Anyone with experience with infinity engine mods can you possibly help me?

I try to use widescreen mods on Icewind Dale, and PST, and get letter boxing in 1280 x 720/800 res. But If I use a lower res or a higher res like a 1600 variance Its full screen.

Is this intended? I dont remember this happening last time.

Isn't it based on the native resolution of your monitor? For me, all the resolution issues with the mod stemmed from Aspect Ratio for my 980M, deselecting that fixed my issues and allowed me to play at 1280/720.

If you're talking about in-game stuff, it definitely should be using the full screen (iirc, the menus appear letter boxed, with the game visible behind them). I'm not sure how to help you, because I've never had an issue with the widescreen mod... it's always worked perfectly for me on any of the IE games. I assume you've tried re-running it, and possibly even hunting down a different version of it? Could also try reinstalling the game to a new folder, and using no mods other than the widescreen one, just to make sure it is actually the widescreen mod that's not working, and not some other mod you may be installing with it.

Alternatively you could always just use the EEs, heh. Things have gotten better for those versions from release, and they do look a little nicer in the way they scale the text and can zoom in and out.

Looks like a new publisher is stealthily coming: Warner Bros. So a bunch of games from them today: FEAR, Mortal Kombat, Bastion, and a bunch of Lego games. Except MK, they all also got 50-60% release discount.

Edit: I guess that includes Midway properties too. Is there any good old Midway games on PC? Except MK, I can't think of any.

Warner Bros. seems like a pretty big deal. That would mean the Batman games could potentially be on GOG, right?

Maybe someone should make a thread.

I just checked the front page and saw the new stuff and choked on my water because i was surprised

did wb publish transistor too?
The Steam page lists Supergiant Games as the publisher for Transistor. I'm a bit disappointed though that GOG doesn't have the Linux version of Bastion.

There's a new release today: Paranautical Activity Deluxe Atonement Edition, on Linux, Mac, and Windows.
Also re-release of Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and Guilty Gear Isuka, both Mac and Windows only.

And they are having a Valentine's sale. Bit sad that again for Trine and To The Moon Steam has Linux and Mac versions, while GOG has only the Windows version. Does anyone know why that is? Are the licences negotiated separately for each version?

#26
I'm not sure, I think the developer has to specifically send the linux version to them but lately i've been noticing that different studios handle ports so maybe it is a license thing.

New release: Hand of Fate, out on Linux, Mac, and Windows. It has a 20% launch discount which, according to enhanced Steam, is the lowest it's been so far (was released on Steam last summer).
I don't know, I'm not really into card games, but the description calls it 'hybrid roguelike/action-RPG/deck builder' which sounds interesting, and the steam user reviews are 'overwhelmingly positive'. Also, it's on Linux, big plus in my book. :D

Some more releases today: Paradox Interactive are now on GOG.

Europa Universalis
Hearts of Iron
Crusader Kings Complete
Majesty Gold HD
Majesty 2 Collection
Victoria Complete

The last 4 have a 50% launch discount.
I got quite excited until I saw they are all Windows-only :( .

i want to try some of these
I have Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV on Steam but haven't gotten around to playing them yet. Would there be any advantage to playing these chronologically starting with the first entry in each series? I guess there's no overarching story, so would I miss anything by just playing the latest entries?

Looks interesting, is on Windows and Mac OS, unfortunately no Linux.
None of them on Linux :(
Windows only, though :(
And again only on Windows :(
I'm a bit disappointed though that GOG doesn't have the Linux version...

We get it, you like Linux versions. You don't need to complain about it in almost every single post you make in the thread.

Better that you point out where Linux versions do exist than complain about where they don't.

I agree in principle: let us celebrate the games with GNU/Linux versions!

However, I also understand the impulse to kvetch when you see a new release and it's not on GNU/Linux. It's reflexive. So, give us some leeway. Those who have lobbied over time for more and better GNU/Linux support have laid the groundwork for more MacOS X releases and more Android support. At least that's the way I see it.

Sorry about that, didn't realize my posts were that annoying. I don't really consider a ":(" much of a complaint, but I can see how you'd see it that way, and I can easily leave it out.
I do, however, think that mentioning the supported platforms is relevant information, and I actually wished more people would add it rather than just saying 'out on PC' or 'released on GOG'. It's never clear if people mean 'Windows PC' when they say PC, so then I (and anyone on Mac or Linux) have to check for themselves. It can also be useful to point out the lack of a Linux version; for example DosBox games are easy to port (not even a port really) so you might expect all 3 versions. Even more, some games have Linux versions on some stores but not on others. Just from the recent GOG releases, Bastion has a Linux version on steam, and Majesty Gold has a Linux version on Desura (though the non-HD version). This probably seems weird if you are on Windows where you can just assume that any game on PC is on your platform, but I have to admit, I've been stupid enough in the past to buy a game that I knew has a Linux version only to afterwards notice that the store I bought it didn't actually have the Linux version. Stupid, I know, lesson learned, I now pay more attention to missing Linux versions.
But anyway, I apologize for having been annoyingly repetitive about this, I'll tone it down in the future.

Thanks for understanding!

On a more positive note: Oddworld New 'n' Tasty is now up for preorder on GOG, for Linux, Mac, and Windows. I don't usually preorder, but I think I might get this once it's out.

Ys Origins, Oath, and I+II Chronicles+ are up on GOG just now, with 25% launch discount for one week.
If anyone wants a play order I recommend starting with Oath (Ys 3).

1 and 2 have an archiac combat system but if you're OK with ye olde style gameplay and combat in old PC games then you shouldn't have an issue with it.
Origin improves on 3's combat system so should be played after wards.

Expect awesome gameplay and epic music

Also someone make a thread about Ys games arriving on GOG if one hasn't been made yet.

When is Galaxy supposed to launch? I should check which games I DLed from GOG that I need to redownload again for their latest ver. lol

With this guy in it, could it really be bad?
Seeing Ben Stein in something now actually makes it worse for me after having read up on his opinions about certain issues. But at least he's not getting any more money for this and isn't the main character in this very awesome game. Definitely worth a try just because it's totally unique.

they are still community testing it with the closed alpha right now...I'm not sure if they have a timeframe yet but they are doing a public beta relatively soon.

GOG patched Starfighter for X360 controller support, haven't had a chance to play yet and see the issues. Apparently joysticks are still bunkered up.
Forum Post

Preorders also up for Hotline Miami 2, Shelter 2; and Oddworld: New N Tasty released.

Weekend Sale: German Sale - 97% off for Deponia games and up to 80% off others. Highly recommend Deponia games, fun/stupid humor not quite to the level of Monkey Island, but enough to make you laugh and enjoy the story. Expect outlandish P&C puzzles that make you go WTF, but that's part of the charm. :)
