GTA V is Getting Hammered By Steam User Reviews. "Save Open IV" Petition over 40k

I saw a very interesting video created by an attorney regarding the OpenIV situation. If they were to take it to court, even if they were in the United States, they'd have several routes of defense. The one I find most interesting is how they "waited too long".

Lol? when has a petition EVER done anything other than to make people feel good about doing fuck all, it's about as effective as likes on Facebook Take two and Rockstar won't care and gamers won't care when the next GTA rolls out.

Cue the next outrage

Gonna have to quote this post again because it looks like the petitions and general outrage DID do something. Seeing as OpenIV is now allowed to be used again.

Really? That's good news then.

Paradox has also issued a statement regarding their price increase in some regions and will be reverting them later after the sale.

Where are the gloom and doom people now? :)

T2 Employee: Sir! The Steam rating just dipped to Mixed. MIXED!

T2 Exec: *pauses counting money* Oh? Huh. *resumes counting money.

*looks at steam charts*

4th highest played game.

Yeah, seems like this is definitely gonna make T2 take notice.[/s]

Halve their shark card revenue from the PC version of the game. That is the way you can have a clear impact unlike other wishy washy methods like vague boycotts or some negative reviews which won't impact their bottom line.

Kids literally throwing their toys out the pram

It's a stupid way. This childish behaviour will just make Valve kill reviews for good, the only working curation of content there is. All Rockstar will think is PC gaming was a mistake. It's not like they need those 8 out of 80 million sales. And I guess the majority of users are pretty damn thankful in the first place for stopping mods, because only a minority uses them and they don't like being griefed upon, which is why Rockstar shut down Open IV in the first place. This is just a vocal stupid minority abusing the review system. Go to Twitter, send nuts to their office, do what normal people do.

Take 2 right now

This will hurt R* badly. Millions of people are still on the fence and looking at steam reviews for guidance.

R* is probably in full panic mode right now.

This means absolutely nothing since everyone who wants GTA5 has it already so its not like they are going to lose sales.

At this point in GTA V's life, do you think a significant amount of customers are uninformed enough about the product to consider the Steam review score (but not check the actual reviews) before making their purchase?

Will those reviews dissuade people that were interested in buying it due to modding, particularly due to Youtube videos by personalities? Yes, and YT is one avenue where a lot of noise needs to be made. Will it dissuade people that are buying it for GTA Online? No, and those potential whales are what the publisher and developer care about right now, enough to kick the mod hornets nest.

Yes? Rather than just spraying shit all up the walls actually have an angle of attack, if you want to organise a protest then make the action about not playing GTA Online and not buying any Shark Cards until they reverse this decision. If their userbase or revenue drops by any noticeable amount, then you've got their attention.

By actually telling them? Jesus, you've got voices and you're using them currently, direct them in a way that will have an impact. Tweet, e-mail, set up a Reddit post, say why you're not happy with that decision and what your action will be. Hell, get some big GTA mods Youtube personality to spread the word. If they see 30k properly worded e-mails (not just FK U ROKSTAH WERE MY MODZ?), if they see their GTAO playerbase drop 20%, if they see their shark card revenue drop 5% they will notice and act.

Noise works when directed correctly, don't waste your opportunity by being a rabble that the company decides is worth ignoring the ire of.

It's nice to see resistance but we all know that gta5 has sold every copy they could hope for on the planet, and if they announced gta6 everyone would be lining up to buy that instantly.

Internet outrage shifts faster than the wind

Means absolutely nothing.

Vote with your wallets.

This will just make it so that future games from big developers will either stop supporting mods altogether or control mod content like Bethesda is doing.

Nothing good will come out of it.

Would be a great point if there would not be data, which leave no place for imagniry ridicoulus maybes. The ammount of people playing are steady at there were no major falloff, especially not in the region you claim
And that's just the first page.
