Do the original sprites look like that when smoothed over?

Doesn't look like it.
The rumored 30th anniversary collection is the last hope for a modern port of VI that's not the android version with those god awful sprites.
And I'll admit I'll probably get it but I'd really like to have the whole series on Steam in good versions.
