FootballGAF 2019/2020 |OT| Does Your Team Got What It Takes To Be Crowned?

The Kane situation feels a little different because of what happened with Pochettino. With Daniel Levy as the football czar at Tottenham, Spurs have never seemingly gone for broke and have sold off their world-class players in their prime (Modric and Bale being two examples)--I believe that to be why Poch got fed up with Spurs and got outta there. Kane's seen that firsthand, so he might feel that his real future may lie outside of Tottenham, whether he wants it to or not.

Kane's a world-class striker who needs a good backup so he can get a break once in a while--Spurs have basically rode him until he can't go forward any longer too many times.

So basically for trophies? I don't think the fans will like that at all but some of them will understand if he transfer to other leagues.

He's speaking for the vast majority of people when he says that.

Yes I understand that but seeing his line of work and the fact that when this is over there is a chance that the players will have to finish the season. these remaining games will be VERY important to most teams to determine their fate for next season so players coming back fatter will hurt their teams results.

Meunier: "I didn't injured Hazard, he got injured after clashing with me. That's different. But at no time I thought that he could miss the Euros. When they got cancelled I told myself that 'Eden was a friend of the Lord and that he did everything possible to cancel them'. It worked out well."

I don't think some of these footballers live on the same planet of the rest of us.

What a thing to say. Does he not realise people are dying?

I have no idea how self indulgent he must be to just say this to any press. I hope someone explain to him the implication of his statement but I doubt it.

TV broadcasters 'consider suing' Premier League if season is not completed

They will settle for sure.

You'd assume that any half-decent contract would have a force majeure clause to handle situations like a global pandemic.

Sensitive contracts have them for the most part, think government critical contracts. But most non critical contracts they don't care enough since they figure there is small chance of anything happening and saves them the time negotiating satisfactory terms for all parties when they occur, yes it's stupid to not have at least a standard process.

Uefa lifts Saturday 15:00 football TV blackout in England and Scotland for the remainder of the 19/20 season

The question is will England and Scotland go back to enforcing it for the next season?

Is Griezmann playing better with Barcelona than at Atletico Madrid?

Imho he is worse off in Barcelona. He's not playing in his favorite position and Barcelona playing style does not suite his strengths. He should know this and factored it into his decision to to go there so it's all on him. At least we are spared La Décision 3

some Atlético news:

Felipe: "I won the trust of El Cholo because of my way of working. I didn't start out playing, but I continued my work, always keeping my mouth shut and doing what he asked me to do".

Simeone like to couch with an iron fist.

Atlético Madrid must decide Nehuén Pérez's future. He is shining at Famalicão and at 19 years old he also excelled at the Pre-Olympic, where Argentina became champion. Simeone has four first-rate central defenders.

Atlético defense will be solid in the long run (for as long as Simeone still the manager)

Van De Beek: “Playing in the sun is always nice, but I haven't started taking Spanish classes yet. It is not just that they [Real Madrid] love me, I also have to fit in with their system and, of course, I also want to know how much gametime they are going to give me.”

IF he actually come to Real Madrid he need to be prepared for FIERCE competition for the spot in the first team.

Maybe there will be a decline in the total money spent.

[La Vanguardia] EXCLUSIVE: Six Barça board members resign simultaneously and leave Bartomeu in a very delicate position

The situation in Barcelona is getting to a boiling point. I wonder who will be their next president.

Roberto Carlos: "Roy Hodgson destroyed me, made me play in midfield. That way I was not going to have any chance to play for the national team and there was a Copa América in 1997. It wasn't that we got along badly, it was that he didn't know much about football."

And this was the catalyst that led to Carlos joining Real Madrid. thank you Roy :messenger_beaming:

Arsenal dangling a carrot over their own players:

Arsenal tell players they can avoid wage cuts through Champions League qualification

Are they offering this because they are confident the players cannot achieve that? or is it a case of holding off what they deserve in order to force them to achieve what the board think they are owed given the talent and the wages?

Ed Woodward deserves credit for helping Manchester United weather the storm | Focus on securing noodle and mattress partners has brought derision but it will protect the club during football’s shutdown

He is doing a good job on the financial side for sure but if the football does not improve the finance side will take hit and Woodward can't do anything about it.

The PR man Woodward hired to improve his image has been doing good work for him. And to be honest, United's finances over the past few years have actually stalled. Woodward came up with the model of having all these regional partners, and that gave United's finances a huge boost but everyone else is now doing similar things and United haven't really maintained that level of growth for a while now.

Rio Ferdinand: “Barca gave us an absolute lesson at Wembley. I was standing there watching them lift the trophy and me, Giggsy and Scholesy were standing together with our hands over our mouths and I said: ‘I feel embarrassed lads’. Messi took liberties.”

What did Fergie do though?

Many clubs had regional partners. Yes it was not as wide spread as it is now but it was not new and it did help United as you said. The problem is that the club football trajectory went down and still is and without that your finances WILL suffer no matter what. I think if United did better on the football front the finances would not stale the way it did.

Man Bartomeu must leave .. after the PR Company scandal and the way he run the club

The six board members who resign is just the beginning

I think yesterday 12 or 13 board members swore allegiance to Bartomeu
So it looks he is staying for the time being and will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way

EDIT: Hosam6xavi Hosam6xavi

Barcelona board changes:

Bartomeu is building a new board with the directors that swore allegiance to him from the previous one as the core. Or at least it looks like that.

Yeah he started campaigning from now that's why he started building new board

The vice president right now has the majority of vote from club members .. he's not thinking about running for presidency but Bartomeu don't trust him that's why he sacked him

The next elections is next year? or was it 2022?
In either case Barcelona will enter a transition period as Messi phase out of the team (he will have to play less sooner or later) if you combine that with turmoil in the club management that can result in a dark period for Barcelona.
Barcelona members need to choose VERY wisely who they want to be the next president in this transition period.

Yep next year 2021

Messi can Still play for 4 More years but not at his current position and role

We need Neymar and lautaro and new defensive player next season

The transition will happen during your next president time at the helm hence he will be responsible for setting up the team and building it so the transition does not effect Barcelona too much hence why I said the next president choice is VERY vital.

you really want Neymar back? I wouldn't personally if I was in your place.

Welcome :messenger_grinning:

Did they fix the issues that led Swansea to get relegated? you were doing fine one season and then the next you crashed hard and got relegated.
