Final Fantasy 7 Remake Review Thread!

There are NO games without faults. NONE. Even legendary games like Super Mario Bros. have their little issues. No game is a 10/10.

10/10 is a marketing gimmik to put on the box. That's all.
Yeah but if the faults are minor and doesn't ruin the experience then I find no problem in that.

Roughly where I expected it to be. It is very hard for a remake + episodic game to get an extremely high score.

Gonna play it all weekend

it should not be an episodic game.
SE added too much filler to the game that end breaking the pace.

Great reviews... 88 on metacritic.

I mean between Persona 5 Royal, Dreams, Doom Eternal, Nioh 2, MLB The Show, Resident Evil 3 and this.... it's a good fucking time on PS4.

Let's take a moment for our fallen brothers who couldnt make the party; Last of Us and Cyberpunk 😭😭

Final Fantasy games just are not Final Fantasy games to me without the turn based combat systems.... this games looks like it did away with that to cater to the attention deficit disorder generation.

This is the 'tism striking. I know, because it's struck me before in the same manner.

A 10/10 experience is not mathematical perfection with no flaws. It's just something so wonderful, you feel that it's at the uppermost bounds of what's even possible. Communicating that in a review is far more important than taking some weird stand on rating perfection.

Indeed, if that perfection will never exist, why even factor it into a review system? Who is even expecting a review system to function around this metric?

In a ten number system, it makes sense to use the final number to simply represent something truly amazing, that should be turning heads everywhere in the hobby. That's all.

I just played the demo with that exact mindset. It blew me away. Seriously.

It recreates the depth, and then some, of the classic RPGs in real-time. It even has a few ideas from Nintendo's Xenoblade, re: staggers and such. The boss that I played was genuinely one of the most satisfying enemy encounters I've had in a videogame in a long time.

Looking good to me. Did I really just read in this thread it has bad voice acting? I must have played the wrong demo because I think its fantastic. Also did I read techincal issues like ugly textures? Again I must've played the wrong demo because at least on PRO it looks great. I didn't see any muddy texture at all.

No they're there. You'll see muddy textures galore. GET HYPE!

Thanks to the spoiler thread, it's kind of been fun checking some of these to see which reviewers actually finish games before reviewing or which ones even played the original, thanks to some key phrases.

Funny how some people were giving reviews with only finishing half the content.

if it is like the demo it's only on easy mode and i heard that normal mode is already a cake walk if not for some bosses.

Was hoping Hard Mode was available right out of the gate, but on the other hand, it gives a good incentive to play it for the second time.

Coming from Switch, I didn't notice any blurry textures.

except i hate this modern practise of locking harder difficulty under some bullshit requisite.
let me play the first and most significant run (and probably only one) at the max difficulty, especially if the game on normal is piss easy like i heard...

worst modern gaming practise ever.

did you know the percentage of people who make second run on 40+ hours game? is probably less than 5% total if you consider than 50% of people don't even complete the game the first time...

Its ridiculous that developers do this... it essentially says to me that 'you must endure 20+ hours of mind numbing sleep inducing easy gameplay, until you get to play a game that offers any sort of challenge to overcome'... Its an instant: no thanks, don't waste my fucking time from me.

They did the same thing to Resident Evil. I feel your pain.

It still applies under a remake. No?
from a remake you expect same story and maybe some additions to explain characters\location better etc. not a fucking reimagining of fanfic tier level...

that is not how you make one if not the most hyped remake of all time.

Keep the spoiler related complains in the spoiler thread guys, and when the official topic comes out on release day.

I'm conflicted.

Really want to play this, the perfect time to do so while this coronavirus stuff is going on.

However ideally I'd like to wait for the inevitable PC version since I'm not convinced about Sony's stance on backwards compatibility next gen.

Will mull over it a bit but if impressions are as strong as the reviews then my resolve will be tested, the demo was splendid.
