Graphics and redesigned UI look very promising. Lock if old as always.

Yikes, I didn't think they'd have to cut it down that hard to get it on PS3.

Amusingly, it seems to be suffering from all of the same faults as the PS2 version of FFXI, right down to the trees that have so much transparency aliasing that they barely look like trees.

other than stuff on gaf, this game has had zero marketing in the west... even kmmos like Tera have been decently promoted.

Square will probably do what they did with FFXI; release now for current systems then port to next gen.

the graphics are very bad, textures are basically 'gone'. There isn't much you can do with tiny ram. It's either low resolution or it has some awful awful edge blur filter.

Graphics definitely took a hit... that aside, I'm definitely feeling the Cross Hot Bar. Hope it's as functional as it is pretty.

I may be the only person who cares, but I wonder if it supports stereoscopic 3D? It was said to support it when the original FFXIV was first announced ...but a lot has changed since then.

Seriously, this late in, just put it on PS4.

Well, I just figured the point of the engine rebuild was ultimately to get it up and solid on PS3, apparently the goal was to get it on PS3 at pretty much any cost.

I hope those are just bad caps for those buying it on a console. I'm not much of a visual whore these days, but that IQ is enough to make a man weep

I've been wondering this. I suppose it's a bit early for the marketing blitz until they have a settled date, though, they just halted reg on the current version even.

I didnt even know that until I tried to reg my CE I got from NewEgg for the hell of it, and got blocked. Emailing the company for more details, I simply got told theyre in transition and I can register my codes when they're ready to launch 2.0.

It will be once its closer to revival. Also PC + 360 controller + XMB UI is going to be great.

EDIT: Amano X Yoshida art style in full effect.

It looks fine for a PS3 MMO, they don't look like bullshots or anything. It's more a testament to how gorgeous the PC version is.

If the framerate is solid then it looks amazing. In a game like this a constant 30fps even in huge battles is way more important than anything else. FFXI PS2 did not live up to that, despite looking really damn good for being the first console MMO.

I thought it was Yojimbo but you might be right. ;o

Also, the NA images look a little better. The ones in the OP have been stretched a bit and look fuzzy:

It's clearly Hein, from FF3.
