The cartel-controlled open world of Bolivia will be receiving visitors early next month during the Closed Beta for Ghost Recon Wildlands. From February 3-6, aspiring Ghosts and their co-op partners will infiltrate the province of Itacua where they can work towards dismantling the Santa Blanca cartel in any way they choose. Players will be able to travel solo or team up with up to three friends in co-op as they take advantage of the wide variety of vehicles, weapons, and equipment available to the Ghosts.

The closed beta will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with pre-loading beginning on February 1. Those interested can sign up for a chance to participate at the official website. To learn more about the open world of Bolivia and the premiere of the live-action War Within the Cartel video.

Gamespot confirmed there is bullet drop on snipers at least.

Does it matter? Is there enough drawing distance for you being able to take shots further out than 200 meter? I genuinely don't know how robust Wildlands engine is in that aspect.

I can't wait.

I'm an idiot and would have been able to play this back in October when I got invited to the closed beta.

and didn't notice the email until a month after it passed.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I'm a massive critic of this game... but will try the beta with an open mind, if I get in.

I find this game to be so overwhelming with all that customizations and that open-world map, but somehow I'm still really interested...

I guess I'll see if I get into the Beta!

Do we know when codes are supposed to start going out?

Does nothing for me. The shooting looks incredibly weak. The story (bad cartel took over our country, now the great american ghosts come to save us) does nothing for me / makes me cringe if anything. The game just lacks character from what I've seen. But I'll still try the beta and see if maybe I'm wrong.

Skill Up has a video showing off all of the character customization. I think he's the only one that was able to record it. It looks good. Definitely better than what was offered in The Division.

First and last paragraphs from the eurogamer preview:

If you had any expectations that Ghost Recon Wildlands would play anything like its predecessors in the tactical shooter series, it's probably best to put them to one side. This is a very different take on the formula.

It's all a bit faceless, an accusation which can be placed at much of Ghost Recon Wildlands. Wildlands can be great with your mates, a kind of co-op Just Cause with just enough strategy sprinkled in to give it its own special thrill. It's little less impressive on your own, where the open world doesn't quite captivate enough and where the AI always seems like more of a hindrance than a help. As a Ghost Recon game, however, this looks like it's in danger of falling short.

Next week. Preload on February 1st.

Looks like the Division 2.0 sadly though because the faces are still preselected models but with a little more add ons like body tattoos etc.

Signed up for beta. Loved the previous games but unsure if this one. I don't like the ugly HUD elements such as the yellow and red markers, plus some designs for Ads on rifles. Beta should help me out with deciding.

Is it just me that finds this game graphics kinda so-so? The open world doesnt look interesting at all to explore.

I mean, division had kinda the same problem. Once you did the round of the city, it wasnt interesting anymore. Now they just replaced cities with trees which is arguably even less interesting.

I dunno about this one.

I'd rather it come later and be great than not come at all or be shit at launch.

I'd rather them focus on a pvp tactical shooter, then add in co-op later on.

All we're gonna get is broken down pieces of the open world map with no thought on whether its gonna be good or not.

Super salty right now.

Or the other option that is not lowering your standards and instead expecting a full product working at launch.

Did they announce PVP as a core part of the product back at reveal?

Anyway, my standards are met. I don't really care. Co-op is what matters to me here. And I've been playing Ghost Recon since the first game.

Good project management is to include everything at launch and have the product ready. The beef now is that AAA games are complex to an unprecedented extent and need untold numbers of man hours, especially when delivering on time and to QA standards. Must be literally millions of man hours at this point, with software this complex. Not every studio has the budget to make that happen all at once while meeting publisher/stakeholder deadlines.

I'd rather them focus on a pvp tactical shooter, then add in co-op later on.

If you were stoked for PVP it's definitely a bummer. I've been in for this based on coop MGSV-lite so I'm happy.

Never heard anyone talk about PvP but I'd rather they add it in later in BR form than just open world PvP out of nowhere.

Hopefully I will be able to get some time in with the beta, as I will be busy moving the first of the month. It is looking rather excellent.
