

Japan is strictly a casual market now it seems. Nintendo should go all in and just put those gacha games on the Switch and they'll rule Japan forever.

I think they're doing pretty well as is.

Gacha gaming needs to go, I don't care how. Even an E.T. type fiasco would mean nothing because the digital nature of the market enables it.

Final Fantasy 7 remake, Monster Hunter World... It literally doesn't get bigger than this.
And that's exactly what Sony needs more of. FF7 remake was two years ago and there likely won't be anything as big for PlayStation until FF16 releases.

What makes Japan more casual than any other market? In the console market gacha mechanics seem more popular in the West than they are in Japan, given the popularity of FIFA and Call of Duty there.

they just think Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Breath of the Wild, Pokemon, Splatoon, Kirby, Mario Kart, Switch Sports game, random Jrpg = filthy games for the casuals

Call of Duty, Uncharted,The Last of Us, Cyberpunk, Assasins Creed, Realistic racing/sports game = hardcore
