But bug combos are exactly that, you just hold a button down then let go when the bug needs to come out. They actually have a really simple flow to them.

I started initiating talks regarding Smash on SRK a decade ago, now. You have any idea what conversations about that game with that segment of the FGC looked like back then? You think the recent positivity surrounding the game among these people is the norm? Or that any shit talk regarding the series and its players dates back to only a year or two ago? Or even 5 years ago? Hell, I was banned from GAF 4-5 years ago for remonstrations in a proto-Enzo FGC-thread. When I posted on the first page "Where's Smash in the OP?" I was thoroughly dismissed, ridiculed and banned for backing up my points in the thread defending Smash as a fighter and worthy of being discussing in the thread.

You were banned for being aggressive and asshole with no discussion at all in regards to the OP back then. Doesn't change the fact that there always was a lot of negativity about Smash but you weren't exactly sunshine and rainbows in that post.

On that general tangent. I find any comment lobbed at MOBA communities from someone that is a part of the greater FGC to be silly. At least the core community has become smart enough not to be dumb like that but I can't say the same for the fringe folks.

I find the dichotomy in public perception between the FGC and MOBAs plenty curious. Pretty much everybody is like "yeah you would not believe what this kid typed at me in LoL last night" but it's fighting games that end up getting odious articles published about them at the end of the day.

Maybe it's the human element that makes a difference. You can have pubbies calling you double rainbow reverse nigger jihad faggots (pardon the parlance) in DOTA all day long behind an anonymous chat box, but when it's the guy sitting next to you popping off after a beat down it just feels worse.

Xbox Live was absolutely notorious for people running around shouting out the worst combinations of racial epithets, but there's no moral panic because too many people own an Xbox. Obviously Xbox owners aren't the problem because they aren't part of it, only somebody else. Wide brushes are always the widest when you aren't the one getting painted.

I've never been to an SRK or Eventhubs forum (I actually used to dabble in TYM and the FG thread Destructoid's forums had.) but they all sound like the worst people, and judging by how many of you'll are from the SRK forums (supposedly) I may be on to something.

I don't really know why or how it changed but back then Smash evangelists always loved to play the persecution card back then, which would then just completely derail discussion for pages on end. I think the turnaround started happening after the EVO donation drive, but I might be misremembering.

Yes, as I recall. I wasn't actively modding FG threads at the time because I was in Japan but I do remember them. The definition of what an FG is was a part of the reason but also because the Smash folks on here at the time were very vocal and not in the nice way, if my memory is correct. I'd suspect that a huge element to it, particularly because Reno at the time put in a section for Gundam at TreIII's request into the OP. So it wasn't like he was against competitive games in general.

Demons mean something different to me. They are strong, they are beautiful, and they are unashamed of their deeds and desires. Arakune is a pile of slop who can barely keep his body from falling apart. "Good guy" demons like Ragna and Dante are also horse shit. They're like all those annoying nerds who thought Drow were awesome, but couldnt handle being evil, so they made another Drizzt clone.

Motive, personality and appearance are factors I see.

I personally just think Arakune looks interesting, blobby and drippy as he is, even though I loathe fighting against him (because of his curse tactics choking up the mid range).

Yes, thank you. Context: There were discussions in another thread, largely between Crimson Blur and I, to create a FG community thread. That's where the idea for a GAF-FGC community thread originated. With me. I came up with the very idea not only to have someone else take the idea and run with it, but to have the OP artificially exclude the fighting game I was most passionate about. How could I not feel insulted? You were essentially excluding me. What was I going to do? Make my own FGC thread?

I was actually just checking out the rest of the music video, even though I'm not a huge fan of the genre of music the cartoon/animation was very well done and I so, so loved how it looked.
