So, E3 has come and gone. Nintendo didn't make a surprise announcement on Treehouse, as some had speculated. With MH World taking the spotlight, MH Stories already occupying the fall release window and without any promotional push for MH:XX for the West (which basically would require a release of both 3DS and Switch versions) in sight... is now the time to finally give up on it, then?

Man, I don't want to play this in Japanese.
I don't think anyone should give up. I think it's time to make our voices heard to Capcom and Nintendo that we want to see this game localized.

Just keeping tweeting at them and Nintendo about wanting the game. All we can do. And if it means that much to you you can tell them you aint buying their games until they localize XX. I'm finished with the franchise til this is localized.

But otherwise, get ready to do a bunch of low rank bullshit again 🙄

I agree with you but at the same time I absolutely hate the fact that it's 2017 and we still have to pray, beg and plead with a company like Capcom in order for them to localize an updated version to an already localized game, a game that is now being released on a hot new console no less that is owned by many of the same customers who played through multiple 3DS releases hoping for a Nintendo console version.

It makes no sense to me for a company to release a game in certain territories in order to build a user base to then slap that user base in the face for being invested in said game when they announce an updated version that is kept hostage in Japan all of a sudden. Just like with the AA series and the recent GAA games, these kind of practices make me not want to follow such a series at all anymore since they become far less valuable and interesting to me as soon as some of the games are being kept away from me. If a company with a worldwide userbase like Capcom is unwilling to go all out with localization, maybe they shouldn't bother bringing any game over or - even better - they should stop making games that are unsuitable for a worldwide market and can only be released in Japan (like with the baffling decision to release yet another GAA game that won't make it to fans here, thereby ignoring the fact that the first unlocalized game was already a low blow...).

The tegra X3 will have 512 gpu cores. For reference, Switch, with x1, has 256.

Tell me more how it'd be impossible to get a MH:W running on the x3.
Jesus dude, this is like your "can the switch even run gta5" bs. It's poor form trolling and isn't even relevant to XX, IE the topic at hand. Switch could run world if they wanted it to run world. Currently, they do not.

Agreed, not about to just re-do the 500+ hours of playtime I put into Generations and lose my charms. Hell, I had even downloaded the armour-set maker for XX was making sets using my Generations talismans. All of that was a waste, like tears in rain.

I'm gonna be tweeting at Capcom and NoA everyday, I hope everyone does the same. The same kind of effort for Xenoblade Chronicles localized.

Capcom is a shit tier company. News at 11. Their financials paint a clear picture about their incompetence.

Similar position. I wouldnt have even bought Generations if I knew the expansion wasnt coming. So no MH games for me period until they localize XX. And no Vanilla MH for me ever even if XX is localized because you cant trust this shit company.

Would have insta-bought XX over here in Germany.

I want a MH, but with a grindy game like that I also don't want to be forced to sit in front of my PS4. I want to have it on the go.

So, screw you for screwing me, Capcom. Could have made us both happy, now you didn't.

I mean assuming that the entirety of their inhouse localization team is working on the global release of MHW

Its clear why XX is on the back burner even though it would have been a smaller job

So either MHW is a really large game that they want to be sure to have ready by early 2018 or they really just dont want to spend any resources on XX at the moment

In this current setup XX would likely come AFTER MHW if at all

It's all part of Reggie's 'We'll support the 3DS through 2018 and beyond' plan :D

They could have outsourced the localization. They've known about XX since forever. This isn't about resources. XX is not being talked about because they want to make us buy shiny new MH instead. They arent going to release it

I started working through Kanji flashcards this morning.

I probably should have started this back in 2010.
OMG hahahaha!

Seriously everyone, thanks for the replies. I think Capcom will come around. *UNLESS* this is indeed locked behind the rumored American Capcom/Sony Monster Hunter deal?!

I don't think they will come around and localize this. By the time World is out development on a new MH from the XX team will probably have started. I think it's far more likely they'd focus on localizing that to keep the series going with worldwide launches than look backwards and localize XX.

It's already started. Capcom's Monster Hunter teams are really stretched right now.

Yeah, probably won't hear about it for a long time but they're not wasting any time. It's why I can't see XX getting localised unless Nintendo steps in. Capcom likely see's more value in getting World and the new Switch game out as they have more to gain from those than a quick and dirty XX localisation.

It would be nice if all the future MHs were WW releases, but I believe that Switch MH's would be aimed to Japan (which mean late localizations at best). The crow will be delicious otherwise.

Yeah, i mean i do expect new MH games to be made for Switch in the future, but the real question is : will Capcom pull a "We only have MHW aimed for the west" ? Resulting in them never localizing the MH Switch games ?

