Gran Turismo Time Trial Demo Currently Available on PSN

This time around the Academy is even bigger and better, and competition is bound to be pretty fierce – perhaps best of all though for Gran Turismo fans, it will be the first opportunity to get a hands-on taster as to what Yamauchi-san and his Polyphony team have been carefully crafting and polishing at their Tokyo base.

Qualify in the top twenty within your country and you will be invited to a national final event, where you will pit your wits against the best Gran Turismo drivers in the country. If you make it from there only then will you join the elite 20 that will be taken into the GT Academy 2010.

Only the two best drivers will make it out of this 5 day test of nerve and skill. From there will follow an intensive driver training schedule from which we will select our one GT Academy ace.

The time trial features the stunning Nissan 370Z in two guises. Firstly a blisteringly fast, race-tuned monster and secondly an only slightly less fearsome non-tuned version.

The GT Academy will run in the following countries:
UK
Ireland
France
Switzerland
Italy
Germany
Austria
Denmark
Norway
Finland
Sweden
Spain
Portugal
Netherlands
Belgium
Australia
New Zealand

Wasn't expecting to see the NASCAR stuff in there. I wonder if they'll license all the drivers and all the tracks.

Really surprised to see Nascar, and the damage is welcome. I wonder how in-depth the damage is, though, and if there's any for production cars.

I kinda wanted more info, though. Really disappointed to see Kaz ramble on about GT:M for forever and then see a brief trailer for the game people actually care about. Oh well.

Looked incredible. Can't wait to witness this in HD. Hopefully we get vids soon.

GT5 definitive definitive definitive.

A true fan of the series only needed a 30 second clip to see the awesomeness. It has a lot going for it. When people see the details they will be blown away.

Presentation looks ace!

The warning shots were fired off before E3 even started, so it was a safe bet to assume that GT5 won't show up anywhere except its own events or at TGS. Anyone expecting otherwise was setting up for disappointment.

I'm so juiced for this, but when the hell is it coming out. Absolutely no gameplay footage, no details, and no release date. I was so hoping for a F1 license, but maybe that's coming in the 5 years before the game gets released. If PD released the WRC content as a Prologue update DLC I would be very happy.

Jeff Gordon mother fuckers. Hell yeah.

Huge coup for GT to get the WRC and Nascar licenses. Avaya mentioned that F1 would be present as well, makes sense since the F2007 was in GT5P.

Forza + GT5 = BLISS.

NASCAR = buy
1st GT I will buy at release

Also I think they would have shown way more but they don't want to steal GT:M's thunder.

imagine the possibilities of career mode where you can start your career doing the reg GT career thing than evolve into a WRC or Nascar racer with sponsorships and what not

im prob getting to far ahead of myself but imagine

I will be buying Forza 3 this year and will buy a PS3 when the price drops to play GT5. Both games look to be bringing the absolute best. Competition is good!

The game feels like it's a product by the car industry for the industry, that's what separates it out from the competition.

F1 will likely be just the cars (Ferrari, BMW, Renault, Toyota, possibly McLaren, possibly Red Bull) and tracks who have no FOM relationship so that's Suzuka, Monza, Silverstone, Magny-Cours, Montreal, Imola, Hockenheim and many more.

sykoex

Lost all credibility.
I'm not a car guy so the NASCAR thing flew over my head at first, but yeah I guess that is a pretty damn big deal. Nice coup, Polyphony.

And yeah, Forza 3 being the "definitive racer" lasted for about a day. :lol

Also just realised since they have a tight relationship with Ferrari now after the Monza 2006 contract, GT5 might end up being the first game to include the new Ferrari Le Mans protoype which is rumoured to compete in the next year or two.
