I didn't do much of note but I did get some time in with my chickens for the first time in a week or so. I read a bit more in The Razor's Edge. It's been such a wild experience to read this novel again after so long. I see the parts of younger me that the book resonated with. And now, other parts have me raptured. The passage below, for example strikes me as one of the most beautiful I've ever read. The person talking is relaying to the author of how he decided to go work in a coal mine after he and his fiancé broke off the engagement. He partners up with the massive polish guy who is smart as hell and loves cheating at gambling. Anyway, they drink and gamble and whilst drinking the pole will say deep stuff.
This morning I'm listening to some jazz and modern classical music while I read, drink my coffee, and enjoy a pastry. There's an art festival today that I'll attend and then go for a hike once the temperature picks up. I can't begin to tell you how rejuvenating the combination of music and reading is. My mental health improves so much when I take moments like this.
