I'm sure you guys know what The Biggest Loser is about. If you don't, here's the official website.

Alright...This is a gaming forum, so there's bound to be a bunch of fatties around--including yours truly. If you want to lose weight, listen up.

GAF's BIGGEST LOSER

The goal is to lose as much weight as possible within 3 months, starting sometime during next week (I will let you know). The person who has lost the highest percentage of his/her body weight at the end of the competition is GAF's Biggest Loser. Not only will all of us have improved our health, the Biggest Loser will also A VIDEOGAME OF HIS OR HER OWN CHOOSING. It's as simple as that. But of course there are rules.

1. You must be overweight according to your Body Mass Index. Calculate your BMI here (imperial) or here (metric).
2. You can eat and drink whatever you like, but keep in mind that all weight loss must be achieved by following a SENSIBLE DIET. YOU are responsible for your own health.
3. You must provide a Current Weight (CW) at the beginning and ending of GAF's Biggest Loser. If you do not want to post your weight, PM it to me--I will keep it between the two of us. I trust that you will be truthful. You shouldn't try to fool us, but more importantly, don't fool yourself.
4. You will post updates regularly. Part of the idea behind GAF's Biggest Loser is the fact that buddy programs have proven to be beneficial for dieter.
5. You must be at least 16 years old.
6. If yours truly wins the competition, no one receives the prize.
7. There must be 5 or more contestants.

That's all I can come up with for now. Please do not keep quoting this opening post because there may be some changes to the rules. If I make any changes, I will let you know.

IF YOU DECIDE TO ENTER the competition, please post in this thread, and don't forget to include (or PM to me) your current weight. I'm in, and will post my CW as soon as I have enough contestants.

Let's see if this takes off.
500 pounds right here im in

I might as well throw my hat in the ring, I'm about to start cutting for 3-4 months.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 202 lbs

Trying to cut to 185, or at most 180. I'm going to drop my calories to 3000/day, and do 10-15 minutes of HIIT 2-3 times a week. I'll abort if I start to get too skinny.

Here
I'm no medical doctor, but I'm fairly certain that the BMI is a severely flawed mechanism for determining whether or not you're overweight in a bad way.

I'm 190 and trying to drop to about 160. I'm not dedicated at all though, so I'll probably end this thing about 5-8 pounds heavier given it's Christmastime. I'll give it a shot though. Current strategy is not eating a ****ing cookie just because it's there and walking places instead of driving.

Absolutely, but unless everyone is going to go get their bodyfat % tested by a doctor, there's not really a better solution.

There's $30 bodyfat scales. That'll kinda work, I think.

Eh, I've heard you can weigh yourself twice in a row and have it read 4-5% different. Besides, I'm not going to spend $30 for a chance to win a $50 prize! :lol

Losing weight is a pretty bad idea and doing it fast even more so. One should try to gain lean mass and lose bodyfat. Change of habits, healthy diet, more physical activity, slow and steady progress is the sane thing to do. In a nutshell, this thread will do more harm than it will help. Just my €0.02

That's true. And that's nice. But nobody is going to listen to it, especially the crowd that isn't really into fitness.

I've been bulking for the past 11 months, and I've put on 30 pounds. Now it's time to cut some pud. If I can get a free game out of the deal, sweet. :)

I'm 5'10 1/2 and 155, unfortunately I don't think it would be too good of an idea for me to participate in this, although the premise of this is great, get GAF in shape while giving them motivation to do so.

Quick question - why is the winner called the 'biggest loser'?

Regardless, I think this is a cool idea, I need to get back in the gym as I haven't for like more than a year now hahaha. It's not a weight issue for me at all though, more just, being fit.

EDIT: I won't enter, but I'd like to participate in being healthy with the rest of you, it's encouraging to share our progress together, be it regarding working out, eating healthy, and just developing good habits overall.

Sure, I'll join.

I'm 5'9, 230 lbs or so. I'd really like to get down to 185 or so, and having it in a public forum will be good incentive to knock off the rest of this weight.

Good luck everyone!

As clichéd as it is, starting a diet at the beginning of the new year might be a better idea, especially if one is not accustomed to good dietary habits. Starting a diet during the Christmas/holiday season is pretty masochistic if you ask me.

Pardon me, but how can you eat more than 3k calories a day? I'm just curious, I mean I try to gain weight, and even with eating plenty of food, I'm still far from 3000.

Pretty easily. Eat 6 times per day, ~500 calories per meal. I eat about 4500+ per day while bulking.

What does your diet look like?

How overweight do you have to be to participate?

I'm probably 5lbs over my ideal, but I'd like to try and lose 10 to 15lbs.
Any limits of what your BMI has to be to participate?

There must be a way to confirm that the winner is being truthful, personally I wouldn't trust someone to not be lying, especially since the prize is a game of your choice.
