Football Thread 2016/17 & Offseason |OT2| Wenger In Fam! Wenger Out Blud!

I think anyone signing Auba for big money is taking a huge gamble. He's always struck me as a system player, he is perfect for the way BVB play, but take a look at his goal compilations. He scores a lot of similar goals from similar positions and if you can't get him set in that poacher role then he'd struggle. Also given his age offering him a big money contract is going to see whoever paying him lots of cash as he starts to diminish as a player.

FFP is dead btw, UEFA sort of gave up on the idea when it challenged in the courts IIRC.
It died when it hit the Milan clubs and that Liverpool would have been fucked if they got two consecutive years in the CL. The clubs with money figured out how to work around FFP and it just made them more financially robust but the drawbridge is now firmly shut if anyone tries to do a PSG, City or Chelsea again.

This is actually what has me worried about Lacazette. If you look at a player like Sanchez, he could play in any team and make them better through sheer force of will. Even a guy like Ozil, as great as he is, is only good in a team that sets up around his skill set.

No more neymar to Chelsea rumours, half a decade ago for years that was the only rumour doing the rounds about Chelsea, well that and aguero, and look how both of those turned out

  • Jairo Riedewald to Palace today - fine, but I want Sakho.
  • Callum Chambers rumoured to be wanted by Palace - eh.....want Sakho.
  • Jack Wilshere wanted on loan by Palace - after the Remy debacle last year, no thanks.
  • Bentek wanted by Chelsea as backup striker - sure, after we signed three other strikers. You want to wait for that Conte?

I thought we wanted Llorente as a backup striker...

I don't even know anymore :(

I feel like Batshuayi could really shine for Chelsea if they gave him the chance.
I'm with you on this. But will they actually give him a shot? I hoped that the whole shipping of/disregarding the youngsters would've ended with the second Mou departure, but it seems to be ingrained in Chelsea leadership regardless.

Seems like it's the club's strategy, which is a shame.

Klopp was right in his interview, though, that numerous players have struggled at Chelsea (when talking about Salah).

In addition to shipping players out on loan, we also NEVER rotate. Mou didn't and Conte doesn't either, players just don't get the game time they need.

Holy crap!

Marca (spanish newspaper) and Esporte Interactivo (brazilian newspaper) are saying PSG will buy Neymar! :O

In fact they're saying Neymar already gave his approval on the deal. If this goes through, it'll cost PSG 222€M!!

2-2-2€M!!! INSANE!! If it happens this will likely be the most expensive deal in football (maybe even many other sports in general) EVER.

A chilean newspaper is reporting Wenger stated he already decided to keep Sánchez, dismissing any offer for him. In another chilean newspaper there was a news regarding Guardiola asking Sánchez to get more involved in the negotiations. Pep asked Alexis to talk directly to Wenger about him not wanting to be in Arsenal anymore.

This is becoming a little soap opera here in Chile. Pretty much everyday we have news like these.

I will be very disappointed if Alexis continue playing for Arsenal :-/
