Yeah, people still use Google+

Looks to be transitioning to Google's Material Design, using Polymer and more uniform design similar with their other products like Google Photos, Play Music, etc. and a huge step up from what they have now.

To get it right away, just go to https://plus.google.com/ > hit the top left icon where it says home (should be right under the logo) > Settings > Manage Google+ Account (somewhere down the page) > Hit the search bar. Boom, you have it.

It doesn't seem to stick after revisiting the page though so that might happen after the full rollout.

G+ is wonderful for buying UV codes. The prices are unbeatable, sometimes as cheap as $.10-.25 per D2D movie + $1 processing fee each from Vudu.

I entered this thread hoping the new redesign was a 404 error page.

Looks very Google, though, I guess. Really weird that they're still working on this.

Would love to try it if my 2,000 friends on Facebook would switch to it.....

Yeah. A mass exodus of users to different services is rare. The last one I remember was the abandonment of ICQ.

You know what I love when browsing a page? A header bar that gives disappearing reappearing disappearing reappearing disappearing reappearing and distracting me from the content I'm trying to look at.

Well, Material Design certainly gives it a cleaner look! Shame that my usage of its services are highly limited as almost none of my friends use Google+.

An empty room is a quiet room.

You're just making it sound more appealing compared to the dogshit/10 typical post quality of Facebook and Twitter.

A lot of programmers and a fair few I know from the open-source community use it, possibly at least in part due to the above.

Seriously I swear I remember this happening. Or were they just announcing that they were decoupling it from Youtube etc?

I remember the main boss guy left, photos getting separated back, hangouts and the YouTube comments thing. I think Google plus is just a hook now and the main features it had are separate products instead. Google plus isn't a product so to speak anymore.

Well, at least it'll be a more enjoyable experience looking at android app developers' posts. That's all I really use it for anymore.

Looks pretty nice.

There are some groups that still use it quite a lot. I occasionally still see posts to it.

Hardly empty just "different" people...

Different in that they aren't people you know IRL?

[edit] I should say I think G+ looks great but it sounds like people are using it to follow communities (developers as an example given earlier), and that's fine, but that isn't what Facebook is - Facebook is where everyone you know is, like it or not, it's the shit party everyone went to.

Google + communities are pretty great. They are basically my news sources nowadays, specially tech-related stuff.
Also, redesigned communitites are definitely better.

Different as in more "tech savvy" and not a pile of moms and racist uncles...

If you don't like it fine, but every G+ is full of people shitting on it, it's not for you then don't use it, simple really.

Did they completely separate YouTube from Google+ yet?

I want to be able to comment on YouTube videos without converting my channel to a Google+ thing.
