Fire Emblem Warriors DLC packs announced

The Bride class is a thing in Awakening.

A thing that was officially localized and released.

And it showed up again in Heroes.

Why would they need to sneak anything?

A crossover game focusing on the most popular entries? Why I never. Seriously you guys are probably getting more attention then certain other franchises in crossovers.

Imagine how Persona 2 fans feel. Heh.

You know just when I start to sympathize with pre 3DS fans. Someone posts something like this and I'm suddenly glad your being ignored. Look I get your upset but stop insulting people because we like characters you don't. Wether you like it or not these games are popular.
Honestly, you aren't wrong. Doesn't mean it isn't disappointing considering that characters from Shadow Dragon and Fates are by far the worst characters in the series, Shadow Dragon because the characters are nothing more than generic units with names and faces attached to them, and Fates because the writing is at an overall low point for the series with that entry. Like, I understand having a few Shadow Dragon characters because it's a remake of the original game in the series, but a whole DLC pack focused on the most boring and non-essential characters? Who are they even going to put in that? Barst? Ogma? Jake? (Actually Jake would be cool.

But yes, Awakening and Fates are the most popular entries and the most visible so it's not odd to see them get even more characters. It is odd that Ike, Roy, and Alm don't appear to be getting in though, as they are all way more popular than anyone in Shadow Dragon, a game which nearly killed the series in the west. It would make more sense to add them or do an Echoes pack over doing Shadow Dragon.

"Clearly fire emblem isn't a franchise worthy of having musou titles" is the only lesson they'll learn

I'd hope market analytics or whatever they're called would do more than just look at the numbers.

...Though, I suppose that's how we got this roster in the first place. >.>

Not thrilled with this direction in dlc at all.

If it's of any consolation, Hyrule Warriors took a similar direction. Barring Young Link and Tingle, it took a little under two years (i.e. took until Legends) for them to start actually branching out. This time, we got two people outside the main games early! :V

But that assumes there'll be a second season of DLC. I'm still kinda puzzled by tossing in Lyn and Celica, then going back to Fates/Awakening/Shadow Dragon. Maybe they want to complete the list of characters they want from those games before moving on but wanted a bone out early, idk.

since chara costumes are in the game, they better do fe1 marth costume

Masked Pantsless Marth too, plz.

Except Blazing Blade is more popular than Shadow Dragon. And even if the tellius game aren't popular, Ike is more popular than any Fates character, the same goes for Roy.

Binding blade is more popular than shadow dragon, but mystery of the emblem is still the most popular game in Japan, and pretty much established every trope fire emblem has.

I meant Blazing, but yeah Mystery is popular. But again amost every FE game sold well in japan (except RD why?), Blazing Blade is the SD of the west and it deserves as much focus imo. In heroes it was recognized, it even had a bonus banner before both Fates and Awakening.

Yeah those two are weird. Maybe they're late additions and won't feature prominently in the story? Just two slots could be easily taken by anyone from SD/Awakening/Fates. Celica is even weirder because she's the only one from her game AND being only half the prominent face of Valentia.

Oh thank god, I was worried the game wouldn’t have Fates and Awakening representation.

Lyn was probably due to the Heroes poll and Celicia is promotion for Echoes. As for why there's no Alm I guess waifus take priority.

On one hand it's very disappointing that they're sticking with the same main games here, and absolutely baffling they're shafting Ike despite him being the single most popular character in the series. Not to say he can't still show up anyhow after Lyn and Celica randomly showed up, but if they're planning an FE Warriors 2 already then I suppose it'll be Ike front and center. If that were a Radiant/Elibe centered game then that'd be pretty exciting for me. I guess that's just what happens with a situation like Ike... most popular character in the franchise comes from a pair of games that didn't sell very well, he's in an odd position. Popular with longtime FE fans because of his games and then popular with everyone else because of Smash.

