Why is people so FUCKING obssesed comparing an action-rpg to a full sandbox game.

"Hey dudes, let's compare GTA V rpg elements against Cyberpunk.

What, it doesn't have? what a shitty game, Rockstar, i demand a refund you bastards!"

As you can see, it sounds ridiculous, well, this is what some "Nobel prizes" were doing 3 days in a row.
Blame CDPR for marketing the game as a Cyberpunk GTA.

You know Guerilla is taking notes and learning what not to do with Horizon 2. Sony exclusives always run well no matter how you feel about the actual games.

I can't decide which comparison is more retarded, GTA 5 and Cyberpunk or Cyberpunk and Horizon: Zero Dawn. No, it's definitely the latter.

If you going to compare then compare realistically and compare it towards the release version of GTA 5 which ran at anywhere from 15 fps to 30 fps on a PS3 with dog shit visuals with it. they also dropped support pretty much the moment PS4 came out for it and even at the PS4 version there where heavy visual issue's at the start.

It took years of patches / remakes to make it run acceptable on consoles and on the base PS4 with 30 fps lock it is far less impressive then what cyberpunk on the new consoles do.

Then let's not talk about the PC version which came out a whooping 2 years later then the console version.

The PS3 version was 2013, the PS4 version was 2014 and the PC version was 2015. Cyberpunk releases everything at the same day. Go call me when the base ps4 and xbox run the game like shit in 2 years from now and then these people got a point if much like GTA they didn't abandoned it by then.

In short incredible dump comparison.

The open world in Cyberpunk is a joke in terms of interactivity. It's all for show, don't even bother trying to interact with anything.

Luckily quests make up for it.

But the more I play this game the more baffled I am by the review scores it received.
I didn't realize it was this bad. Wow. This games entire open-world aspect has been bothering me and this video solidifies what exactly that is: The open-world is nothing more than window dressing. It's not surprising the amount of people fixated on how this game looks on a high-end PC. The developers pulled the RTX wool over many eyes to hide the truth that they spent so many years creating a stunning mediocrity.

Well... not really.

The comparison is more so about the features that should be in any game in a city with people, guns and cars. So Cyberpunk being a RPG doesn't really answer why you can't shoot the tires of cars despite the game being about humans with guns in a city with cars.

Why would they NEED to be the same genre for that to actually be in the game?

Do they need to be the same genre for the AI to also recognize you exist too? Certain things in Cyberpunk should have been MORE interactive and immersive as you said it yourself, GTAV ISN'T AN RPG, so why the fuck is the game that IS A RPG lacking sooooo many features that would help build that story, world etc? I'd argue, smart AI would be needed more in a RPG, then something like GTA.

Gtav is a better game generally. They're a a variety of different vehicles to use in the game that's are just fun to fuck around with. Playing the online version is great with friends, but by yourself, it would be a frustrating experience. Especially, how the lobbys are set up.

Cyberpunk which I'm still in the beginning of, is very immersive and have more of a story driven feel. It honestly feels more close to dying light and fall out than gtav.

did these features not being in the witcher 3, stop the witcher from being great? the design philosophy is essentially the same since this is a open world RPG from the same dev that did another open world rpg before that didn't prioritize those things.

it's you dude bro gamers that see guns and cars and start wrongly associating to GTA just because it has guns and cars. very low IQ noob shit to make that connection.

that wasn't really a thing in the witcher 3 at all. yet it didn't really affect it, and nobody made nearly as much of a peep.

literally you guys are doing this because it has guns and cars and is first person. so simple brains were attracted to it thinking it's bethesda and rockstar in one.

thats a REALLLLY noobish way of looking at this.

it shouldnt be a surprise that this has the same design approach as the witcher 3. at all. period. you guys are imposing your own shit onto it.

well no shit it's more comparable to fallout because it fucking is lol.

jesus you guys are the "hardcore" gamers?

neogaf has changed...clearly this game has attracted certain types of gamers....because they saw guns and cars, didn't expect it to be like the witcher 3 in design because these same people are the types that prefer skyrim to the witcher or havent played the witcher at all lol

Cyberpunk has dropped to an 89 on Metacritic, losing it's must play badge. Safe to say the game failed to deliver an experience that is on the level of Rockstar or Naughty Dog.

it's at an 89 primarily because of bugs...

and rockstar and naughty dog don't produce rpg's...why are you not comparing it to first person rpg's?

From what I have played of Cyberpunk so far, it is less GTA and more Deus Ex.

Which is pretty much what I was expecting but those GTA-inspired trailers probably didn't help set the appropriate expectations for a lot of people.

then those people just dont pay attention because cdpr said numerous times this was an RPG.

just casuals that dont know how to analyze games....

I'm having fun with the game but I think we can safely say that CDPR bit off more than they could chew...

Ambition is admirable but it's obvious that they were hoping new GPU's / consoles etc would be able to brute force this game and that they lack the technical know-how to optimize things without sacrificing the vision or damaging it severely.

