FFXIII-2 "Requiem of the Goddess" launch trailer

I'm sure FFXIII-3 is already well into development (and probably using even more recycled assets than FFXIII-2, lol).

It will just be scene after scene of characters discussing 'remember that time when?' and it's just places you've been to with slightly varied events.

I kinda wish they didn't spread all the DLC out over several months, though. I have a friend who raves about it, so I guess it must be okay.

I got the platinum a few weeks after release and I didn't really want to pop the disc in for one little thing every few weeks because I'm basically finished with the game. I probably wouldn't have popped it in for a Hard Mode DLC even though that was my chief complaint about the game.

Business-wise, it's a good decision to spread it out over several months. No qualms about them wanting to make money spread over a few months because they're a business. It's what they do.

But from my personal perspective, it reduced the importance of the DLC given that:
a) the game is very short, even if you do everything in it in terms of synthesizing weapons, getting weapon drops, etc.
b) the platinum run + game length is generally 50-60 hours long. You can probably do it in an even shorter time if you're a lucky draw for slots.
c) if you finish everything there is in the game, and finish a platinum run, what, then, is the point of coliseum battles if you've basically finished everything outside of a theoretical monster book completion?

The scenario DLCs seemed like a good idea at the time, until we realized that Sazh's DLC was basically a card game, Snow's DLC is something having to do with his Crazy Chocobo haircut, and Lightning's DLC is essentially a longer Caius battle. When this type of DLC was announced, I was expecting something like The Ballad of Gay Tony or the Battle of Forli DLC/Bonfire of the Vanities DLC.

I agree with you, as someone who bought and completed the game days after its release, the DLC was not interesting. It came out too late for me to get anything out of it. But I'm sure if I picked the game up now, I'd be downloading those boss battles and outfits.

Those colosseum fights are super tough too, the only one I have is Jihl and I haven't been able to beat her with my current monster party and a maxed out Noel and Serah. The scenario DLC has been pretty disappointing so far though.

Spoilers, first of all.

This post confuse me. You're agreeing with him, partially. LiquidSolid said the ending was foreshadowed well, which you seem to agree with with your first paragraph.

Also, it's not a concluding ending if it's TBC. If something is going to be continued, then it can't be concluded by definition.

I agree it is a good ending, it was the whole premise of my first post. I just disagree with the cliffhanger.
The text makes it a cliffhanger, not the end itself. If there was no text or no secret ending, it was a concluding ending.

I was barely replying to the "he just has no clue what he's talking about." which I assumed was to my "FFXIII-2 has the best ending of the past 3 FFs, therefore, not a bad ending at all" idea.

That clears up some things. I didn't follow the quote chain back far enough.

I liked the ending too... but I think that there's no denying it's a cliffhanger, text or not.

You really consider
the bad guy winning and the world ending
to be concluding? That's just not how games work.

I didn't use monsters outside of two battles (
both the regular solo Caius fight, and the paradox solo Caius fight
) and for the Feral Link trophy, so I have to wonder how it'd be for a No Monster Use playthrough. But right now, I don't really feel like I want to jump into the DLC. Maybe when I feel like replaying the game a few years from now, but not now. I know others feel differently.

And yeah, when the game had just come out, the DLC was pretty meh. Costumes and weapons, I think? I guess they didn't think that people would finish it/platinum it so quickly given how long FFXIII's platinum run average length was, eh?

I'm basically waiting for the Lightning DLC to hit, and then I'll buy the all the DLC I want and jump into the game again to check out the new fights and monsters.
Yeah, that's a pretty smart way of playing it too. If people like the game and everything it has to offer, I say go for it. There's definitely an audience for the DLC. I may not be part of that audience, but at least someone's getting something out of it. People who are going through the game now, or people who didn't buy it at launch are probably in the best position to experience the DLC, I think.

I mean, they knew. They were warned, still the did it, and so it happens.
And for the first time, the villain is not lying or leaves a window of opportunity, he was fucking serious about it!

