As this generation winds down, what have been everyone's favorite games this gen? It may be tough to rank, but I'm going to try and limit to 10 (or 20). This list only includes games I've finished (or currently playing and love), and there are still a lot in the backlog to get to.

I don't know. I played so few games this generation. I guess Mario Kart 8? God of War was really good, too, as was Uncharted 4.

I'm hoping TLOU: Part 2 doesn't end up being a disappointment. That will probably end up being my game of the generation, unless it absolutely shits the bed.

Witcher 3 and MGS5 are the only two I really enjoyed myself playing. Every other single player game I touched was uninspired, tedious garbage. Just walking from point A to B for more cutscene exposition of some horrible, pretentious story. Enemies are tuned to retard difficulty to make games accessible to as many people as possible (I.e. retards). It baffles me that people find that shit fun.

Also both of those games were released on PC and much better played there. So in other words this generation was a colossal failure.

That first place isn't even close to the other 4 on that list. Bloodborne is one of the best games I've played in my life, and definitely in my top 5 of all time. I really want to put MGSV in that list, but the story and lack of a proper ending keep it from being a masterpiece/complete experience for me. I also want to include Hitman 2 and Dishonored 2 for being the best stealth games this gen, but I can't remove either of my top 5. Personal 5 Royal probably deserves a high spot, but I'm still in the middle of playing it (I'm on the third dungeon, and man this game has blown me away).

I thought a few games this gen were a bit overrated, like Horizon Zero Dawn, but those few blemishes don't take away much from how good it's been for this gen.

The Witcher 3: GOTY Edition (PC Version) is not only the best game of this generation, and one of the best games ever made, but it's also one of the most consumer-friendly video game related products released in the last 10 years.

Prey (2017) is basically System Shock 3, and probably my favorite immersive sim - Yes, i think it's better than System Shock 2 or the entire Bioshock franchise. The enemy variety is low, but the amount of choices you are offered to make regarding most situations that are gameplay related more than make up.

Subnautica is criminally underrated to an abhorrent degree; It's an incredible survival - exploration game that is unique and a perfect example of a video game that is quintessential to stimulate yourself with before you die.

It wasn't easy to pick between Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, because they're both so remarkably different, but at the end of the day i'll go with Doom (2016) because it's just so polished in its execution of a power trip.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is the biggest surprise i had this generation, because i surely didn't expect to consider this game the best in the Wolfenstein series and pretty much the third best first person shooter released this generation (2014 - 2020). All around fantastic gameplay and an actual interesting story.
