Sorry if you weren't excited by a brand new IP from naughty dog, but most people were. Battle Royale was an announcement we all knew was coming so it wasn't much of a surprise
A game you will never believe and all that crap? Yeah cos it's so hard to fathom Sony first party putting out a zombie survival game -_-
he feels like some marketing tool at the best.
Well....that is his job.
Man, some people are really never satisfied. The Last of Us reveal delivered and so did Playstation All Stars. What games were hyped up by Keighley and turned out to be crap?
The Last of Us? Sorry, but I REALLY didn't think The Last of Us was worth all the hype put behind it and I still think it'll be a good game, but come on seriously? A game you will never believe and all that crap? Yeah cos it's so hard to fathom Sony first party putting out a zombie survival game -_-
You're shitting me right? That game was known months before it got 'announced'.
We haven't even seen gameplay yet!![]()
He was hyping it because of the studio behind it. ND is one of the biggest studios in gaming right now and they'd just released a game a month before. No one was even speculating that the game was going to be from them.
Everyone whose seen gameplay said it looks much more intuitive, deeper and well rounded than their UC games.I have utmost confidence in Naughty Dog.
Revealing a new game from Naughty Dog is a pretty big deal yes. It isn't however, "ZOMG you won't believe this new game, it's all sorts of incredible and you're eyes won't even believe what they're seeing!!"
*cue trailer of an in-game cutscene* -_-
By your definition, I'm not sure what game would warrant the hype that Keighley gave. Gears of War 4? Halo 5? GTA6? FF14?
pretty much yes, by what he was doing I was expecting nothing short of Half Life 3 or a new GTA or something else that would be seen as massive. I remember people were even speculating company crossovers of games cos of how much he had hyped this into something that was apparently "unbelievable".
Yeah, I got over the whole Geoff Keighley hype train crap after The Last of Us.

:| so basically you want a known IP with the same gameplay we've seen 2+ times (depending on the franchise). I see.
So, earlier you dismissed a new IP from one of the top devs in the industry by saying "Yeah cos it's so hard to fathom Sony first party putting out a zombie survival game", but the hype would've been justified by a company announcing another sequel?

somebody's making Chubby Rain: The Game
finally
You can lambast that all you want but this is the games industry here and nothing but that sort of thing justifies that kind of hype like established blockbuster IP.
US$1million says it's Zelda.

Has Nirolak made any predictions yet? He's been right on the last 2 counts, has he not?
What the hell is the point of announcing something like this for anything other than personal attention?
"There's a top secret game in development" - There are probably loads of top secret games in development that we're already all speculating about without somebody having to tell us "there's a top secret game in development".
This announcement makes no difference whatsoever. There will probably be 5 or 10 games announced in the next couple of months that fit this description and we won't ever know any better. I hate this crap from "journalists".
Yes, we all know established IP carry far more weight in this industry than actual studio cred does unfortunately.
What the hell is the point of announcing something like this for anything other than personal attention?
And really why does it bother you so much? You can just ignore him
Getting attention is the point. They want people to tune in to see the secret revealed.
To generate hype for the show/channel he works with so it can get attention?
And as evidenced by this thread (or any GAF thread with Geoff hype) he tends to do a good job.

And will I believe it?i wonder if it will be EXCLUSIVE
Why are you say "unfortunately" when you're supporting that line of thinking?
I don't support that line of thinking at all, but it would come closer to justifying keighley's hype than what he ultimately delivered.
Bungie's new game!
Since that a rumour is already circulating, we would see that coming.Something no one will see coming......That Starfox/Metroid rumor sounds too ridiculous not to be true......