So I considered it well concluded. Sad, bold and honest.
Then comes the To be continued, and 'Caius not being dead and being the one that spread the chaos in the end' bummer, but I already expected it since it was already known they would 'conclude' it with Lightning's DLC.

That video looked badass as fuck. And it's only 400pts BOUGHT

Doesnt look like it relies on my weak ass Noel and Serah, so I can jump right in and enjoy it.

Hope actually wasn't *that* bad in XIII-2... pansy in the original though but I'm starting to agree XV = Versus now. They'll pull the same route they did with renaming Agito XIII > Type-0.

I will never understand the hate for Hope. Smh.

Well, as stated before, it does make perfect sense based on what happenned before.

Basically,
The main characters put their own interests (finding Lightning, saving Fang/Vanille, etc.) before the world's interests and played right into the villain's game. The heroes lost, it's actually a DIFFERENT ending this time around! The same people that are complaining about this keep complaining that JRPGs always have the same stories...

Yes, I will be dusting the cobwebs off my copy to play this and Snow's episode.
And I would like XIII-3 for closure. Stop raining on my parade.

Hope was always a badass. Now he just looks the part too.

Which part made him bad-ass before? The whining like a little girl?
The part where he (chapter 7 spoilers)
explodes, sends Snow flying off a cliff, and then tries to stab Snow in the face. He would've finished the job too if he hadn't been so rudely interrupted.

...let's ignore the fact that they undid his character development just for Chapter 11 to give him a magical Transformer because they forgot to do that in Chapter 7.

It does make sense. But no non-indie series is going end with that kind of conclusion.

Hope was always a badass. Now he just looks the part too.

What exactly made him a badass? The way he cried like a girl every time he took a hit, the limp-fists he made to gesture during his incredibly cliche "as long as I believe in myself!" speech at the end of Chapter Ten, or how he threw the world's biggest hissy fit when Lightning told him that killing Snow was a bad thing to do?

If it wasn't for Snow, Hope would have been the worst character in the game. Both of them are only saved from being the worst characters in the series by the existence of Genesis Rhapsodis.

If you don't think Hope's badass then you and I have a different definition or a limited/expansive definition of the word.

I feel like I should recognize this person's name, but I can't remember who it is.

Loveless. Gackt. Zack. Angeal. Ring any bells?

.....The gift of the goddess.

I will never forget this character, like ever.

That's cuz Genesis has an awesome last name. Awesome first name. Awesome coat. Awesome voice. Awesome hair. Awesome sword. Awesome friends. Oh did I mention he's awesome?

Can't say I agree with him being awesome. Now his design and weapon? Amazing, certainly better then Angeal or Sephiroth to me.

Hype for DLC...like over 9000! Sucks I know it won't conclude the ending but...hey FFXIII-3! Bring it Square. I love the world of FFXIII.

Also, why people be hating on Genesis? He is the second most swag villain ever, first being Sephiroth and third being Caius. He is the reason I know Loveless word by word. He is also one of the reasons I'm a casual fan of Gackt's soundtracks too.

How did Mass Effect 3 get such bad rep for a bad ending when we have FF13-2??

Because at least with FFXIII-2, they have the chance to rectify that in FFXIII-3. With Mass Effect 3, that's it. The bad ending is the final ending. Nothing else to see, you've been suckerpunched and you have no way of retaliating against it. FFXIII-2 ending is just a cliffhanger that is waiting to be resolved.

Honestly, I want it to end there. Knowing Toriyama and S-E, they'll probably screw it up so hard it won't even be funny.

Is this our first disagreement? or second. I forget...
What have we disagreed upon before? Xillia? :P

I just remember feeling bored during his cutscenes. But that might've been the point when I started feeling like cutscenes started getting boring for me in general since I just wanted to play the game.

There is no hate, only joy. For you are beloved by the goddess. Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds!
I remember when I thought Loveless was basically the FFVII version of the FFVI Opera scene. I don't remember a single thing Genesis said at all, until someone told me he was reciting Loveless. :lol

"It's FFVII's version of Shakespeare?!"

I like overly flamboyant characters like Genesis. Though he doesn't compare to Lelouch. Rofl.
