Ghost of Yōtei - Firearms Gameplay | PS5 Games

What on earth has gone on with this game graphically, it looks so basic and flat at times, arguably even worse than its predecessor in places.

Budget is possibly lower than most Sony AAA games released in the past few years.

I mean, GAF was complaining about Sony games budgets being too high, most people would be happy now right, Right?

People would be happy with 50$ price on this. If this is AA game is should cost like AA game.

Can the enemies even draw their weapons? Stay tuned.

I enjoy a mindless hack and slash massacre as much as the next guy, but these trailers are not great. I would still play this after a few discounts.
Agreed, the weapon trailers are a huge turnoff. Makes the game look extremely dull.

This is a legendary clip, but do you know the backstory to it? They were filming somewhere in North Africa (Tunisia, I think? But that doesn't matter), and the local food just did sit right with Harrison Ford. There was supposed to be an elaborately choreographed fight scene, but he had severe diarrhea, so he just adlibbed the whole thing on set. As a result, we have one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.

The enemies does nothing at all, what's even the point with these trailers, all they do is making me less interested

Ill give this game a chance, but, just don't give us trans lecturing, binary characters, misuse of pronoun stuff or any of that woke twisted gender ideology crap.

If its as good as the first one then its going to be a fun game. Having said that Im waiting for this one to hit Steam. I enjoyed GOT way more with k&m than controller.

looks really underwhelming, first ds2 now this (and yotei looks defenitly worse than even ds2), what happened
Can't tell if it's a case of "needed more.." money, time or both...or better/different direction.

The first game put a lot of emphasis on patience and intentional consequential combat with hints of stealth. This almost looks like it's trying to be a poor man's Sekiro, with its constant switching of weapons, faster attacking and taking on multiple enemies in a matter of seconds. That's nothing like how the first game viewed its combat philosophy.

Fuck yeah, looks amazing! I love the way she rests the sword on her shoulder. Animations are on point and I'm loving the dismemberment and blood spray. Day 1 while the haters are spending the same amount of money on a remaster of MGS. lul

Nah. It will be exactly like the first game. This is some marketing intern kid trying to flex their cool moves at lowest difficulty and appeal to the younger audience that can't maintain attention on a single thing for more than 5 seconds. If anything, after the game is out, people will complain about it being too similar to the first. The animation system isn't even designed for this type of character and camera movement. You can see all the seams and shortcomings. It's almost like the character is glitching as the player is rapidly cycling through weapons to get to the next scripted moment. Sometimes they even pick the wrong weapon and immediately change again, like they forgot what they were going to do next. None of it would be this conspicuous on a normal, unrehearsed play through.

Yea that's why I say it almost looks like it. Like how you said the weapon switching is way too fast. No transition animation or anything...and then how (seemingly) easy it is to defeat enemies...like a hack n slash almost. The first game made you slow down and anticipate enemy movements and either dodge, parry or attack. This doesn't look like it has any of that slower, more strategic combat gameplay. At least not from what they have shown so far. Say you are correct, Why would SP even allow/want to promote the game like this?

We might not even be the target audience for this. This is perfect TikTok fodder. It's all over youtube shorts, sliced even further into tiny snippets.

It's not even encoded well. Heavily compressed, 30 fps footage in 60 fps containers. Micro details, if there are any at all, are all mush

I had done a gif comparison recently of a spot in the game as I noticed they added a waterfall. But the old version was 4k30 encoding and the new one was 4k 60 encoding. You could see how blurry the same brown foliage ahead is in their newer footage. Just heavy compression to accommodate double the frame rate. The source itself is 30 fps in both cases.

These weapon showcases are much worse in bit rate. No idea who approves this stuff. May be because these are being put out so frequently, it doesn't even go through the same channels.

Most people outside of us enthusiasts probably don't care. It's all just about engagement numbers these days.

Combat looks terrible. Boring slop of finishing moves that will look cool at first and grow old by the end of the first hour. Every trailer makes me less and less interested in the game. Do the enemies even have an AI or will they always meander around waiting to be killed?

Graphics looks super last gen, and people thought this was gonna top Shadows which they will appreciate once comparisons are out.

Like, I'm one of the biggest GoT fans there is. I've put hundreds of hours in it, played it through many times with hardest difficulty etc... and I just can't get excited for this. Only thing that has wowed me at this point is the music.

I'm just so disappointed in everything from animations to overall design. They didn't manage to add even ragdoll physics which is now confirmed in this latest trailer.

Guns ruin these kinds of games imo. Melee with a light sprinkling of bow is where it's at. But I guess this is what happens when you jump your series hundreds of years into the future.

This camp looks like a cardboard film set decoration, how flat it is, the super gamey new clean flags all over and the torches… the absolutely unnatural lightning only adds to it. The fact they are releasing this as a flagship first party title in 2025 is outrageous.

Sony gave up with pushing the envelope.

It was already pretty clear when they trolled us with the we believe in generations before sacrificing the sequels of their best scoring game of last gen and best new ip from past gen to the altar of crossgens for greed, then the supposedly full nextgen games came out and well...

They have fanboys inside forums and df trying to convince people of the opposite, but working eyes never lies.

Sony is just preparing you all for next gen with their portable Series sadge. I for one, am glad I'm not a graphics whore. I love good graphics, but I think this looks like pure fun and I care about that way more.

Lol!

Love the dramatic slowdown… into awkward faffing about stuffing the bearing into the rifle barrel… into real time aim and shoot.

It's like they wanted to make riflery dramatic but fucked it all up and added the dramatic tension to entirely the wrong part of the animation flow.

Other than that, it's Sucker Punch and Ghosts so I will buy.

*uck the haters…

If this was a Switch 2 game it'd be hailed as the best game of all time lol.

Jk, at the least it was a much better showing than their previous stuff.

Not to derail the thread, but what's the general consensus on Rise of the Ronin? It's on sale ATM, and honestly is enticing me more than this and Shadows. Not sure what it is tbh.

It's going to be dripping with it, the entire point of the game is to enrage all the chuds into an utter frenzy so they can talk even more about their favourite subjects.
If I were you, I'd pretend the game doesn't exist and just move on.
I mean, that's what makes sense, no? If games are of no interest because twistedcucktransdeiwhatever, then why waste all that energy talking about them, better to vote with your wallet and play proper butchHeteroman games instead.
It's the way forward.

Looks like utter crap. Plus they have 0 dollars for marketing. Wtf are these clips?

The dog at the end doing an instant 90 degree turn was awful. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

What the fuck have these guys done for 5 years? Did that mountain from the poster took years to create? Embarrassing.

Depends on how it runs.
If it runs at around native 1440p and 60fps on a base PS5 then I'm perfectly happy with these visuals.
If it's some sub 1080p FSR smearfest with frequent framerate drops then that sucks.

Visually it looks fine, these games are more about the cool vistas and environments than the up close detail (which, admittedly, makes it weird for them to make zoomed in trailers)

Either way, the main reason I'm not excited for this is that it looks like another "more of the same but with 20% more bossgirl energy" sequel by Sony, and I didn't really love the first game to begin with.

I'm playing it just now, technically it has some shortcomings with pop-in, frame rate drops etc. but the combat is solid, it feels less slick that GoT but had more variety.
