The OP is pretty much the only one making the claim and only because they rushed to create a thread without checking all the facts.

The OP is far from the only person eating this up and perpetuating it, knowing full well how bogus the initial claims being made in the OP were. It didn't seem to matter to quite a few posters that this was a re-upload of a twitch stream that wasn't even all that high quality to begin with.

Wow that mountainside in that pic looks terrible, as do the trees on the side. Is this from Forza 4?

Where forza 4 improved in lighting and other things they also started to strip polygons away from the tracks a fair bit, if you compare the same tracks in 3 and 4 together you will see where they either smoothed down areas or removed detail, added in new view blocking scenery and those small details slightly far from the track are more or less removed.

So GAF detectives, what do you think?

I know the quality of those "print screen youtube to paint" sucks (maybe someone can capture better shots), but:


















- worse and faded ambient lighting?
- worse and blurry shadows (not even casting leaves)?
- worse and less tree models?
- then: less audience in places but they were 3d models; now: more audience in one place but 2d models?
- lack fog near bridge or much less visible?
- other small details?


or it's just my imagination?

Sure there are more changes in there but this is a quick glance at the shots.

Pretty extensive. A shame for prospective buyers that this is downgraded so heavily when all of the other Xbone launch games have shown pretty extensive upgrades. And very dishonest for MS to have been using older builds for demos right up until launch.

Pretty damning evidence. It's quite a substantial downgrade.

Downgrades.

- Overall lighting and dynamic range
- Textures
- Geometry
- Shaders
- Ambient Occlusion
- Quality of crowd models
- Motion blur
- Shadow quality
- Post processing (reduction of fog etc)
- Anti Aliasing
- Number of trees and quality of foliage

Upgrades.

- Certain buildings now have windows
- Bloom has been reduced

"Stuff" happens. The direct-feed footage still looks great, IMO, and did so when i played the half-assed Laguna Seca build.

Not just a downgrade, but a pretty massive one. Even ignoring the standard Youtube compression issues, there are a lot of differences. The lighting seems to be far less complex, among other things.

Overall though, it certainly doesn't look bad, and they've at least managed to lock the resolution and framerate at 1080p/60. If I was picking up an Xbox One, I'd still get Forza (and grumble about the microtransactions).

i am not sure why. but i do not find this game impressive or next gen at all. its like its almost can be done on xbox 360.

when playing 2D fighting games. you can see a jump in graphics from 360 games to Xbox one with KI.

but this ? yeah um... i don't think so.
