I've said it in other threads but this game is totally worth getting. The Wii U version is solid and this version is likely to be even better.

I think reviewers are going to trash it for the most part because it plays like a PS2 game but if you like the gameplay in previous Fatal Frame titles, this is just more of the same. Atmosphere is top notch and the story is engaging.

Basically, ignore the reviews if they're largely bad and try this out if you've been wanting to. It's a solid game worth checking out, especially now that we're in Halloween season.

I think reviewers gonna trash this game, but not because the reasons you're saying. Anw, I never played the Wii U version, so I getting REmake vibes over this game.
So it's definitely not up to REmake levels but it's a solid game. There is one area in particular with a certain type of ghost that was really memorable. The area itself is cool cause it's a flooded graveyard, and then in the distance I see something approaching. I'm like, "Is that ghost really that tall....OH SHIT, retreat!!!" lol.

In spite of how many fans Koei Tecmo's horror series Fatal Frame has, it has always been a bit of a niche franchise. Its last mainline entry, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, launched exclusively for the Wii U back in 2014- and the series' inherently niche nature combined with the extremely limited player base of the Wii U meant that the game was always fighting an uphill battle when it came to mainstream penetration and sales.

Seven years on from its original release though, it's being given a new lease of life, with Koei Tecmo bringing the game to modern consoles, and for the first time for a Fatal Frame game in a while, to other platforms as well. And as we count the days down to its imminent launch, here, we're going to talk about a few key details you should know about the game itself, followed by the big talking points of what to expect from its upcoming remaster.

Put a few hours in over the weekend, hadn't played this game in almost a year.

Still really enjoying it, it has it's issues for sure, mainly in that most of the areas are incredible confined so it can make combat clunky at times. However, the game on Normal really isn't that difficult, I never run out of film or healing items.

One of the most recent chapters was really cool, it involved monitoring security cameras in your home to check for ghosts and then exploring the house as they make their way inside. Not quite FNAF but it felt really fresh and definitely kept me on edge.

Really exciting that this game is getting such a wide release. I really hope the numbers are good cause this game is definitely worth playing if you like horror/survival-horror games.

Just make an article asking "Is this the Dark Souls of Japanese Horror games?" And watch as the gaming journalist community all jump on the band wagon to give it 9/10's

Just wondering if anyone knows, but which version is best to buy if you want the Japanese dub but with English subtitles? I'm assuming it's the 'Asian' version, not the Japanese release?

I hear the physical games will have english sub/dub via patch at a later date. So in won't be on disc or cart which is a huge bummer. Here is the quote from Play-asia

"Please note that English voice and subtitles are available via patch update in November. 30, 2021."

I preordered on Switch eShop. I’m looking forward to ghost spirits getting killed by a camera. I played 2/3 last year on PS3. The graphic upgrade will be nice.

Cheers. I don't know why they just don't ship all dub and sub across all regions, they must know most of their player base wants the jap dub.

I've played the ones on PS2 and Wii and I have to say I prefer the ones on PS2.
The Wii games rely to much on motion control gimmicks (that thankfully, this time will be absent), and after those, the characters look to much like Idols.

While I hate how the SJW these days are trying to ugly up every female character into an unlikable bitch, in Japan the problem is the exact opposite. They'll try to create impossibly gorgeous women as characters dressed in what could only be described as cosplay that would better fit in a porno, and say "Oh, she is just a normal student / salary worker (who's also always a teenager) on a small shop and you have to think of her as a real person". If there is one type of female characters that I have no problem making them realistic, that's the horror game protagonists.

In the original ps2 Trilogy, the characters where a bit more realistic thanks to the lower graphics and the expectations born from those.
