Edit: Since the quoted pictures are poorly organised and give the wrong impression of who he's replying to, he's not saying "yes" to the person who asked if it would cause Bayo2 level meltdowns. He's saying "yes" to the person asking if it's from a Japanese publisher. He says it will not cause meltdowns as big as Bayo2, and it's not an existing IP.

Rough translations:

Original: I was just made confident of a Wii U exclusive from a third party publisher, to be released in 2014!

Q1: Since you're in Japan, is it a Japanese publisher?
A: Yes.

To Gameblog user: It'll be great! In the vein of a bayo but new license ;)

Q2: Wait, is this going to cause the same hell that Bayonetta did when it was announced?
A: Not as heavy.

Yeah, not really buying it. Esoecially considering he explicitly says it is third party which means Nintendo isn't publishing in which case lol Wii U exclusive.

quickly, let's begin the guess game

3rd party IP that wouldn't find a publisher cause it sold badly on its last iteration but has fantastic gameplay that wowed Iwata and Miyamoto. Something that has be be sellable in the west (sorry, JRPG fans). Something that has never appear on a nintendo home console.

and the series is:

_____________________________

EDIT: wait... 3rd party PUBLISHER?? not published by nintendo? rumor is BS until the game is not only announced but released in stores and my hands touch the damn plastic case.

Why should we trust this source? Who is he?

All I'll say is that I'll believe it when I see it. If it's true it's undoubtedly a Nintendo-style family game like Disney Infinity or Skylanders or something. I can't see a big 3rd party creating an exclusive FPS for Wii U.

Not a surprise. Nintendo has to support the system and they've been known to pay for games like this. Lego City, W101, B2 etc

I'll just repost this here:

The idea of Nintendo rescuing Devil's Third like they did with Bayonetta 2 isn't out of the question, but that would be hugely disappointing if it happened. Don't get me wrong, it would be another case of I'm happy it released at all, but if online is the focus then on the WiiU it would not only be sent to die, it would be difficult to find games shortly after release due to lack of install base.

A violent online multiplayer game would be a bad fit for the platform.

I want to say Devil's Third, but wonder which company picked up the game. I'm thinking more something from Tecmo-Koei or maybe Capcom.

Best case scenario is the game loses its online-focus :).

Okay what big name franchise would cause an uproar if it became a Wii U exclusive? So far I can think of Yakuza or Persona but that's very unlikely.

I guess the bigger question is does this franchise actually has a chance of getting localized?

"One last question: Is there a chance that the anti-Nintendo rage from the announcement will surpass that of the Bayo 2 one?"

"Yes" <-- not a response to the guy that made the above question.

Oh wow, Iwata stealing our games again because they can't come up with anything new other than Blario und Blelda, what a new low

Will boycott even if it turns out to be Shenmue 3, will not support these Baka Gaijin-hating devils from Kyoto

I would be very surprised if it was Yakuza or Persona, as you say either of them are unlikely.

I don't see why it would be Devil's Third. Isn't that game a online heavy game? Seems like a weird game to pick up for Nintendo.

Honestly, as beloved as Bayo is, the uproar was mostly contained to a handful of hardcore franchise fans who weren't planning on getting a Wii-U- how many gamers is that in the grand scheme of things? All you need is a bigger IP than Bayo- and that's not that hard to find- to get a bigger uproar.

In the Vein of Bayo means 1 of two things. It is a game like Bayonetta or it is a dead franchise that is being revitalized due to funding from nintendo...

If its the latter, what are some dead (but likely sought after) third party licenses that Nintendo would consider funding for a Wii U release?

Wait didn't he tweet that Nintendo picke up the publishing rights? People were talking about it in the WiiU Games 2013 thread.

Better than no online matches if they took the feature out or the game isn't released at all.
Would you rather it lived AT ALL before it died, or have it remain stillborn?
It's very counter-productive to say you want it but hate the conditions of such a circumstance that allows you to have it. Just like it has been for people pulling the same shit in Bayo2 threads.
