Gran Turismo Sport New Update.

There's a lot to love about this game and it's clearly a work of love when it comes to "the art of the car".

This makes it all the more infuriating that its offline component is so barebones, stale and frankly...boring. It has nothing to do with real racing.

I fired up Grid Autosport the other day and I was shocked at how well it handles both the AI drivers and the way its races are structured.
To give you an example in the Touring class:

- First race there's qualifying which determines the grid order
- After that all subsequent races the grid order is "champshionship standings reversed"

This makes for so much more engaging and thrilling offline races. Not to mention you can make as many custom cups with all kinds of parameters as your heart desires.

It's shocking that none of the great track racers except Project Cars 2 (but which leans very heavily to the sim side) have this kind of system in place. Both in Forza and GT it's basically "hey start at the end of the pack and race for first". This is not real racing at all.

If this is the best these big companies can do in 2019, it's honestly a sad state of affairs.
I'm not trying to rag on GT or Forza, I think they're gorgeous tech achievements, but both have so much untapped potential.

Here's hoping the GRID remake can actually bring some love back to offline racing.

You should be playing GTS online against real people to improve your skills.

dev said that he will bring back those old GT times to new GT7 , well some of them . And he better will , because all i play in GTS is arcade and some of those missions , thats it . and by doing that game is not so fun for very long time . i mean PSP GT was more fun if take those events and how garage worked it was great. i tried in these days again to play PSP GT and i was surprised how i like those kinda events and that kind of garage collection.

I don't HAVE to do anything ;)

Personally I have next to zero interest in racing online. I'm sure there's some great, clean racers out there, but my experience is that it's filled with trolls and asshole drivers. Why would I subject myself to something like that when the AI is amazing in games like F1 2019 and I can customize the whole experience to my own skill level and needs. I play games to be entertained and relax, my job is stressful enough as it is haha

I'm not asking for much. An interesting custom championship system isn't hard to implement, as Codemasters has proven time and time again imo.

GT7 could have same car models they perfect enough just with full dynamic ligthing , perfect shadows , reflections .. i maybe like Forza for their race events but boy ohh boy for pure cars nothing can beat this , still we need normal campaign mode with events that would give you money , cars as prices too and such.

Thats why as most things players ruins them. Another reason why i just play against AI . Sadly this is time trial for time so unless they somehow fix it its ruined at least for that track

Lots of players in GTS have skill. The FIA championship online events are savage and have the best console players. PC sim racing is the pinnacle though.

GT Sport for me is like having a gourmet meal with an expensive wine at a lavish restaurant.

The user interface, music and general ambiance navigating through the menu system gives off this feel of sophistication and attention to detail.

It's bloody gorgeous and i love every bit of this game.

*Thanks to the member for posting those awesome car interior screenshots*

GTS was an experiment that paid off for them, they almost perfected online racing. They just need to combine what they've learnt with a classic GT campaign in GT7 and they will have a smash hit on their hands next gen.
That's the one thing that's prevented me from buying the game so far. I don't subscribe to Plus and won't be playing online. But for under $20 new these days, it's getting easier to justify.

This game has had amazing post release support all for free. It is a great game and im sure the next one will build on the Sport Mode esports stuff and offer a bigger solo component too.

I never did a single FIA race and fell off the game earlier this year. Was still great actually being able to race most of the time without the chaos in Forza. Even that series is dabbling in a penalty system now.

How could they not anticipate this is going to be happening?

GTS the game that keeps on giving...….Kudos to Kaz and PD for having a vision for this installment and giving console gamers the best online racer they've ever seen or played.....Bodes well for a full fledged GT on PS5.....(GT7)..

GT7 could have same car models they perfect enough just with full dynamic ligthing , perfect shadows , reflections ..
As good as these pics you posted are, you know Kaz won't be satisfied with those for GT7? Right?...........The man is never satisfied haha, he still believes that there's alot he has to do to improve GTS still, and I'm sure there are a number of things he want to undertake and perfect for GT7.......All in all, I think GTS's online mode was a perfect way to evolve the series, perhaps the online would never be as good if it was a regular GT.....

So for GT7, I can expect; a regular GT mode, but much improved + an improved sport mode + hopefully an evolved Bspec mode..........Of course with all the dynamic lighting (raytracing), evolved foliage, crowds and pits, activity on the Tokyo streets, inside the buildings and on other tracks, dynamic weather and cloud simulations, 8k textures and improvements to sound and the driving model...….As for content and the package, GTS has laid the foundation for GT7 to have a perfect online and offline mode, with the best visuals we've ever seen.....

It is crazy how good on current console gen racing games look.
Can you imagine how GT7 will look on PS5?
This is gonna be completely photoreal game.

Nice selection of cars. The Mazda and Porsche sound pretty meh but they drive nicely so it isn't too bad.

I do wish they'd add more events than they currently do with each update though. When I first went to buy the Porsche I realised there weren't any GT League events I could use it in that I hadn't already completed which is a shame.

I finished GT3 to 97.5% but didn't even buy GT sport due to the online focus of it. It sounds like I should be buying Grid -remastered when it comes out though, I did love codemasters back on the xbox .. uh.. 1.. :messenger_confused:

I don't really agree that the game has a big online focus (anymore). The campaign mode has been expanded quite a bit.

Just another 500 more cars or so to model and I'll consider picking it up, with all the tracks they've recently done to.

Props but for them not completely abandoning it with the amount of content they released with. If they get the car models up a few more hundred, package all the tracks in, fill the SP out a bit more they might have a handy PS5 launch title.
