Square-Enix just announced another Square-Enix Presents livestream for Final Fantasy Explorers. It'll be broadcast next Friday (Sept. 26) at 9PM JST.

There’s a certain feature that lets you befriend monsters you defeat and have them join your party. It’ll be possible to have a party that consists of two players and two monsters.

No, the classic Final Fantasy characters are actually transformations for your character. They don't "appear" in the game per se.
