It was flown by the morons who idolized the morons who wanted to keep slaves in the American south, and ended up getting their asses kicked. It's not even the real confederate flag, the second version of which looked more appropriately like the white flag of surrender (you can't make this shit up). It's the battle flag (ironic, because they absolutely sucked at battle) which was appropriated sometime after the war, as a means of intimidating freed blacks and other minorities. The design itself is fairly interesting (I thought so too when I was young), I can't deny that. But it also ironically takes cues off the British union jack, a country the US defeated to gain independence.

It speaks a lot about the herpy-derpy, inbred dumbassery that was the confederate south, and how they didn't have a single original idea...not even slavery. But some people will claim it as their heritage, because...well...they're not very smart.

Lol, you're so salty about....something. Also, thanks for helping Trump get elected in 2016. Sounds like you're still unhinged though.

Seems like a good idea to me.

But I'm not American, I have only heard negative things about the flag and seems to be loved by rednecks which re-enforces its bad image.

Maybe there is something positive about the flag if someone could explain what I am missing?

Racists don't know what virtue signalling even means. This is implementing new policies to correct an omission. "Bu-bu-buh ma hairtij!" Cry me a river. Racists have taken more Ls in 2020 than the Confederacy did in is entire, sad and pitiful existence.

But people like you says that racism is everywhere, that there are racists in every corner and that all the problems of society and all the problems of minorities are caused by racists.

By your own saying, racists are winning like crazy. They are moping the floor with the “”””non racists”””.

Reading the responses in here, yes, they are crushed. If you wait for wholesale change, you'll wait forever. Incremental change is better than no change. You might understand that if you spent decades experiencing the other side, after coming from a country where you were once the majority and never experienced racism growing up. You can make more sarcastic quips about it, but makes no difference to me. This isn't about you.

Not really. Not sure anyone even implied that. I watched the Dukes of Hazard growing up, and quite enjoyed the show and the General Lee. I also didn't know anything about the symbols, as I wasn't even living in America. I lived in a country where everyone looked like me. Now that I understand the history of the symbol, and spend most of my life in the racist-ass American south, I have a much different opinion of the show. You wouldn't think the symbol means enough for people to be offended, but then look at you. You're clearly a product of the loser's flag being bandied about as a benign symbol, when it's not. That's why policy changes like this matter. We don't care if current racists continue down their paths of ignorance. It's about fomenting change, so that future generations can eventually live in a world rid of dimwits.

If you never start, you'll never finish. This is a start. I wish it was more, but we take what we can get.

So your not from the country and it offends you because you moved to the 'racist ass south'?

Me too. I remember Reagan gave an address one night that pre-empted the show. I was so pissed and made my mom promise to wake me up if DOH came on after the speech. Which of course it didn't. At that age I had no concept of the flag or what it meant despite having some best friends that were black. I just thought it looked cool. Now, I know better. Let's be honest there are a lot of things that we did or watched back in those days that we wouldn't do or condone today. Times and people change. We should always try to learn and improve, even if it means acknowledging that we were wrong or misinformed about something in the past. Ignoring it and refusing to fix a wrong is worse than dealing with a little embarrassment.

Or maybe people shouldn't be such fucking pussies and worry more about real bullshit instead of an old flag on a TV car.

One of the most recognisable car liverys just gone. Just like that. I feel bad for anyone who liked that car growing up but fuck what they want. Bandwagon hoppers coming through.

I once lived near a friend who had a Confederate flag in their living room...walked in and out of the house in one piece, all my limbs were still attached...he was a bit of a country redneck but also pretty chill and liked cars a lot.

We actually kept in touch for a long while afterwards, this all started back in high school. And no, I'm not white. So....why are the indoctrinated college babies crying about a virtual flag in a racing game again?

I admit I had made assumptions about your race... you thicc lady lovin' man.

Glad to hear that the conferate flag owner didn't dismember you though, I'm just glad you actually went in his house and didn't run away screaming lol I'd be saying that if you just told us you were white as well because so many people have some crazy intolerances going on these days, ultimately its just a flag so you should actually engage with the owner to see what their views are before branding them a <insert negative connotattion>.

How about showing some empathy for the people that are negatively affected by it?

In 2020 nobody, absolutly fucking nobody is being effected negativly by it.
If we go by that stupid standard we can ban 99% of signs/banners/things in the world because at one point they were used in relation to oppression. I could go after Austria, Italian immigrants could go against us and so on and so on.

Oh wait only american history and modern slavery matters in your brain, nevermind.

No, not at all. Giving the flag back to confederacy groups and hate groups isn’t the way. They just win.

Trivializing and taking away from them is. I want people to see that flag and think it exists because of Dukes of Hazzard or it’s Lynyrd Skynyrd’s banner or it’s just a cool looking flag.

Its not heritage to me because of the confederacy, hate groups, or Dixiecrats.

It’s literally heritage because of its trivialization and southern pop culture, rebels and rednecks and I’ll never apologize for that.

What is there to fix though? The past is the past, I want to look back on it and learn the mistakes that were made and learn from it, erasing history is objectively bad imo.

Even if its the vilest, most racist, <insert ist word> thing that every existed, I still want people to see it so they don't repeat it in the future.

