We’re pleased to deliver GT6 to PlayStation 3 as we have a very loyal community on that platform. However, we have refactored the game to make it very flexible and expandable, with a view to making many future developments.

Closest you'll get today to 'confirmation' of a next-gen version or versions...

i never said it had to be a launch title

Gran turismo 3 didnt launch with the PS2 and it was a great game

dont come out for 2 more years for all i care

but this does not feel like a step up for the series

more like a huge patch in retail form ,or an expansion

should not be a mainline title IMO

and i guarantee you most of the people on the market for cheap hardware dont care about a game like gran turismo that much anyways. it may sell a ton but most of that ton is definitely the hardcore market that adopt new tech earlier than later

GT is NOT a casual game

It's more than a patch, it's a new engine with new physics and all

We all know it's going to drive well, but I really want there to be more realistic racing.

Safety Cars, formation laps, yellow flags, manual race starts, race ending damage, failures, manual pit limiter activation, etc.

The official site says

Multi Device Compatibility
• PlayStation®
• Smart Phone
• Tablet
• PC

Just PlayStation, not specifically PS3. They're probably waiting to drop the megaton PS4 (and Vita) version announcement on E3.

I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that they may launch the game AFTER the PS4 is out, also ignoring the vita that only passed a year old a few months ago.

The plan does nothing to help you in the long term. It will push hardware, but not the hardware that Sony needs to sell for future growth.

That interface shot is a bummer. I was hoping they'd finally move beyond the boring, sterile feel, but it seems like that's still their overall direction.

I could understand it if PS4 was backwards compatible with PS3 games (like PS3 was with PS2 games when it released; thus GoW2 and FFXII coming out after PS3 launched), but yeah...
