Can't say I really agree with the diversity claim.
When did the last motostorm release? Demons Souls? Really?
Taking the current gen exclusives into consideration...
Almost all of thier AAA releases have been third person single player cinematic games that feature a lot of walking, climbing, and hiding in bushes. It's pretty apparent at this point that Sony's devs have been given Naughty Dog's Toolset and it shows. Bloodborne and Spiderman are both different, but that is because they are third party devs.
While they have released games like R&C and Gravity Rush, I'd like to see more diversity from Sony. Diversity is Sony's weakness when you look at the diversity MS and Nintendo are putting out.
Nintendo having games like BoTW, Smash, and Splatoon alone has more diversity than almost all of Sony.
MS having games like QB, Ori, Sea of Thieves, Cuphead, and Sunset Overdrive alone has more diversity than almost all of Sony.
With Nintendo just beginning to hit it's stride with the switch, and MS aquiring studios left and right, this disparity is only going to grow. Sony's game portfolio needs a genre refresh.
I guess MLB, Astro Bot, GT Sport, Driveclub, Killzone, Last Guardian, Resogun, Alienation, Matterfall, Knack are all the same type of games. No diversity in that bunch at all/s. IB4 those examples don't count because...reasons.Can't say I really agree with the diversity claim.

That's the smart decision, Sony are going to get absolutely pummelled by Microsoft and Nintendo next gen. Not to mention, Amazon and Google when they release their consoles.
Lol fanboyism at its finest ....
PlayStation is led too much by morons to be a continued success but hey, it's been a fun ride. Kudos Sony

"Sony puts out tons of AAA a year, and new IPs."
You and me must differ greatly on the meaning of 'tons' and 'new IP'.
Nintendo has created a whole universe in which it makes its games. While I agree that they over use some of their characters at times, they do vary the gameplay between the different series. Mario and Mario kart aren't even close to being in the same genre. Splatoon is a third person arena shooter that deals with paint rather than bullets. It's primarily played online as well I believe. Does Sony have a AAA arena shooter? Does Sony have a primarily online MP game period that isn't GTSport?
Sony has released a bunch of AAA games that are beginning to look and feel more the same.
Good thing that gaming is not a zero sum game where successes by Nintendo must cause void in quality elsewhere. Some people keep repeating this mantra “Sony releases games that feel the same”, but just repeating it does not necessarily make it true. Even when the camera is third person and you do shoot and explore, you can have tons of different gameplay variations (wait... I think in Splatoon you do kind of explore the environment, the camera is third person, and you shoot at things... and that is the same in Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine too... oh wow... ).
TLOU2 - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
GoT - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
Days Gone - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
I don't think Sony lacks quality though. I think their quality is top notch.
Let me put it this way. Sony is like an A class Steakhouse. They have T-Bone, ribeye, porterhouse, filet minion, but all their main course offerings are steak. While I love steak, I'd get awful tired of eating there everyday.
Nintendo is a bit like a themed restaurant. Their offerings might be called silly names, but their offerings are varied a bit more. They are quirky, and do their own thing.
MS is Chili's or IHOP.
Exactly! Thanks for helping prove my point.
TLOU2 - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
GoT - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
Days Gone - 3rd person cinematic featuring stealth bush hiding.
FF7 - It's not made by a 1st party dev, so it has potential. Who knows when it's coming.
Wild - I forgot all about this game seeing as it hasn't been mentioned in almost 4 years. Scalebound has more hype than this game, and that's a canceled game.
Dreams - This game could actually diversify Sony's portfolio... Of course I played Project Spark years ago, so I have no interest.
Erica - Completely throwing away any excuse to not use the term 'movie games', Erica is literally just a movie... Sold as a game.
Yeah, Sony's going to need to do better than that to diversify it's lineup. Especially in the AAA space.
Poor services, lack of features, high prices, and now censorship... To be fair, is there any reason to buy a PS4 besides the exclusive games or
herd behavior?
I haven't noticed a "social justice" conspiracy from Microsoft. I think you spend too much time on the Internet, there isn't a sinister plot to subvert your videogames.Don't go to Microsoft. They're all about "diversity" now. It's gonna be the same big circlejerk as everywhere else where the people come above the product again. Nothing against minorities or white people, I just want game development to be about the ideas and creativity and not social justice.

