On the topic of gaming coverage Giant Bomb have fallen into the realm of extreme laziness mostly due to thi COVID era but also a combination of half of them being too old and out of touch and the new hires being too in touch with current trends.

Problem is the fanbase is old and don't care about current trends so much and also haven't burnt out like Gertsmann and co...

Just did a check up on Giantbomb.com to see if they went under yet but no such luck lol (disclaimer: used to be a sub back in the good ol' days, really started to follow them right around the Deadly Premonition Endurance Runs). But then again at least they are getting rid of Abby it seems? I popped into this thread to see what's what and happened upon your post.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who realized this; the fact that they are lazy as fuck. I used to watch almost everything GB put out, from the podcats to mailbags, UPF and everything in between. But then a little over two years ago I realized that they were getting extremely complacent to the point of wondering why I'd even visit the website anymore let alone give them my hard earned cash. Brad was always spouting off the biggest nonsense (like straight up fiction with regards to news, games, mechanics), podcasts were also dry as fuck because of zero prep work (especially when Easy Allies stepped into the scene), Jeff couldn't stop himself from being the self-indulgent cynic 24/7, Vinny left for NY, etc. The only one who brought any refreshing content to the table 'near the end' was Dan but he has since fucked off as well (which was also the final nail in the coffin for me).

It's such a shame Giantbomb went the way it did, they really had something good going there for a while. Now they're just a relic and it's honestly surprising to me that they're still up and running even. That niche audience must be shelling out big time I guess.

That's what I loved about Easy Allies so much and their "Corrections" bit during podcasts; never afraid to give themselves a slap on the wrist for getting stuff wrong. Kyle Bosman even going so far as to fact-check things during a podcast (or call people out on the spot) as he knows they've got a big audience and one they also serve to inform on occasion about the going-ons in the vidyagaem business. I felt more entertained and informed by the hour long EZA podcast than the god-knows-how-long-the-main-GB-snooze-inducing-excuse-of-a-podcast lasted, Christ alive half the time I was just glad it was over lmao.

It always surprised me during podcasts when Brad or whomever had no clue what a certain title was when they were talking about the news, making me want to scream at my screen lol. I'm like dude how much effort is it to go to youtube and check some of the latest trailers or announcements, before you talk to others about this industry? It's kind of part of your job description no? Literally the bare minimum amount of effort required for that even. Baffling stuff really.
