I'm mildly surprised that - other than the brief pompadour graphic which seems like a one-off - these horses aren't festooned with hats and other nonsense.

I remember when I was a child I use to let the people in my family and my friends families play the slots in Red and Blue, they loved it. Would never play the actual game much, but they would keep asking for Game Boy and my spare so they could play it, despite me purchasing a slot game for them (it went unused).

But yeah, I loved the casinos.

I have an irrational hatred for casinos in Pokemon since once, I was playing to get coins for a certain prize in Crystal. I managed to get that amount after a few days, but as I went out I found that I somehow triggered a huge glitch that affected my entire save file.

Actually, this looks like Rhythm Heaven. Well, the characters.

Is there any video yet? 5 dollars seems kind of steep for this type of game.

So apparently they used a game/genre crossover generator.

Some other of the generator's suggestions they considered:

tennis x tower defense
Texas Hold'em x hack'n'slash
first-person shooter x Ball-in-a-Cup
Pinball x survival horror
crossword x rhythm game
sim management x Twister

Looks like a throw away mobile title. Doubt this would gather attention if it wasn't Gamefreak doing it.

Yeah I honestly preferred Battle X than the casinos. Don't like them holding Pokemon and TMs. At least Battle X's are easier to manage.

I want to know how the development of this game started, and who's designing it, etc.. Sadly, with it being self-published and only $5, there probably won't be an Iwata Asks like for HarmoKnight. That was a very interesting read.

Where did you find this?

Just buy the chips.

I don't know, it seems like an interesting mix between two types of games. I'll keep an eye on it.
Also, I couldn't buy the chips since I didn't have enough money since it was the most expensive prize.

Yea, not a fan of casinos in games. At least don't lock stuff behind them.

That may be so, but as you said, Game Freak's track record speaks for itself. Even if it looks like a generic mobile game, the execution could in all likelihood be anything but.

I don't like solitaire nor horse racing, though. That may be why I'm not excited for this.

Yeah, I said it looks like a throw away game. I do believe the game will have a certain quality to it, but still, solitaire doesn't excite me.

Well yes, this is part of their small projects thing where teams of 3 people come up with a game. Their big resources are focused on X/Y right now.

Right. Game Freak is now over 90 people, using 3 people (or so) to make a game like this, or Harmo Knight is not going to break the bank, especially if it fills a creative need for the staff.

Love Game Freak's desire to diversify and to make some quirky, unique, and fun titles.

I'll definitely pick this up if it comes over to the US eShop. :)