The game also feels much more linear than what I expected and I wonder, would they have been better off making a 'wide-linear' version of CP2077, cutting out all the unneeded work and focusing their team on polish and the illusion of a massive city and hinterland.

I am a sucker for the RPG systems and all of that, so that is all great. I do think the AI is terrible though, the enemies are also very spongy at times and those gas grenades.... very annoying and they can just spam them.... anyway that is more of a very precise gripe I have.

How is Horizon Zero Dawn even an RPG? WTF kind of game did people want from Cyberpunk? For me it wasn't another GTA or Horizon Zero Dawn, as much as I love both.

this is a sad story of a game that attracted....alot of the wrong people. it had too much mass appeal, so you have alot of people that saw theoretical appeal in...the wrong things. and aren't really into gaming enough to analyze who's making it; literally the game is designed just like the witcher 3.

but because it has guns and cars, peoples brains start short-circuiting and they go "derp G-GTA? Bethesda game bc first person?"

when neither of those titles are what this game is, well one is in the same genre and is clearly an inferior title.

what exposes these people is the fact that wouldn't scrutinize the witcher nearly as much for the same type of NPC's, because they can tell its a high fantasy rpg, because swords, setting, 3rd person etc . this they're confused literally because of the guns and cars.

Everything you're saying to me speaks to a truth I've known and said so often... your worst performing platform HOLDS THE GAME BACK. Had they made it non-open world to work on base consoles MY PC VERSION MIGHT BE HELD BACK TOO, like literally anything they would do to make it work on XB1 or PS4 would mean holding back PC, wouldn't it? Even if it just meant dev time being taken up by doing that, heck the amount of time they spent making it WORK AT ALL on those ancient platforms is time taken away from making my experience bug free. This is why the Series S is a shit console... yeah, that's where I took this!

but it's still better than literally every title in it's same genre...and shat on obsidians and fallouts attempts on combat on the first go.

as a gamer, you have to know and appreciate that. seriously you guys are out here acting like you're playing a better first person RPG right now... you fucking aren't. please send this mystical game to me.

And it doesnt offer barely any of the mechanics that Cyberpunk offers.

If you keep it so small as in KCD, then you dont have to have mindless AI populating the city.

Also, I dont really care if the NPC's run on a schedule or if some of them are not available because its the middle of the night.

Im not looking for that type of immersion.

Trust me, I like KCD, but you cant compare it to Cyberpunk 2077 at all.

dark souls is also at a 89. guess it's trash. and that was without bugs

cyberpunk is down likely 3 points because of bugs alone...

btw did you play any side quests or get to act 2.

It’s barely an RPG, lacking even less RPG elements and agency than The Outer Worlds, an AA effort from Obsidian. I’m playing KCD right now, and it is FAR SUPERIOR to this abortive joke of a game shat out by CPDR.

Dark Souls is considered one of the best games ever... but look how long it took to get a decently functioning PC version without modding it, lol. Console people just think they own the world and everyone should only listen to them. If it doesn't work on their juguar cpus from 2013 we shouldn't be happy with it on PC.

Outer Worlds, now there is mediocre game. Does it have more dialogue options than this? Sure, it has more dialogue options than plenty of RPGs that are better than it, but the characters suck, the world sucks and you never really care about the consequences of your decisions, game doesn't seem to either.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. The combat is lightyears ahead of those games.... I'm just shooting the breeze, hypothesizing what could have been done.

I mean, the easiest thing they could have done is cancel the PS4 and XB1 versions and focus on PC and next gen (now current gen).

Ok? The role playing in KCD is still a lot more involved and its world feels more alive. Who cares how dense Cyberpunk is when its world is static and the NPC AI is non-existent?

Not all of us are trying to break the AI, some of us just want the immersion it provides. I have never before felt this much like I'm in a real city, there are so many goddamn NPCs on screen that all look high quality and don't repeat too often, it's kind of jaw-dropping what they DID accomplish, but on gaming forums all we can talk about is what they DIDN'T accomplish.

also he can make that same argument with the witcher 3. so I guess KCD is better than the witcher 3 too...

but surprisngly, everyone seems to magically understand that the witcher 3 didn't that interaction for it to be what it is.

You've got a good point here, no one approached Witcher III like it was Red Dead Redemption but for some reason they approach Cyberpunk like it should be Grand Theft Auto

which I said is literally because these people are so dumb...so dumb explosive... that they saw guns and cars and made that connection.

and i'm not trying to be a dick here, but that is exactly what is happening. mind boggling I know.

and the sudden, long standing culminative understanding that the witcher 3 didn't need that very thing they're bitching about here, is proof of this phenomenon.

When it comes to having an open world. Yeah, Cyberpunk falls fat on it's face at that.

They bit off more than they can chew. As Bryank75 Bryank75 said, game probably should've been hub-like or linear.

Most likely the open world is just there to prepare for the MXT multiplayer.

did these features not being in the witcher 3, stop the witcher from being great?

