Forza Motorsport 8 details by Creative Director Chris Esaki

Ask me about my fanboy energy!

We experienced our new tyre model, our new tyre pressure model. We have a new way that heat interacts with tyre pressure, we actually have dynamic track temperatures affecting this all. We have dynamic rubbering in on the track. We actually have a new atmospheric pressure system that accurately has pressure affecting things like air density, affecting aerodynamics and power, as well as the tyre pressure. We have an entire new suspension system with new suspension modelling.
They had the first studio wide playtest on 6 December, 2019 and there are 15 other things that are 'under the hood'.

Please let this still be a couple years away. Please don't force this to match the Scarlett launch and fix all the odds and ends before launch instead of a year after launch this time.
You can pretty much count on it being a launch title. Forza alternates the horizon/motorsport each year and they didnt release a motorsport this year. 5 was in 2013, 6 was in 2015, 7 was in 2017.

I don't play these games much so my opinion is nigh-worthless, but they gotta slow down with how they churn these out.

I don’t think so. Every two years is a decent delta between games. There are notable advances for each iteration with a two year development cycle. Although this one may be more like three years. We will see.

*sigh*. Turn10 could have instead turned their talents towards making a HUGE HUMONGOUS OPEN WORLD JRPG SINGLE PLAYER 10 MILLION SELLER at $60 A POP

I see buthurt sony fanboys in this thread wich is funny that they can still talk about Forza after all the reviews, graphics and sales talk that they lost lol. Keep fighting, one day you will have a game close to Forza so you can atleast have a decent job at defending it till death.

Actually, if Kaz/PD screw up big times with nest GT yet again, with all those high performance CPU threads, double digit TF GPU, RT support, tons of high-bandwidth RAM, SSD drive, and what's not, there won't be any excuse at all on the hardware this time around, and I just cannot imagine GT series regaining its former glory ever again.

You don't play them much and you're suggesting for them to slow down. That makes no sense at all..
Makes sense to me cause getting a Motorsport and Horizon game every other year doesn't make me want to get the new ones since I know there's another just around the corner.

In all honesty, the fans of the series should determine that, not those who do even play the game. Your opinion almost doesn't count....almost.

Yeah i hope not, because competition is good for both franchise's. I like them both and play them both. But the people on GT side (sony fanboys) are only bashing Forza while ignoring all the faults and flaws of GT. They woreship KAZ like hes some god or something.

They need to improve their game because the December 2019 Gran Turismo Sport is kilometers above whatever Turn 10 released the last time.

I just want them to fix that horrible jutter bug on Nordschleife and Le Mans on Xbox, hey you know just two of the most important tracks in motorsport is all.

The wiper shake nonsense needs to go as well.

3 years is a decent amount of time between titles for a game like this where so many assets can be brought across.

Maybe I’m the only one but I’d like to see more original circuits.
They are more entertaining (and visually more appealing) and creative.
I miss the Japanese ones.

Forza 7 was a huge disappointment. It seems like too much focus on random unlockables and stuff your driver wore than a fun and enjoyable racing career/progression like the original Forza (or GT), where you start with a slow car, race, win money, upgrade, win more money, buy better cars.

The driving model isn't important if the career gameplay isn't fun. People don't want a car simulator, they want a game.

We have a product for you, it's called Forza Horizon.

Oh boy, I am so excited for this. Forza Motorsport 7 came out 2017! It is time. Still running laps in FM7 nearly weekly since launch!

While I think, that the physics and tracks are fine in FM7, they will have to improve the lighting and graphics a lot.
Despite owning the other racing sims on pc, FM7 cant be beaten as a complete package.
The realistic lighting and online racing in GT Sport are just so much better than what we have for now. I hope Turn 10 saw that too.

New tyre model, suspension physics and so on. That sounds really good.

Best thing is, that we wheel users can use our hardware on the Xbox Series X too. And of course on pc too, because they will probably release it there too.

Day one!

I follow Turn10's hiring spree a bit and one opening is really interesting:

Procedural Technical Artist

Responsibilities

  • Assist the environment team with prototyping new techniques for population of environments with pre-authored assets using Houdini or similar software
  • Work with Tools and Tech Art teams to create procedural rulesets and tools for dynamic placement of assets such as roads, forests, fences, etc.
  • Identify pipelines for feeding authored assets into our proprietary Forzatech rendering engine
  • Keep performance optimization in mind with procedural assets

It sounds like they want to implement a track creator or something like that. One can only speculate.

They are also searching for an Environmental Artist that specialises in vegetation.

I am really hyped for FM8. But we have not much news to hang on so far.

Track creator would be an absolute insane addition. Just imagine all the fan creations of tracks that will and do never make it, just look at what the Forza fans manage to do in livery creation fuck me. We'll have 1:1 creations the world over in no time. Forza is a PC title so want to custom create backdrop items with custom imported textures for the creator? Go right ahead.

Oh, sorry. Two launch titles then. Big difference.

And uh what are the two titles larger than Forza and Halo launching on the other system at launch?

Any way of delivering more tracks will be a good one, it's one of the series biggest problems, because the studio didn't add enough new (or returning) tracks in FM6 and 7.

I wish polyphony was as prolific as Turn 10. These dudes get these games out there at a good clip.

I would say, that both next-gen GT and FM will be truely amazing experiences. Both companys have build a serious foundation and will deliver. Horizon 5 will just be the icing on the cake.
