GBA gaming to the max...

Will NOT use his faux signature to promote random shit
I bought a GBmicro and a few games such as Minish cap (which I beat), Wario Ware inc, Mario & Luigi superstars (I beat this one too)

I love all three of those games, they made me love the GBA like no other system.

What other great GBA games would you recommend?
I'm not up to date with this while gaming thing so all suggestions are welcome.

Your post needs a GB Micro a few games in a faux-signature.

Oh and:

Wario Ware Twisted
Mario Vs Donkey Kong
Whichever Mario Advance games are Mario 3 and Mario World. (Get em cheap somewhere)
Metroid Zero Mission

Wario Ware Twisted would be a worthwhile purchase.

It would be a good idea to pick up the Castlevania Double Pack, too. It has Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance (both games which have gotten rare) on one cart. HoD isn't so great, but AoS is stellar.

Also, these games are rarities or highly sought after, and if you see them in a store you should snag them, because you're likely to pay less than they're worth:

NES Classics: Super Mario Bros.
Phantasy Star Collection
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Shining Soul
Shining Soul II
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis

Fire Emblem 1/2
Advance Wars 1/2
Castlevania double pack
River City Ransom
Astro Boy
Advance Guardian Heroes
Gunstar Super Heroes
Mario Kart
Final Fantasy 1+2/4
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (just don't expect a good storyline)
Metroid Zero Mission
Double Dragon

FIRE EMBLEM
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Riviera: The Promised Land
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Castlevania Double Pack (Aria of Sorrow + Harmony of Dissonance)
Final Fantasy IV Advance

NINJA FIVE-O! Or Ninja Cop, if you're in Euroland.

This game may be hard to find. Search, nonetheless!

A gaming life without Ninja Five-O is not a life worth living.

A short list of highly recommended games (in no particular order)

Astro Boy
Racing Gears Advance
Final Fantasy IV Advance
Metroid: Zero Mission
Advance Wars 2
Wario Ware Twisted

Thanks guys I'll definitely take a look at Emblem.

Ninja Five-O looks pretty sick! I think my friend has it, so I'll try it out at his place.

I couldn't find much on Kururin Paradise, all I got from a review was that it was a sequel to a spinning game of some sort....

Is there a game similar to Lumines on the GBA, I'm absolutely in love with Lumines and would prefer playing it on my micro...man it'd be awesome to take lumines everywhere with me....

Wario Ware twisted looks awesome, but I heard some people had trouble playing it on the micro, is that an issue?

Yeah, that's the game. You maneuver a rotating stick (helicopter) through a maze without dying (i.e. touching the walls of the maze). That is the whole game. Paradise's also got a bunch of minigames with completely different types of gameplay situations in addition to the regular Kururin mode to mix up the main mode a bit. Only released in Japan.

A couple of puzzle games aswell, I don't think any of these are particularly close to lumines, but worth looking into ; Boulder Dash EX, Chu Chu Rocket, Denki Blocks, DK King of Swing, Dr Mario / Panel de Pon, Gem Smashers, It's Mr Pants, Rampage Puzzle Attack, Tsuukin Hitofude.

I was late to the GBA too, but I started collecting about one year ago exactly with the release of Minish Cap.... I didn't notice it at first but this was actually one of the best systems of all time. Now I have:

-Castlevania Double Pack (each of these games is worth having a GBA for)

-Castelvania Circle of the Moon

-Final Fantasy IV Advance (Having real FF games in handheld form.... AWESOME. I have my black SP by my bed at all times and I treat it like a nighttime novel I play in small pieces at a time. Can't wait for V and VI Advance)

-Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (I love this game but not as much as my girlfriend does)

-Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land (remake of childhood favorite Kirby's Adventure for NES.... I couldn't resist, especially after the amazing Canvas Curse this year)

-Metroid Fusion (very high quality, but not the greatest of all games as you may have been led to believe. It's far more "Metroid II: Return of Samus" than it is "Super Metroid")

-Metroid Zero Mission (I think it's better than Fusion. The last chapter is very unique among Metroid games..... wouldn't mind seeing more stealth adventure sequences in Metroid. We should get a full on Metroid DS in 2D that is as good as Super Metroid and the Prime games).

