dot-Nick said:I've been thinking about this a lot, but... what is the Gamecube going to be known for? Don't get me wrong, I love the console as much as the next guy, but there isn't ONE game (other than Animal Crossing) that stands out in my mind as mind blowing. One can argue that the Xbox was "The Halo Machine" or that Ps2 had stuff like GTA and GT4, but the GCN... ? Resident Evil 4? Super Mario Sunshine? I loved both of those games, but I really think the GCN is going to be the least memorable console Nintendo has put out since the Virtual Boy. :-(
I believe that opinions like yours are more a result of the gamer deciding they no longer like a certain type of videogame, therefore they didn't enjoy the Cube as much as others might have.
For me the Cube has a slew of amazing games that I will remember forever.
Super Mario Sunshine--maybe not better than Mario 64 but damn close IMO.
Zelda: Wind Waker--maybe not better than Ocarina but again, really good. Not to mention there is another amazing Zelda on the way this year.
Mario Kart Double Dash--regardless of what people say, I loved this game. The two drivers per cart is a brilliant idea IMO.
Metroid Prime--These games were freaking amazing. Especially the first one. How can anyone argue with that? Possibly some of the best games this gen.
Waverace: Blue Storm--maybe not quite as good as the first Waverace, but I think it's about equal and that puts it among the best racers ever made for me.
Beach Spikers--brilliant arcade volleyball game. Sports game don't get much more fun than this. Also a Gamecube exclusive.
Pikman--awesome puzzle/strategy game that many people have great love for.
Star Wars--Rouge Leader and Rebel Strike. Awesome Star Wars arcade shooter action.
Then you have the Mario sports games, while none are mindblowing, all are very good.
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes---fantastic port of one of the greatest games of all time. The best version of the game we'll likely ever see. It's a Gamecube exclusive.
Ikaruga--Awesome Treasure shooter that was only released on the Dreamcast and the Cube.
Battalion Wars--a very cool action/strategy game that is unique to Gamecube.
I could list more, but no matter how you cut it, I don't know how people can say the Cube doesnt' have a nice software library.
