I've just watched a big description of the game.
I think I have a fairly decent understanding of the game. I think it fits those descriptions rather well. They showed you adjusting states for your weapon accuracy, and they described one mode as being like the VATS system. And the gameplay looks identical to Uncharted, with the addition of stealth, which Uncharted 2 has.
ugh
well, okay
first of all the gameplay looks identical to uncharted because of what, exactly? because it plays in third person and you have guns? those are literally the only similarities between the two games and those features can be applied to dozens of other games out there. there is absolutely no connection between alpha protocol and uncharted outside of general trademarks of third-person action games.
"with the addition of stealth, which Uncharted 2 has"
again, UGH. Deus Ex, which is an action-RPG and comparable to AP in so many more ways than Uncharted is, had stealth. that was nine years ago. Uncharted 2 isn't even out yet, hell nothing about the stealth is even known. but if i have to play a guessing game, i'd wager that AP's stealth is much more like deus ex' thanks to their similar approach to level structure (multiple paths towards one goal), whereas uncharted is linear. and let's not forget that deus ex and AP's stealth are both rooted in the games' RPG mechanics, which uncharted does not have. ive mentioned uncharted too many times now. it is absolutely nothing like AP apart from the most shallow of similarities.
about stats and aiming: " We wanted to make sure that the player felt like they were involved with the combat as opposed to just their abilities. The abilities in the game basically enhance your shooting ability. Meaning if you have a level ten skill in pistols, you will do more damage with your pistol. So it doesnt help you with your aim necessarily."
there is no "VATS mode". what i think you're referring to is the one skill lets you shoot enemies while they're in a sort of stasis, but this is one skill out of many and not a 'mode', and from what i've gathered it's more like red dead revolver's shootouts than VATS.
i don't know what you've been reading, but you're really misinformed about this game.