-Sword of Mana (I think this is the only game I have that is not the best. I'm happy to own it as a Mana fan, but this one is just not up to snuff with SoM and SD3.... What Mana game of the last decade has been, though? Good luck with World of Mana, Square E.)

-Zelda: Minish Cap.

Golden sun looks incredible!!! I can't believe that its on a GBA!

I'll take a look at the puzzle games you listed Merrick, thanks a bunch.

golden sun looks great and was pretty enjoyable...though if you've played a lot of RPGs, it may be a bit generic.

If your GBA library doesn't contain:

Advance Wars (either 1 or 2)
Astro Boy
Castlevanias
Fire Emblem (both)
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Metroids

Then you might as well sell it because you hate games.

I also recently got a GB Micro

These things are awesome. Very awesome.

My rotation:

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Final Fantasy IV Advance
Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament
Pokemon Fire Red
Mario Tennis: Power Tour

Klonoa 2 good. Very good indeed. :D

Got me Emblem and so far it's awesome.

Could you recommend an exceptionaly good puzzler for the GBA?

I have a GBMicro question

If I am playing and my battery is nearing the low point, will the Start / Select buttons flash red? Since there is no indicator for battery life while it is on, except the minute that they are when you turn the machine on.

You are a good man.

I'd like to know this as well...Not an action puzzle game like Tetris but more of a strategy puzzle game where you can plan your moves out in advance.

Castlevania Doublepak is a good buy if you can get it though you will find yourself dissappointed that Harmony of Dissonece is nowhere near as good as Aria of Sorrow.

I don't think so. It just shuts down IIRC.

Chu Chu Rocket?

Yeah!

I'd recommend something like Advance WArs 1/2, but seeing as it's nearly the perfect handheld game, it's dead obvious.

Actually, I play the puzzle mode of Chu Chu Rocket more than the main mode. It has all of the puzzles created from online users for a total of 2000+ puzzles. God forbid I everfinish them all. Great game.

I also wish to get a Su Doku Advance game. Surely, there must be one coming!

You're not really suggesting he should buy those rubbish games, are you? The Shining Soul series are really a bad excuses for a game.

I'd go with Golden Sun, Metroid Fusion, a Pokemon game, a Final Fantasy port and/or Riviera. Those games just rock the roof off... :)

You managed to call Shining Soul rubbish and then proceed to recommend Riviera in the same post.

NICE-

But wrong.

Riviera sucks. And Shining Soul. The rest is cool, though.

Buy both Fire Emblems.

And when you're done, buy a Gamecube and Fire Emblem PoR.

Riviera was a neat little distraction (I actually played it one-handed since I'd broken my right arm at the time). Can't recommend you make a purchase on it though.

Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion are both great buys though. So check out those as well.

If you have to get a shining soul, get II. It's a neat little dungeon crawler along the lines of diablo/pso. Meanwhile I loved Riviera, but it really seems like a hit/miss game for everyone else out there.

One Fire Emblem should be more than enough, both Fire Embles on the GBA are quite the same. If you buy one and beat it twice, it will be the same experience as buying both games and beat them both once.

Don't get me wrong, the Fire Emblem series is fun to play and easy to pick up. But they never add something to the gameplay, or it has to be those minor changes. Besides of that, not everybody likes the gameplay, some might say it's a little bit outdated.

I say; rent first, if you really love it you can always purchase the game after that.

But no one here thinks you have good taste in games. And that's what matters.

:lol

Hmm, after seeing all of these Late to the party GBA threads I've been thinking about finishing off my collection. I have most of the games mentioned apart from Astro Boy, Riviera, Ninja Five-O/Cop and Final Fantasy IV. Is it worth buying all of these games?

Just Final Fantasy should be fine. The rest are easily forgettable and will only drag you down in the long run.