What I believe is that Capcom will want MHW to be their a game as a service franchise (something that I loathe) after SFV failed to grab the position. They know that Japan would reject that model for the franchise, so they will continue with a 'traditional' series there.

If that happens, I hope the traditional series stays Worldwide.

As others said, usual placeholder.

Well obviously, XXS is out in a bit more than a month (but in Japan only).
Until there's more details (position compared to W and XX, strategy for the west, etc), it's not really useful...

Capcom redeemed. Sorry I ever said anything about them.
They have a lot to do before being redeemed, be it about localization (XXS, AA, DDO...) or their fighting games (SFV, MvCI), amongst other things...
It would really help if they started having competent CM and PR guys.

That would certainly be a great way to kill the franchise in the West. It doesn't sound likely to me, but anything is possible.

Hopefully the West gets whatever new portable MH game they're working on (I'm gonna guess MHWP). Capcom really needs to start localizing each game with simultaneous releases if they ever want MH to really take off outside of Japan.

Agreed. There's no excuse not to do global launches for all future MH entries any longer.

It hasn't been that long. I figured it would still be in the planning stages.
Probably bodes well for it being not much more than a slightly cut down version of World, I'd think. I would expect it to have the seamless worlds and all of the other additions at the expense of lower res textures and decreased lighting effects.

Wishing a game would run on different hardware doesn't make it possible.

Even if that is the case and Switch gets Monster Hunter World Portable in Japan in early 2019; then what? Does it launch here day and date with a hypothetical Japanese version or do we have to wait another year for a localization? Will they even do a localization? Capcom can't be trusted to do anything right at this point and I'm tired of giving them money for disappointments.

Don't get me wrong, they still have a lot to prove after this current mess. How a company can be so allergic to easy money is truly remarkable.

This is dumb because I feel like most Switch owners would buy both but whatever. They have $ to gain from localizing XX. Can't imagine it wouldn't be worthwhile for someone to localize as the Switch is hot and there is a fan base there for these games.

Surely whatever Switch game they have will fall into the exact same trap as MHXX Switch. There's going to be MH World the next year which they need to release worldwide.

Sorry Monster Hunter fans. As an Ace Attorney fan I really feel for y'all.
It's not that bad. We're getting a simultaneous worldwide release for the next MH for the first time ever. After 13 years of either not getting localisations or having to wait 6-18 months for a localisation this is pretty damn huge for me.

If it releases the same year as Pokemon I cant only imagine the lines in Japan

You really need to stop trying to extend your own "out of the handheld ghetto", to use your own words, optimism to others to spare MHW/MH/Capcom of their due share of negativity for their own stupid ass decisions.

The more I hear about their current state of affairs, the more I think they are managed by the blind. MHW is something like a 4+ year project and they still seem very unpolished in areas and in a full sprint to make it for a launch before FY ends for Capcom. Meanwhile they're stretching their extended staff and team to a portable entry on top of it all. This is just bad management.

Just curious, what's giving you that impression on MHW? Announcing a global release for early 2018 on the first time showing doesn't scream "rushed" to me.

As a potential Switch owner and current 3DS owner, I completely understand the disappointment of MHXX not coming West. It's yet another dumbass move in a long line of dumbass moves with this franchise in the West.

Missing effects on attack or hit are some of the biggest that really stick out from what they've shown from a gameplay perspective, but the messaging itself also seems hurried (the post reveal PR rush to assuage concerns is evidence enough of a bad initial message). Some of the texture work is also really blurry on top of the overall look just looking somehow a tad unfinished.

The core framework is definitely finished (or at least looks like it is but they've only shown scripted things mostly) but there are things that make me think they haven't had as much time as they need to actually polish it all off. But who knows, maybe the demo their running is really old.

Now, I don't expect it to launch like the disaster that was SFV but I also wouldn't be surprised if it does get "rushed" to hit FY and have some early patchwork done to it.

Maybe they want to focus all attention on Monster Hunter World, which is their next mainline entry to the series in order to have a proper launch and marketing support early 2018. Monster Hunter hasn't been huge in the West at least from my experience since the PSP days and that was almost a decade ago. That too, mainly people asking about where to get the right ISO's for their PSP. They probably don't want too many titles coming out close by to confuse the mainstream as it's obvious they want it to blow up in the west.

They could definitely release XX in the west after World is out. I'm assuming Capcom said that likely because they think it might be too late and they have another Switch project in place. Or they just want everyone to focus on their next big entry for a proper introduction of the series to the largest install base for the series. Hell, maybe Switch could get a late port.

Best wishes.