On the other hand, maybe now we can actually get the interesting stuff from Fates they neglected to include in the base game. Ninjas will be fun to see, regardless of which one they put in. Azura should be fun too. And if we have to have more Shadow Dragon stuff, sure would be nice to get the Whitewings considering they're really the only interesting characters in Marth's games (and entirely due to Echoes giving them lots of dialogue to work with). Minerva or Michalis would be cool to see I guess, but beyond that Shadow Dragon is barren. I feel like the Awakening pack will include adult Tiki who actually goes full dragon form instead of being a joke character like young Tiki. Awakening especially feels like a missed opportunity with its roster in Warriors, the likes of Frederick and Lissa being in is just so bland, so I guess at least we'll get some actually interesting picks now. I assumed a while ago that the DLC would have Ike, Roy, and Tharja front and center... well, she's not announced yet but Tharja seems like the safest possible bet. Maybe Awakening pack is where Alm shows up, something like Walhart as the villain of that story expansion and Alm ties in because he's Walhart's ancestor.

Oh, I just realized. I feel like I've said this in at least three FEW threads, but: still no Mystery of the Emblem?

I mean, there could be a Mystery character in the Shadow Dragon pack, since they're kinda close enough (being a direct sequel and all), but still...

Even the DLC is the from the three main games?

Yeah. This game can fuck right off. I'll buy the sequel if the newer fans buy enough of this to justify them making a game that can please everyone.

Hard to believe that one of my dream titles was actually made real and I'm not even going to buy it.

Awakening and Fates still have to have new units that aren't event locked.
About RD maybe I am remebering wrong.

Even if Awakening/Fates have yet to receive new units non-event locked units, they STILL have more units in the game than FE7 after that game received a bonus banner and a couple of GHB units.

Unless my hero list in the game is somehow incomplete, counting only individual characters (no brave units, event locked, etc), FE7 has 17 characters, Awakening has 19 and Fates has 30 characters.

There isn't really that many first-gen characters from Fates yet to be added, I can think of maybe 10, across all 3 paths, and I doubt any of them is popular enough. Silas, Kaze and Charlotte are the only ones I could see being added, and Charlotte was added as a bride in that event. Same could be said about Awakening, tho I'd like to see Flavia and Basilio get in the game, and I guess we'll eventually see Aversa as a GHB unit.

FE7, on the other hand, had glaring holes in the starting roster, as some characters were better known by their interactions with other characters and, in FEH, there were "incomplete pairs". Raven without Priscilla/Lucius, Nino without Jaffar, etc. Even now I feel some characters are still missing but not nearly as bad as it was in the start.

What a perfect way to end with the lackluster roster. I'll just wait for the Xtreme Legends/Sequel version.

Mystery of the Emblem characters aren't popular though.
The only character that people even care for is Marth, and despite being in Super Smash Bros., he barely ekes by Chrom in terms of popularity when combining both his incarnations.
No other Archanean character was in either top 20, with Caeda being 7 places away, being beaten by a 2nd Nephenee.
People don't even like this version of Tiki.

I guess we'll get Tharja & Azura in due time. A shame that we won't get any reps from other games in these packs (unless they decide to throw in reps from other games randomly into these packs). That said, if Hyrule Warriors is any indication, we'll probably get another Season Pass in a year or two.

By Mystery of the Emblem's popularity people are referencing its sales. It's still the best selling FE game in Japan, and not even Awakening and Fates surpassed it there. But, yeah, it never seems to do particularly well in polls. And, of course, worldwide the situation is even worse since the West never got Mystery of the Emblem and Shadow Dragon was a very misguided remake of FE1.

IS really needs either a direct sequel to FE3 featuring mostly the same cast alongside some newcomers or yet another remake in order to make the situation more uniform worldwide.

>Game isn't out.
>DLC is announced.
>Well.

Does it matter much when the game itself is coming out in a few days and in spite of the roster concerns, seems to be jam-packed with content? I totally get the DLC complaints when it comes to it being announced alongside the game, as we've seen in the past, but I don't think that there's really much to get upset about here.

I'm very surprised the DLC is going to focus on the games already covered, but I guess Hyrule Warriors kind of did this, too, only adding Majora's Mask in its initial round of DLC and saving the real franchise expansion for Legends.

Thanks for saving me 80+ bucks IS, it's not like I had expectations for this game or anything. When you even make the DLC 3ds exclusive guest starring Marth from the Super Smash Bros series after seeing people complain about the starting roster being just that, it shows you do not actually know what a good chunk of fans wanted.

In terms of representation, it's at least starting out better than Hyrule Warriors.

Did Hyrule Warriors Legends include all the previous DLC? I forget.

