Nice OT. Has anyone played the expansion area yet? I only did the intro and it seemed pretty neat so far.

Is there any noticeable changes to justify a purchase or should I continue with FH3?

Nah, continue with FH3. FH4 is a good game but it actually downgraded in terms of sounds and game play compared to FH3. Also, whoever decided on the character selection needs to be fired immediately. They all look like sjw hipsters.

What the hell are you talking about?
This is complete and utter nonsense.

Handling is improved.

Drifting is tighter.

Visuals are upgraded.

HDR is vastly improved.

60 FPS option if you have a Xbox One X

3 different seasons which change gameplay and add a ton of variety to the game (areas change graphically as well as geographically according to season).

Better co op events.

More cohesive full-on open world with the ability to purchase property and change cars at ANYTIME, anywhere.

And that’s just for starters. Wake up dude.

Obviously I like the game. I find quite a bit has improved from Horizon 3, visuals for a start, but there are lot of changes that were made that I think added to the game. I spent a lot of time with Horizon 3 over the last two years and have found myself doing the same with Horizon 4. I really like the road layout in the game, there are a lo more turns, and a ton more gravel sections which are my favorite roads in the series. Ripping through the woods on the narrow logging trails in a higher class rally car is harrowing as the trees lining the track aren't moving if you hit them. Going back to Horizon 3 I notice a lot of things missing both in terms of visuals, but also how the cars handle, the terrain, etc. Having the car delivery service was a welcome change. The paint mode is more comprehensive if you're into that. The photomode was recently updated to add a bunch of new options when taking shots like headlight activation, a camera panning mode, removing the driver, or removing crowds if you're into that. I haven't run out of reasons to play and usually run it almost daily for a race, make a livery, or generally rip around leveling up the cars.

The route creator has probably eaten up more of my time than some entire games have. Building a track that can manage to work well in all four seasons can actually be a challenge.

Ignore this absolute bollocks, its loads better than 3, the seasons alone give it a huge advantage and thats without the hundreds of other improvements.

I cringed so fucking hard when I first saw the characters, their outfits and the emotes available. Turned me off the game completely besides the setting and the fact that you can't change seasons on whim yourself (Blueprints don't count).

I loved FH1 and FH3. I just never cared for the European map(s).

The seasons are a rubbish gimmick. Actually, most people stop playing the game once winter hits. I read that somewhere that had statistics. Ill try to find a link soon.

I have not played a Forza Horizon game before, but 4 is pretty fun.

I do have to agree with the cringe inducing characters and the dancing after a win. But that aspect is pretty minor compared to the not stop in your face cringing cutscenes and such in The Crew 2

I'm not crazy about the map. Don't like driving on the left and there's too much traffic, too many roundabouts. It's not a fun map to drive around and cruise. Also dislike the fake online names all the other drivers have.

Honestly, in terms of gameplay, both The Crew 2 and FH4 seem like a step back from Test Drive Unlimited. So many gimmicks, so much millennial culture jammed down your throats.

I think one of the first things I did was ditch the skinny jeans. I'm a 40 year old man, I don't have time for skinny jeans.

It's actually not hard to make a character wearing just about the same thing I wear after work though. As a follically challenged individual I would have liked the option to choose the hair style, including bald, as any character I build has to have a lush, thick toupe. With a hat on though, this character looks almost exactly like a younger me, harkening back to the days where I could actually gracefully hop into something like an Ariel Atom and not look like a sorriest sight you've ever seen.

I wouldn't call the seasons rubbish, as I've actually found areas in each I like racing in. I absolutely do find the lack of an option to change the seasons manually, at least in solo play, a pretty glaring oversight. I live in a frozen wasteland, and the last thing I want to do after driving home on icy, slippery, shitty roads, is to drive on icy, slippery, shitty roads. I understand why the online portion is stuck to the weekly schedule to keep the map consistent for all players, but even then they could have had the option to choose what season you want when you start the game, and have it dump you in a server with other players who chose that season.

Hopefully that is something they can make a change to via patch in the future. This is by far my GOTY, but it's not a flawless experience by any means.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Should have been winter for Christmas week, not summer.

Appreciate the game is sold all over the world, but it's set in England so it should be winter.

Missed a trick there, Playground Games...

So is the Fortune Island worth picking up? I've heard mixed things.

I'm not finished with it, so there may be stuff I'm missing.

But so far, I'd say it's enjoyable, and if you want more FH4, it'll give you that. Nothing special, though.

I think my initial impression of it being Storm Island all over again is not that far off. (Although it's better in that FH4 > FH2.)

Just a quick, compressed screenshot, as I'm just starting the DLC, but looking great so far.

Thanks for OT as well, very nice job.

I'm just about done it, I'll say I like the new mountain roads and weather effects, but there aren't enough of either. It's either lightning and rain, or northern lights, not a lot of anything else. I'm enjoying the route creator on the new map. I would say I preferred both the Blizzard Mountain and the Hot Wheels expansions over this one so far. Blizzard Mountain had ridiculous verticality and the blizzard effects were amazing. I also really liked the layout of the map. The Hot Wheels expansion was all kinds of fun and really took a detour from what the main game was, it's probably my favorite so far of all the Horizon games.

