The average sales price for console hardware was around 490 euros in 2025 (up 16% from 2024 and 83% from 2019).

If we admit that these proportions aren't different in other countries (and i believe they aren't as different).... no, xbox wont ever have exclusives again, the patform simply cannot sustain it self for that (100% MS fault).

Not good for consoles in general in France. Next Xbox DOA, PS6 will sell slower than PS5 or 4. Switch 2 starting slow; needs some heavy hitters pronto, but will still end up lower than Switch 1, PS5, or PS4.

Nintendo dudes are really gonna start hating on France now? 😁

Supposed to be one of Nintendos stronger markets in Europe.

If Nintendos fy forecast end ups correct then they won't be doing that much better then ps5 in it's fifth year on the market. They better hope they lowballed that forcast.

Well done, PlayStation, you've mostly killed a market that used to be yours (alongside Nintendo; here, no one even sees the point of the Switch 2). That's quite an achievement to be proud of! None of my friends or the people I talk to here want your live service games. The PS6, aka the "live service station" as it should be called, could be a major flop in France.

Not good for news for gaming with these results.

I'm not surprised with consoles getting more expensive and most people going through a cost of living crisis. Unless something changes, this is just going to get worse year on year.

Switch 2 in 2025 selling as well as Switch 1 in 2024.

'Killed' when it's already at 65% of the PS4 LTD as of late 2025 and it still has two years to go. Sure, it will slow down even more with the price hikes, but an additional 1M up to late 2027 isn't impossible and there isn't an enormous difference between 5M and 6M. Seems like not addressing the elephant in the room with France being a huge Nintendo-oriented market (Nintendo Switch has long been the best selling console of all time there!) and the Switch 2 underperforming big time.

It's not just one, it's THE strongest market for Nintendo in Europe.
Switch 2 at launch managed to keep up somewhat with Switch 1 between March and June 2017 (an actually great result!), but it's clear that it didn't have the same holiday bump that propelled Switch 1 to reach over 900K units by the end of 2017.
Not even 3 years and about to surpass PS5 as best selling system? Holy, SW2 is a monster
Nice shitpost, I laughed.

Japan and US must be a very large percentage of switch 2 sales with numbers like this.

Yep, PC is also suffering the same fate. Hardware sales for PCna dpC components have also fallen off a cliff.

The industry in general is not looking good if they can't find a way to keep prices under control.
everything is expensive now, back before $5 in my place can buy many groceries, veggies and protein, now I can only choose one side with that number ... imagine how much for tertiary needs such as games and pc here

I know people think the Xbox brand is dead, but Nintendo did manage to salvage their console business with the Switch after Wii U disaster. Yes, they had 3DS but even that wasn't as strong as DS.

If I was MS I would drop the Xbox name and innovate in the space just enough, while also have exclusive that are actually worth buying. Tall order and they'd never be able to rise to it, but it could be done.

Seeing this grim scene for XBOX probably in all the regions of the world except US makes me think how on earth does this have any hope for a tradational comeback.

People say exclusives but they can only make mediocre Halos, AoE,AoM,SC2,WoW are all PC, iD can't possibly make a better DOOM game than the last three, CoD is multi-platform till forever. All they have is Bethesda's Fallout and Elder Scrolls as a system seller, which is a sad statement if you pin all your hope on the makers of Starfield. Any creativity any developer would have for a new IP would be better utilized for existing IPs or Halo.

Lets see if E-Day is like GoW3 or more GoW5

"[2025] is the lowest hardware units total since the 1.0M units reached in 1996."

Yeah, it's really not looking particularly good for anyone, period.

It doesn't work like that tho.

Nintendo was able to pivot because they've had over 20 years of success, loyal fanbase, and brand recognition in France.
Even during their flop eras (Wii U, GC), they still had a strong presence with their handheld consoles.

Nintendo didn't salvage their console business they combined it with their handheld business. And that was always healthy.