I really want to like this game, but with these weird exclusions, half the roster sharing a moveset with another character, and the DLC just doubling down on the existing 3 games, it's making it kinda hard to be excited for this at all. Looking forward to a potential sequel more than this game right now.

Not thrilled with this direction in dlc at all.

Same

If I had to describe the roster in word, it would be defiance

-Frederick and Lissa's addition to the roster
-The fact they considered not putting Lucina in the game
-Every Fates royal being added in
-Ike not being in
-No armor knights (despite supposedly claiming they'd add them)

At some you can't write off these decisions with "well they decided to focus on 3 games." It's messy.

Yes, Hyrule Warriors included all the DLC from the base game.

The other Warriors games generally don't do that though, but they also don't have character DLC, it's generally just costumes, stages and sometimes weapons (with unique movesets). They also aren't spread in season passes like this, so I guess this will follow mostly HW's model.

Conflicted because Bride Lucina is nice but fuck them for not including other games.

As someone who is mainly a Awakening/Fates fan I'm glad for this. Gives me a chance to see more characters I like.

If your a classic fan who feels burned I'm sorry and hope that maybe the sequel treats you better.

It seems like they're just using the DLC to double down on the people who already bought the game instead of trying to bring in people on the fence.

Well, yeah. "Does it have good DLC?" should not be something that affects your purchase of the base game.

Considering Ike won the popularity poll handily (higher than Lyn if we include both version of him), i honestly would not have bet he would be excluded from the base game AND the dlc. Even if they are doing a second one in a few years.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be buying this. They have so many games and characters to pull from yet they mostly use three games. What a letdown. I understand why, it just feels like such lost potential.

It shouldn't be, but that's how the game was starting to shape up.

If you didn't like most of the main roster I honestly don't see why two or three characters you do would change that.

Thinking about it saving other games for a sequel/enhanced version makes since. They can add more story and characters that way and this first batch of DLC can add characters fans of the first three may have wanted but couldn't make launch.

I don't think shortchanging characters like Ike just to save them for a sequel is a good idea at all, especially in a roster already filled with self-indulgent character.

Just a bad idea from a business perspective.

I'm speaking only for myself here but while I probably wasn't going to get the game regardless, having them immediately double down on those three games when that's been the main concern people have been voicing since E3 doesn't look great. Fitting in a couple more characters from the other games would have at least been a better sign that they're taking fan feedback into account. If a second game comes along and proudly advertises "we've got characters from the other games" as its big selling point, my reaction would be more "cool, but I wasn't really into the first game, why weren't they there the first time around?"

Having them as DLC the first time around comes off as milking, sure, but the milking seems even worse if they're continuing to bleed the same three games already represented dry before moving on.

Much like my feelings on Hyrule Warriors first DLC additions, I'm not vibing this at all (granted, we don't know who they are but for me the best case scenario is like....Virion or Arthur).

Hopefully they're pulling a HW Legends then and saving the actually interesting new characters for a wave 2.
While I'm comfortable saying that this roster is not what I'd hoped from a FE musou (BLACK KNIGHT, WHERE ARE YOU?!), I'm not that down on it even as someone who ain't big on the 3DS heavy character angle.
It's got enough for me to work with, assuming the musou core is solid.

Don't forget that they wouldn't put too many sword users in and then they did it anyway lol.

Can characters wield different weapons? Like Link and a fire rod. Lyn with a naginata would have been cool.

If I had to create three DLC packs with two characters each (like Hyrule Warriors), I'd have gone with...

1. 3DS Pack - Tharja and Azura, the obvious omissions from the base roster. There really don't need to be any more Awakening and Fates characters after these two.

2. Elibe Pack - Roy and Hector

3. Tellius Pack - Ike and Black Knight

They said in an interview that each character can only use one weapon type, with their example being the OC twins will always fight with swords, even after they promote, etc

No they can't. Even when you "change classes" the movesets for the characters don't change. A sword character is always going to wield a sword, an archer is always going to have a bow.

At least, so far. DLC might change that.

They're not putting Magvel in over Jugdral lol.
There are more Magvel characters in Heroes than Jugdral.
Not really.

At least with HW, different races had representation.

In this game, almost everyone is from the same damn FAMILIES
There are representatives from 5 games in the base release.
The only families are the Fates royals, and the exalts, I guess.
