Windows Ultimate and a Bluray Burner would put you over 3K.

I'm considering getting a 360 controller thanks to this thread, but is there a way to use a dualshock 3 instead? Like, a proper driver that'll let me use it with Batman, etc. instead of ghetto-rigging it for indie games with Xpadder?

Don't think so. Native 360 Support is a requirement of Games for Windows games so I think that's why many games do it. Well, that and official driver support in Windows. For PS3, there aren't any official drivers. There are the hacked ones for wireless. Otherwise it's just standard USB.

I have no experience with the Dual Shock 3 on PC, but I have gotten a lot of use out of Logitech's rumblepads (wireless or wired, take your pick).

Combine those with an Xbox 360 controller emulator (fools the PC into thinking you have an official 360 controller) and you're laughing. Button prompts and rumble included.

Works great for RE5, Batman: AA, SFIV and a whole wack of other games. Plus it is very similar to a Dualshock in layout and feel.

Oh and it's got a better D-Pad.

Did Logitech make those drivers? Are they free? I definitely want to look at this. :)

If you want a good PC, you only need to spend 1k (high end cpu/gpu, one hard drive etc).

If you want a monster PC, you have to spend ~3k.

Unless you have a steady stream of income, or a decent amount of savings, I wouldn't go for the 'monster'.

Not to pile on, but my pre-built monster Blackbird with liquid cooling, etc., etc. didn't even hit $3K. And I was paying huge premiums for letting Voodoo put it together and for the awesome case it has. (One thing that was nice about Voodoo is that all the manuals and extra stuff that comes with the components they bag up and send to you with the machine. Pity their relationship with HP flopped.)

Hmm, the comfort is especially why I like my Sennheisers, they're open cup and go around your ear, rather than clamping on it.
I agree completely. I can't stand headphones that clamp on my ears for more than an hour, on the other hand I can wear my current ones that cup around it all day without any problems. I prefer AKG over Sennheiser though (in the mid-end where I do my purchasing, don't know about the high end or crazy end ;)).

Yes there is!

http://www.motionjoy.com

Supports Xbox 360 controller emulation. I haven't tried it, but the rest of the driver is great so I assume that works okay.

As long as you like using DS3 for 2D games, it does just about everything. Some people don't like it for 2D games and rather use a Sega Saturn USB pad (personally, don't like em at all).

Wow, thanks a lot. They even have a wireless fix!

I'm just using what I already have; the controller itself is negligible.
