Have you guys ever had experiences with friends who also happen to hang out with shitty people in the fandom? Have you ever wanted to say something to them about it? One of the major problems is that certain popular artists or fursuiters get so many people who want to be buddy-buddy with them that they can just be use as much bigoted rhetoric as they want and there will always be a number of people who back them up.

Every few weeks I feel like a new person pops up that has these ass backwards views and it just becomes an online argument for a few days between different mobs of people. I know the path of least resistance is just not bringing it up and letting it pass, but it kind of ruins the fandom as a safe space for people, no?

I've wanted to bring it up, but I'm torn between feeling like it isn't my place and simultaneously judging my friends a bit for it.

On the like one occasion anything similar to this has happened to me I just stopped talking to them.

I just don't have the energy to deal with that sort of thing tbh. Not worth the effort to me.

Anyone have advice for Midwest Fur Fest? I'm going on Thursday and Friday. Thinking of getting a table at artist alley for most of one of the days and then hang out on the other.

Do you have a room at the main hotel? If not enjoy walking each day in the cold. NEVER AGAIN.

Also Artist Alley is busy and there is a decent chance you won't even get a spot, so plan accordingly if you have downtime.

Actually, I don't have a room yet. The Hyatt is totally booked and I'm in the middle of trying to find roommates as well.

I was planning to go to the artist alley sign up first thing in the morning. Pretty sure there's gonna be a huge line for that. Also want to submit a painting to the art show, but they don't have the submission info for that on the site right now.

Edit: Oh, it's a lottery. Then getting up early seems pretty useless??

To enter Artist's Alley, artists must first sign up for a daily lottery. Names are drawn randomly for fairness in seating each day. Signups for Friday will occur before the opening of the alley.

Yeah it isn't guranteed but you need to get there early enough before the lottery closes to register.

*crosses fingers and hopes everyone is too hungover to wake up*

Now that you explained how it works, I'm having reservations about making a bunch of prints. Since I'm only going to be at the con for 2 days, something like 30 prints ought to be enough.

How's the Aloft hotel? It seems kinda far tbh. And well, you know Illinois in December...

Weather has always been a crapshoot during MFF. Pretty sure you can take half that walk in a skyway at least.

Also I recently got this painting done. Super happy with how it turned out!

Furries are crazy! It's not the first time I've had offers of over a grand for a single character commission but it is the first time getting multiple in the same week.

I never know how to feel about that considering my simple anime style for furry art.

I would probably be constantly nervous, hah...

That said, I guess it's always good to not be too heady about just how highly valued your work is to your chosen niche, and just focus on doing your best with every piece :)

(though good work on attracting that much in a week, whew)

Well I mean Coltraine just made me look at your page and damn some of those auctions... So I am not too surprised.

I wouldnt really say "simple anime style" though. It reminds me much more of modern comic books tbh.

Bread what's your fa or art page?

I think the most I've spent on a piece is 800 but that's like super rare for me to justify that to myself.

Best I've gotten was about $150 for a fully detailed full body character illustration, I guess I still have a long way to go, both in skill and notoriety.

Got 150 euros for this one recently, and it took me about a week to execute:

I'm curious, though.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
So I tried to name Digimen (hunky Digimon) within twitter's character limit. Managed to list 13 hunks!
