GAF's Nintendo Discussion, News, and Speculation |OT|

I was moderately interested because mythology is neat and BOTW inspiration is cool and all but

BotW with Ubisoft open world design, on a system with BotW, is perhaps the worst pitch ever.

yeah when you put it this way I'm more tempted to just fire up BOTW again and finish that Master Mode playthrough.

I don't get what happened to Ubisoft in general. I remember their days pumping out stuff like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Beyond Good and Evil, and Rayman, and it seemed like they were really talented, and often with a European flavor that made their games stand out.

That was the whole reason people were excited for Assassin's Creed in the first place, the concept plus how good Ubisoft was.

Of course, that came out, was an overhyped bore with a lot of flash that took off with casual gamers, and it seems like that has influenced the company more and more, every year since then.

It's been a slow decline, but lately, they just seem like another EA or Activision.

What sucks is that it seems like the talent is still there. Just a bit of Nintendo management and oversight brought us one of the most delightful surprises of the generation in Mario + Rabbids. If they were to stop designing by comittee, and pumping out boring open world after boring open world just for marketing, and actually get some spark and creative joy back in their products, who knows what they'd be capable of?

I think you hit the nail on the head, Assassin's Creed catapulted Ubisoft into the big time so now big open games has become their main focus.

Update: Mail arrived. I was wrong. It is 26 feet.

Why is that one panel of the floor in a darker shade of brown than the rest?

Fuck Mario Galaxy is amazing
I'm around 30 stars in now and it's actually getting kinda challenging.
Personally I prefer this style to Mario Odyssey.

Mario Galaxy 3 or Odyssey 2 next - which one would you pick?

Preferably both. I am a greedy fuck. But for the starving children in Africa, I am willing to make a sacrifice. So I'd choose Galaxy 3.

Odyssey 2 all day. The Galaxy games are good for what they are, but can't hold a candle to Odyssey or 3D World.

Fight me.

Two problems.

1. This is about 13 feet too long.
2. I have to stand up and walk over to the Switch to adjust the volume.

Edit: If you hold the home button there is a volume slider. Perfect.

Amen Brother. It's Christmas season so I should be generous but fuck it, let the African's starve and give me Mario Galaxy 3

Interesting....
How about 3D World 2 vs Odyssey 2?

I crave both types, but perfectly okay with them going back and forth between them.

This is just an extension for headphones, right? Can't you use your remote for volume?

I use a 10 ft extension myself.

Too hard to choose between them, but I'd probably go 3DW just because that's older.

When I first saw it I was disgusted (HunterHearstHelmsley.gif), but when I actually played it, it was the best Mario experience since SMW on the SNES. Criminally underrated game. I know we all have our own personal favourites, and I could go on about it for days, but it really captured me at a time I was falling out of love with gaming for good. I'd been on a near two year gaming hiatus before I finally got a Wii U in 2014. SM3DW was the game that made me think "yeah, this is probably the best hobby" and got me back into forums and the gaming community as a whole. It's a special baby for me.

I've played 3D Land (my favourite Mario game) but not 3D World and have been patiently waiting for 3D World to arrive on Switch.
Easily my most anticipated game of 2021 at present.

If you've never played it, you're in for a treat. Invest in some good headphones or a good sound system.

Yeah. I was little ambitious... On the bright side I can hear my Switch in the next county over.

I really just need to find a wireless headset that works with the Switch, PS, and Xbox with minimal fuss.
YOU KNOW the Vita lets you use bt hedphones :). Again why do you need to run a long wire to your switch in portable mode again?

3DW on an emulator made me realise I needed Nintendo in my life.

Look, there will be a place for you in the new world. If you admit Fire Emblem is a really unpolished dating/tea party simulator for weebs, dragging the mutilated, now casual friendly corpse of classic Fire Emblem battles behind it, in an attempt to excuse itself for its misdeeds.

This is all I ask, my child.
The old Fire Emblem died a long time ago because nobody bought it. The newest game is literally a re-imagening of Genealogy with some very retarded bad guys with great music and decent characters. All the stuff you shunned is optional as well. You do more weeb stuff over at Animal Crossing LMAO.

Vita ded tho

Yeh, a dead portable released in 2012 has more features than the newest Nintendo console.

(I was chatting with ppl for FREE earlier on me Vita. :) I hope one day Nintendo will also let me chat and msg ppl my shitposts)

I think you will NEVER see a direct messaging or chat app on a Nintendo console again after what happened with the 3DS Letterbox incident though. And what will we do with all these 50ft cables if Nintendo lets you use bluetooth headphones?

I mean I always play my switch docked :)

Galaxy 3. By far. Odyssey is the only 3D Mario game I'll never revisit I don't think.

Isn't docked mode exactly why he needs the cable? Maybe he wraps it around himself to function as sort of a Kensington lock to prevent theft.
Exactly. All I want is a 3.5mm port on the Pro Controller like on Xbox/PS.

@SLoWMoTIoN I've seriously been looking at Vitas lately. I don't know why but I kind of have an itch to buy one.

Btw I'd be happy with Galaxy 3, Odyssey 2 or 3D Land/World sequels. They're all sexy as fuck.

Do it if you like handheld gaming, the games still hold up very well.
I whipped it out the other day (My Vita you doofuses) to see if it works and I fell in love with it again
Vita means life
it a really well made system with beautiful OLED screen.

Just saw a mobile ad that was clearly a video of Luigi in New Super Mario Bros Wii U and then it went to some ugly title screen of something call Super Bob's World or something. How do these idiots get away with this shit?

I literally just downgraded one the other day to 3.60 and enso'd it. Took 20 minutes.

Also can't you just use your tv's bluetooth feature for audio? Your amp/receiver/seperate?

I might jump in after Christmas. PSTV is another option as well.

Wired headphone gang here. Only wireless headphones I own are AirPods.

When they were cheap everyone was laughing at me and my Singapore imports...

Plug em to your separate/receiver then! (if you are already doing this disregard cock)

Bruh wtf.
I aim to make things as complicated as possible.

I'm on a smaller temporary setup right now so no receiver. Using headphones to avoid TV speakers. I use Senheiser 598s w/ a mod mic on my PS and Xbox right now via the controller. Planning to move next summer so I'll upgrade my TV and get a new receiver then. Hopefully they'll have HDMI 2.1 sorted out by then.

AirPods are great for quick phone calls occasionally listening to music while I workout but thats all I use them for...perhaps it's time to some good wireless headphones. Wish I could use the same setup for every console.

Yeah you'd figure at this point they would let you use your BT if you wanted to. But hey, every new tv worth a damn has that option. There is also toslink out in case you decide to go the amp route when you move to your new place.