I completely agree and that's why I'm lowkey waiting for some genius to start a well-moderated message board that doesn't have to be "at war" with the other site or its users. I'm frankly just sick of all the shit-throwing between tribal groups and it's a phenomenon that doesn't even exist where I live (outside of the US) so I can hardly even relate to it. It just looks as if everyone has an axe to grind over self-created problems. This is a mirror-image of a Resetera thread. People dismissing games, platforms even, because someone associated with them has the "wrong" politics.
Demented and sad.
It's not a conspiracy. Agenda might even be pushing it, but it's very common to follow the trend of diversity these days. I can't count on my fingers the amount of times my friend from HS (and this was in 2013) complained that the head of his HS made speeches about "Diversity".I haven't noticed a "social justice" conspiracy from Microsoft. I'm getting real sick of Naughty Dog too tbh.

Yes, but with both boards very keen on bans, I think that's a counterproductive issue.Nobody can start that message board, it is the people contributing to it that is underneath it all. I say let people talk and discuss and let's try to be a bit more open to ideas we initially dislike. Abuses and truly damaging behaviour is normally dealt with quite well here, I think the mod / management team is doing a great job.
I was starting to kinda miss it in a weird way.Is it me or are we having a lot more “console wars” type thread lately? At first I said this as a joke but god damn, NeoGF is really starting turn in to Gamespot’s System Wars.
I was poking fun, I shouldn't have exaggerated your opinion. I agree with your overall point. It's not a conspiracy. I think more than anything it was just tonally inconsistent because Neil Druckmann cannot write something that isn't meant to be dead-serious. He pulled in Josh Scherr to remedy his boringness and it worked to some extent but as you say it also made it less consistent because as a result you can feel how it shifts between occasionally too serious and too "trying to be funny". And both parts made me cringe at times. There's the opening to the level where you enter the ball where Drake has an expository line on Rafe and says something to the effect of "I know time has passed but still...!" and that was such a Druckmann line, like he couldn't handle what he was getting at here. Then in a later chapter you have mansplaining jokes between Drake and Elena that has to show how he can't compliment his wife "because she's a woman" and I downright hated that.Uncharted IV was a fun weird mix of silly fun and too serious. Felt tonally inconsistent despite being enjoyable.

That said, I do appreciate cleaning the house of the worst of the worst of FAQ and the like, by which I mean blatant shitposting or immature trolling.
Before the bubble burst on GAF, I was first banned by Era-mentality people by making an admittedly tasteless (but still funny) remark in an Anita Sarkeesian thread about the tendency of harassment between male and female people, and then when it burst, it seemed as if some snide individuals had seen the ban-policies of GAF as an avenue to push for personal agendas and make them the norm. It pains me the most that today's GAF is basically everyone who wouldn't be compatible for Era and Era have decried GAF. It's just a split community and it makes gaming worse for it even if we're still just the fraction of the ignorant masses that dominates the install base of each gaming platform.
That’s the result of a community with diversity of players. Before the mass invites and Era Gaf was called SonyGAF for a good reason. The forum were worshipping Sony while talking excessive trash about Microsoft. After the mass invites it seems that the player bases between the platforms got more even, which was a joy for someone who isn’t obsessed with Sony.
Can't say I really agree with the diversity claim.

I definitely agree with but at the same I kind of hate that Sony doesn't properly market their more unique games like Gravity Rush, Puppeteer and Tearaway. They basically sending them to die.

BOOMERS EVERYWHERE
And it is starting to happen because GAF has lost all hope. Anything now goes. Open your eyes.
I kinda get what the OP is trying to say. The censorship thing doesn’t bother me at all; that game was borderline hentai and their policy hasn’t hurt any other game that I know of.
I do feel like they are getting a bit arrogant skipping E3 and all. Surely, if they don’t have enough new 1st party stuff to show, they can do a 3rd party showcase like MS did last year.
However, as long as they kee puttting our GOTY contender after GOTY contender, I’m happy staying in their camp until another company beats them at their own game.
New or used?I guarantee OP will buy PS5.
They censored Death Mark, a adventure/horror game, one of the last retail releases on the Vita i want, utterly stupid
This so much. Why this isn’t brought up more often in threads like this I have no idea. Not saying that MS doesn't have its bright spots. but truthfully if you're jaded about 3rd person cinematic adventures, what about Xbox's annualized stream of Forza titles? Yeah there's regular and Horizon, but seriously that aside they are all the same.
As someone who is also a frequent poster on gamespot, this couldn't be farther from the truth. Kbfloyd, tormentos, and secret police are far worse than any forum we have hereHolly shit. the fanboys in this forum are even worst than Gamespot comment section. Holy crap. Did gamefaqs crowd migrated here?