Yup.

As much as I enjoy the side quest in that game, the brain dead dumbass NPCs hurt the game greatly. They just stare at you. I legit walked in their home and was stealing what ever I wanted and they kept smiling and repeating the same fucking lines over and over. It breaks the shit out of the immersion and I literally laughed as I was playing.

Imagine thinking in a game humans should not behave as humans. Even the most basic shit is not done in that game. They failed to meet literally 2002 level AI.

it's you dude bro gamers that see guns and cars and start wrongly associating to GTA

?? The fuck? Stop getting worked up over this to the point of name-calling and judging people. I bought CP2077 AND Witcher 3 AND GTA, I fucking play MANY games my friend. I'm sorry but a game can very much be rated against its peers. When they decided they wanted to fucking make a huge open world RPG, they will be rated against the likes of Elder Scrolls, Divinity Sin, Kingdom come Deliverance etc So if they are seeking to make a life like world, its not my fault that their NPC do not behave as such.

Even with CP2077, its a world with cars, a city, humans and guns. Sooooooo its within reason that one can shoot a fucking tire or that cops will TRAVEL to find you if you commit a crime, not fucking appear out of thin air. None of those are GTA exclusive ideas, thats a universally understood concept that shouldn't even be debated in such a game.

You telling me if you throw you in CDPR and you are working on CP2077 and they tell you they want to have it where if you shoot tires........they go flat.......as they do here on Earth....in real life, you telling me you fucking going to say no, its not GTA or something?

So....just fuck reality is what you are telling me? Make the game have no logic what so ever, GTA now owns all those ideas? Cars can't move, planes don't fly, thats a GTA only thing or something?

Make it makes sense man.

Comparing the two is stupid as all hell and anyone who is, obviously doesnt play enough first person RPG's.

CP2077 should be compared to Deus Ex, Oblivion, the latest Fallouts, Vampire Masquerade and really any FPS RPG.

In terms of interactivity with the world, I say CP2077 pales in comparison to a number of RPG'S.

But in terms of quest lines and gameplay, they beat everyone.

A lot of FPS RPG'S fail at combat, even goats like Masquerades.

CP2077 is pretty darn great at its combat.

Cyberpunk should have been third person.

Ew no. Why would you want that?

Do you think that if it had a TPS camera youd be welcomed with a smooth animation to the likes of Uncharted?

Fuck no, you'll get stiff animation like the ones youd find in Fallout.

It would ruin your immersion to the world they built that is exemplified in their story cut scenes.

To me, a third person camera in vein of the latest Deus Ex games would be great in which the camera only turns third person during wall covering.

Anything more and you'll just have the typical stiff-like third person animations in a FPS RPG.

I want Rockstar to create a GTA in Cyberpunk world.

Cyberpunk = story, characters, atmosphere, music, and mission design

GTA V = AI, physics, world interactivity, and gameplay mechanics.

GTA has everything CP has, but more. Can't wait for GTA6. I am playing CP on PS5 but all the options for cyberware and stuff is still a bit overwhelming for me.

That is exactly what they should have done, this game should have been next gen only or to be more precise PC only (NG consoles weren't a thing yet) tying the awesome design ideas to the anchor consoles (PS4 and One) was a horrendous decision that bit them in the ass, this could have been the next Crysis, but sadly it was glued to Jaguar CPU's and very dated tech

GTA V's story and characters was alright, but were nothing to write home about. The best thing about GTA has always has been the immersion in the world done by the attention to detail and realism done by Rockstar. The music is nothing special also in fact it pales in comparison to previous GTA soundtracks. And finally Cyberpunk's multiplayer hasn't been released yet.

They should do a total cyberpunk conversion mod for GTA5 ala Blade Runner: Cells Interlinked 2021. After spoiling gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077 from random streamers, I lost all interest in ever playing it. And it's not just the bugs either, or the lies, but also all the progressive bullshit they're trying to sneak in there. Fuckpunk 2077.

CP wishes it was Deus Ex levels of quality.

The Deus Ex hubs smash the open world of CP.

And that's before we look at the gameplay systems which, shooting aside, all go to Deus Ex.
Yeah. GTA, RDR2, Ubi Soft's annual AC/Watch Dogs all do the open world, emergent gameplay better than Cyberpunk.

Deus Ex does the cyberpunk action RPG better than Cyberpunk. The gameplay in Cyberpunk is janky as hell, and its not all just bugs. I dont think this AI is ever going to be improved in patches for example.

Still a good game, but frustrating to play at times.

I've got about 30 hours in Cyberpunk on PC and love it. BUT...

It's nothing innovative or special. The more I play, the more I feel William Gibson's remarks regarding Cyberpunk 2077 a couple of years ago were more accurate than people gave him credit for.

A reskinned GTA 5 with an 80's theme... Not that it's a bad thing. It's just that's what it is for the most part

Every open world game set in present or future times does not need to be compared to GTA.
No, but this one does. It has a lot of similarities.