Spot on what I thought as well. Storm Island had some really cool weather effects, but was more or less forgettable overall. Some nice new roads to drive on and a bit of exploring but nothing really new added to the game.

Uninstalled FH3, gonna try to rake up achievements in Forza Motorsport 3.

Might need a break from the Horizon series.

I just updated the current seasonal info up top.

I also made a couple new rides for the Horizon Taxi company. One for the Hoonigan '55 Bel-Air and one for the '55 Classic. I've been making good use of the ability to paint wheels added in update 3.
slXhP1U.jpg

I've been trying to get a Crown Vic since the game launched, I've seen it in the auction house a couple times, but never when I have the cash, and I've missed it on a few wheel spins. I made an RCMP livery for it in FM7 but I can't seem to upload it to my designs. Either they changed the mesh or they just changed the data for the car somehow so my FM7 designs for the Crown Vic don't appear in my import files.

Went back to my hometown for Christmas and played some Golf Story on the Switch. When I got home I fired this game up almost immediately. Horizon 4 is a way better racing game than Golf Story, no contest. Just Saying.

Did they change the probability rates for the super wheelspins? The last 12 I got are just shit. Straight up shit. I mean like 3 greens: 5k, 20k, 5k.
Or only green clothes. Not a single car above blue. While my normal wheelspins seem to be normal.

I was wondering that myself, I had a run of absolutely shit-tier cash prizes, like a dozen or so, but then I won 6 FE Edition cars and legendary stuff. I can't seem to find any articles or anything on FM.net about any changes made to wheelspin probability.

I think you may have actually had a string of bad luck.

Seems like bad luck on your end psn psn . My last couple wheel spins I've gotten 500,000 cr and a Ferrari. I've lost count of how many horns and dumb hats I'll never end up never using.

True dat. Might be. But its the same for my mate. Usually we make the most money in the wheelspins, but the last days we must have been very unlucky.

Also: I hate the winter. The driftzones on "dirt" are impossible to do in the winter, because you can't see the road and the driving line is no help. What you think is a perfect drift in the middle of the road might end up with 0 drift points for that corner.

Usually for drifts I try to put my back wheels on the line or the back end of my car. Seems to work most of the time.

Playing on my PC and it looks great and runs like a champ.

Only problem I have with the game and it goes for 3 as well is that it's too easy to get a really fast car.
It doesn't feel like it's got good progression IMO.

There really isn't any progression. It's a sandbox game. You make your own fun. I spend most my time racing A and B level cars (mostly muscle cars).

With that said, I do find it annoying that you can spend 3 hours racing an old muscle car and pick up maybe 2-3 skill points. Yet if you just drive on the highway in a hypercar like the Vulcan FE you'll get 10 in 5 minutes. It doesn't take more skill to drive a Vulcan on the highway at 220 mph than it does to zoom around curves in a muscle car

edit: It's funny, I work with someone who has a Crown Victoria ex police car. And I'm like "Dude, you have one of the most rare and sought after cars in the world, worth millions....in a video game, at least"

You can thank all the people that cry rivers when there is any sort of barrier to getting faster cars in racing games. In Forza Motorsport 7 people were losing their minds that you had to get all the way to tier 5 to unlock all the cars. I think I hit level 5 after a couple hours. I had three of the fastest cars in the game and aa handful of FE cars on my initial batch of wheels spins in Horizon 4.

I find I have the most fun making routes that reflect the cars I'm making them for. I built a route called "Moonshine Run" for muscle cars that covers just about every gravel/dirt road in the game including a really fun stint though the quarry.

I still don't have a Crown Vic, and I've been actively trying to get one.

I made this for it in FM7 not knowing it was going to be a damned unicorn.

Didn't know what to expect at first but this ended up being the racing game I played the most this gen. Last gen was wipeout and motorstorm series. It's just... So damn fun.

We should hangout on the game. My Xbox live tag is also GrayFoxRJ. Neogaf's discord can be of use
I will play once they changed to spring, just too tilted atm :D

Too much weird gamedesign in this one, you have to google to find out some driftzones are seasonal. And they don't scale the point limit for forzathons. So if you start with 2 or 3 ppl you are mostly fucked. GG Playground games.

Good to see some EVOs making a return, now we just need Toyota to add some of their cars to compliment the trucks.

I'm pleasantly surprised with the amount put into the updates on the game, It seems they are covering every area of complaint as time goes on. Solo Adventure was one of the most asked for game modes and they are delivering it. Hope to see the option to choose your season in offline mode in a future update.

Hopefully the updates keep on at the pace they've been going.

Anybody that wants a regular racing suit in the game, one of this week's seasonal challenge prizes is a red racing suit. Between that, Mitsubishi making a comeback, and the dancing being taken out I'd say it's been a good month so far.

i bought the game at launch but never really had time to play it. have just started it and i'm in love.

it feels so surreal to be driving around Edinburgh/Scotland and driving on the left side of the road while sitting on the right side of the car feels so natural to me.

i guess this is how it feels to be american. you all have too many games that let you drive on the wrong side of the road/car and in your american cities. thanks Forza for making a game for us british people.

I think if the next one isn't based in Japan there will be chaos in the streets, but at the same time I have a strange feeling we'll be seeing the USA once again, namely the northern west coast.