So like uh actually the ANV Battle Flag was/is the flag for the Sons of the Confederacy was flown at memorial services. The Dixiecrats brought the flag back and indoctrinated it with hate and segregation as those were the ideals Dixiecrats were pushing. Ever since then the flag got sucked into pop culture and became a nation wide fad for “rebels” “rednecks” “good ole boys” and rock music. Which those same politicians and confederacy groups hated, and tried to push legislation saying it was desecration and trivialization of their flag.

So your literally for stopping that desecration and trivialization of the Rebel flag and agree with Confederate Heritage Groups.

See how stupid you look now, when you don’t understand something.

Confederate Heritage Groups and the people that flew that flag literally hated that their flag became pop culture and was trivialized and taken to mean something totally different.

Smh fucking clown world man
Shed any tears over the lack of Nazi memorials or symbols? No? Okay. Why would I care or respect the memorials to people who fought for slavery? I don't know if you know what the stupid thing is here.

Lol, you're so salty about....something. Also, thanks for helping Trump get elected in 2016. Sounds like you're still unhinged though.
I didn't even make it political. I like that you automatically associated my anti-racism comments with a particular political party. These are logical leaps that you'd probably try to argue against in another topic.

But people like you says that racism is everywhere, that there are racists in every corner and that all the problems of society and all the problems of minorities are caused by racists.

By your own saying, racists are winning like crazy. They are moping the floor with the “”””non racists”””.
I said there's racism everywhere? Have a lot of colored straw to build your straw men out of? I don't even know what the second point is that you're trying to make.

So your not from the country and it offends you because you moved to the 'racist ass south'?
Yes. Never experienced racism until i moved to the US. Does that mean I should ignore the racist history of the flag?

I don't know how some of you justify some of your posts here, but let's just be clear:
  1. Some of us are supporting the decision to ban the use of a symbol that you couldn't even remotely begin to say is not racist (although Tinman seemed intent on trying for some mind-boggling reason). We also said fuck anyone who doesn't agree (again, with a point that is against a racist symbol). So you clutch your pearls and you are taking negative or sarcastic stances against...get this...anti-racism. The opposite of anti-racism is pro-racism. When did you decide the fight for a racist symbol was the correct hill to die on?
  2. The decision to ban an offensive symbol is no different than banning pornography or other racist symbols, like the swastika. I know about the origins of the swastika, but the percentage of people who use it for good in a video game setting are somewhere between zero and none. I don't know if anyone is placing an image of a Hindu monument, like in Genting Highlands, on their cars. You can't reasonably argue in favor of these things, so why are you even trying with the confederate flag?
  3. These aren't opinions you would even begin to espouse in a public setting, because you'd either lose your job (if you even have employable skills, which I'm doubting), or you'd catch a 2-piece from someone who'd be justifiably offended. You don't walk around in your klan hoods, do you? I don't think so. So what makes you think espousing really dumb opinions on the flag of the losing side of the civil war is a valid opinion that anyone should even consider? You're just the racist equivalent of a keyboard gangster then. Not at all impressive.
In the end, own who you are. Call me leftist, or throw around whatever other labels you like. I can live with those. I've heard worse from better people. However, some of you clearly can't stomach the thought of being called racist, eventhough that's pretty much what you present yourselves as in the process of making these responses. Only one of us seems to be comfortable with who he presents himself to be, and he's the author of this post.

Those who erase the past are doomed to repeat it.

The flag is a part of US history. We should try to learn and improve, not hide the past. Nobody is going to learn anything about that flag and it’s history if it’s censored from being seen.

I really don’t care about Forza blocking it. BRAND doesn’t actually care either. What I do take issue with is people trying to delete history instead of learning from it.

This is slightly offtopic, but I remember seeing quite a lot of Trump liveries during previous presidential elections, especially on the limo in the game. I wonder if they've started banning them as well.

Call everyone else a racist when you're called out while putting yourself on a pedestal like an arrogant prick.

Yeah, you're definitly not full of shit.

I have to say though, as a kid when i watched the dukes of hazard and saw the general lee, i had no idea what that flag meant. It just looked like a cool car.

I dont think anyone who looks at that flag will immediately turn into racist. And on the flipside, removing it also wont stop racism.

But if it makes everyone feel better, go ahead and remove it.

I'm not on a pedestal, but I'm not a racist. Point out where I've taken a stance against any particular race, or promoted a symbol that would offend any particular race. I'm new to the forum, but commented enough on race and SJW topics that you can probably note I don't speak negatively of anyone except those that are intolerant. And I make no apologies for that. No rational person ever got angry at someone for being too tolerant of others.

And yes, I think if you try to defend something like a swastika or the confederate flag, that you are racist. Walks like it. Talks like it. So the saying goes. Don't want to be called racist? Don't do racist shit. Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes. There are so many of these useful sayings that so many constantly forget or ignore, and end up embarrassing themselves.

Oh cry me a fucking river. You put yourself on a pedestal by saying *onnnnnnly me*. Go fuck yourself. I know people like you. You're the absolute scum of humanity pretending to be virtuos. So, I really have to justify absolute shit to you.

I'm Swiss btw, also have experienced various isms in my life and work (while in other countries and mostly faith related), thankfully avoided most life-threatening shit (well except one or two situations that could have gone south) and actually do have much better things to do arguing over who's *intolerant* or not like actually helping people. Which you may actually try someday. But I'd assume you'd put yourself on a pedestal again or even expect thanks. In which case just stay the fuck away and let the useful people be useful.

Are you a narcissist by any chance?

Bolded: The world got pretty angry at Germans for being tolerant of people with bigoted ideologies. That seemed rational.
