The introduction scene for the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo has leaked online.

A link to the file server hosting the demo (among files for various other games), the PlayStation Store listing of which leaked last week, was posted by Twitter user @raziel2001. YouTube user Lystrasza was able to install and run the demo, likely on a jailbroken PlayStation 4 (as another Twitter user managed to install it, but was unable to get the demo running). The full game was reportedly also listed in the same file server, but has already been removed.

This is probably my only "day one" game of 2020. I've had it pre-ordered at Amazon since 2015.

Amazing.

That wide shot of the city is an FMV right? It can't be real time!

I'm normally quite sceptical when it comes to remaking classics, but with this, I'm uncharacteristically confident that Square Enix is going to pull it off.

Just listening to the interviews, and seeing some of the decisions they've made, it really feels like it's a labour of love for them. I wonder how many members of the dev team grew up playing this game alongside us lot, how many of them cried, or laughed, and if they also get transported right back to 1997 whenever that music kicks in.

Seeing this intro I think it's fair to say a lot of them feel the same way we do.

Can't fucking wait to play it.

This reminds me of when Final Fantasy XIII had its demo included with the Japanese Blu-ray of Advent Children. I spent $70 just for that demo.

This is gonna be one of those games that's uberhyped and will then quickly stop being talked about upon launch.

Its beautiful... But I already hate some of the changes they made. They ruined the pacing of the intro with that stupid chant in the alley, and the cut to the train happens to abruptly on the fly in past Shinra tower, It lost its energy and impact.

My prediction is that they are going to add a lot of personality to cutscenes that could not be adequately expressed with PS1-era graphics, and these will be hit or miss.

I loved the extended time with Aerith as she gets her flower stepped on. It suggests she's a rare hopeful soul in a city of despair.

But I also fear the cutscenes will be padded with nonsense to make part 1 feel longer and more like a full $60 game.

It'll be hit and miss because we all have different daydreams over what these scenes might look like with modern graphics.

Looks amazing. I like this version of Barrett (with all the subtle revisions they have made).

I will buy on the PS4 and rebuy on PS5.... ohhh nooo.......

It looks pretty good but nostalgia is too strong in me, I prefer the original.

The quick cuts to the train were part of the original intro. If anything they've given it more personality with the longer bit with Aerith.

Beautiful, gives me the feels and bring a tear of happiness to my eye! I love the subtle changes they made, gives everything more life and soul, like when Aeris tries to pick up the flower and the guy steps on it, I can really feel her sorrow, I feel so sad for her! :messenger_crying:
