Final Fantasy 7 Remake Producer Promises Later Episodes Will Come Faster.

I-dont-believe-you.gif

Midgar is only like 10% of the original game. So I assume the full remake will be split into 5 parts, with each part after part 1 may taking 2 to 3 years to develop. That means the remake could be complete in 9 to 13 years from now on.

Thanks Kitase-San.

I just want all of the games to end with "Please insert disc 2/3/please not a 4th".

On another note, CAN'T WAIT TO EXPLORE THE WORLD IN PART 2!!

Happy with the Remake, but come on, should've just cut the game in 2 pieces.

Then again, thinking about it, I've wasted a lot of time looking for the lost key to open up the gate to Midgar.
Did that key even exist?

Yeah, you find it in the archeology camp just before the forgotten forest/city of ancients.

Ok. So first part is going to focus on Midgar only? Sounds ok.

Next part would come faster if if we were not looking at a generation change incoming in 2020. I suppose they will have to make their tool again to incorporate change and then it will take another decade.

So is each part going to be it's own $60 stand alone release then? Like a final fantasy VII-2? Weird decision considering we're about to get new consoles, you'd think they'd push it back a little to coincide with the new console releases

The Final Fantasy VII Remake project will be realized in Unreal Engine 4.
This implies that future Final Fantasy VII Remake games will also be made in Unreal Engine 4.
(or at least with the next Unreal Engine, and not with a new engine)

So there is no reason to worry about this.

Moreover, the game will be totally faithful to the original.

I wished I had the optimism some of you guys have about SE. But SE always disappoint when it comes to release dates and investing on different forms of milking the same game(yeah I`m talking about the episodic thing)..

Game being episodic is stupid, let alone releasing an episode every year..
There was no other way.

I think most people don't remember how gigantic FF7 really was. It was only possible because of the method used for the original.

And if we want anything worthwhile to come out of this game they'll have to recreate everything and even more. Some unfinished ideas from the originals or additional story details.

This is a lot of work and most people wouldn't shell out 150 bucks for a game so they have to divide it in 3 to be financially viable.

And yes, some games can be too expensive to make, especially on the standard 40, 50, 60 dollar limit.

Anyone else just now realizing Red XIII will be in this for all of like 10 minutes? I wonder if they will even bother making him playable or just give him a support role somehow.

Calm down, Papa Sony will come to help again.
Just think: they don't even sure the profitability of the game and yet still confident enough for making exclusive deal.

Don't worry, Sony will make sure this game will be finished on timely manner.
I'm sure of it 2020-2022, one game/year, each more bigger than before, Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog etc will help them too.

:messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy: by 2022 we won't even have part 2
why didn't sony make sure to have them release midgar in a timely manner

Guys, look at the bright side of things. Every Cloud (Strife) has a silver lining.
1st part is going to be 2 BD discs. That's larger that FF15 itself. It's gonna be massive. The Midgar story might surpass every expectations of yours in terms of events, story, scope, proportions, experiences, et al.

I have already convinced myself that 2nd part is going to come out in 2024-25 for PS5.
I mean naw, we'll hafta sit on episode 1 for a while and make do with that.

From early on there were indications/hints that things were fishy.
By seeing the PSX 2015 trailer, people would have easily thought that the game development was going well.
However in the ensuing years after PSX 2015, Square-Enix would announce here in there, that they're recruiting staff for FF7Remake. And , in fact, it was a matter of urgency to them.

Yes, it exists.

One and a half to two years in between releases is what it sounds like (that's an SE translation isn't it?) . This could span an entire generation depending upon the number of episodes. Assuming they have a firm plan in place for backward compatibility and future hardware/architecture, there shouldn't be many hiccups in development.

Or maybe they are well prepared and have stepping stones for their development model.

A game with the epic size and scope of Final Fantasy has never been done with modern AAA production values before. There's no way in hell to make a game like FF7 with the level of detail and interactivity that we saw in the FF7-R demo and release it as a single $60 product.

Hell, part 1 alone is 2 Blu Rays, maybe the largest game ever released.

I'm seriously just glad this is happening at all. This kind of epic word-spanning JRPG is all but extinct now, and those that remain are much lower budget.

Not really interested in buying a game from 1997 for probably about $180-$240 over the course of what 6 years?

And if each CE runs for $330, then people that want those will be paying $990-$1320.

No thanks.

People waited enough already. They can handle couple of months between releases

Dude, seriously... unrealistically optimistic.

Yes, exactly. Considering how long we've already waited, we would be fortunate to get an episode every year.

Don't say that, they don't need encouragement to take years..... :messenger_open_mouth:

You were spot on. Mista is just hanging on to the hope that I've already lost for this project. I love Final Fantasy VII as much as anyone, but my interest in this project is fairly low. Maybe in 2030 I'll buy the complete collector's edition with the full cast of figurines. :messenger_winking:

Go play Call of Duty then. Buy every version every year. Not interested? OUT.

The question is. Will we still live in 2030?

Might be but also can't see why not. From the last shown footage the game seems ready to go and don't really know if actually the episodes are being developed or they're actually done

That'll be when the Final Fantasy VII Remake Remastered Complete Collector's Edition for PS5 Pro might release, with all the figurines.... For a bargain $100000 :messenger_sunglasses:

Hopefully, you're right.... Just sounds like not much beyond the 1st part is actually done :messenger_smirking: Now, future parts should be much quicker, relatively but there's still work to do. :messenger_savoring:

yes there is an other way. But not the way Square Enix makes games and wastes millions of dollars with nothing substantial to show for it.

Thats what happens when you focus on graphics and presentation instead of gameplay.

They could have dialed back the graphics, that would easily cut dev time in half. They also could have sticked with the original ATB system, instead of being able to run around on the battlefield and hack/slash your way to victory. That would save time for sure.

But nahh, they want all the cash. they would rather milk users with the vague promise of ever finishing this game.

That's my understanding as well. They have Midgar, and that's basically it. And isn't that coming on 2 blu-ray discs?? It's got to be the 4K assets.
Who wants to bet that they hoped to do the rest of the world to the same level of detail as Midgar?

What if their date of 03-Mar 20 does align with a PS5 release? Wouldn't that be wild? Or, what if Final Fantasy VII: Kalm Before the Storm (or whatever they call it) is a launch window title for PS5?

Who's to say they aren't releasing with a new console release window?
